Does anyone really think that though... Is it just a bogan stereotype?
I certainly don't think the taxi that drops my drunken carcass home on after a Friday night has anything to do with the machines nudging 300km/h down Conrod Straight.
What about Supertourers, did people like them? I mean they were pure racing cars, billet suspension arms mounted about 15cm from the original point, tubbed more than any drag car you have ever seen, sequential gearboxes and funky diffs, 19" wheels back when 18" was still considered massive... They really had nothing to do with the cars they were based on...
