  1. Awesome car mate, the classic european sports coupe
  2. Yes but Schumacher is an old coot, a talented driver with a difficult personality who unfortunately owes most of his titles to ross brawn, ferrari superiority and rubens' contract rather than his raw talent. I am very glad rosberg consistently beats him, and it was upsetting to see rosberg taken out and miss out on gaining some points on his team-mate. I do agree though, it must be hard some mornings to be Webber, but he does often act very aggressively towards vettel, though I guess I would too if some punk was getting favoured and I was the unluckiest driver in f1.
  3. My mistake, I was basing that on this, about 4min 30s in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmO1tndJlNY&playnext=1&list=PL65776410078C138F When the car is in handling mode the wing comes up, in normal mode or going for the top speed mode it is down. http://jalopnik.com/#!260477/bugatti-veyron-164
  4. Yeah I'd start at the end, not the start lol, usually any oils based question has been answered within the last 20-30 pages. 10w40 is the way to go, the VAST majority of sau people run it. There's barely any difference between 5w40 and 10w40 though, so either will do. That opens up your options to motul 8100 xcess (5w40) as well as the new 8100 (10w40, can't remember name), and royal purple. Give your local auto shops a call, most will stock motull 8100 xcess, the 8100 10w40 is new and still rolling out, and royal purple is a bit harder to find. Or order some sougi s6000 from birds, it is motul 300v chrono (~105 for a 4L bottle) quality, but half the price. It's been discontinued but I think he has some left. See last page of the oils thread.
  5. Try posting in the fasted thread mate
  6. Ahh yeah, I was talking about non-digital sorry. One HD has improved it dramatically
  7. Oils thread http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/22458-the-goods-on-oils/page__hl__filter__st__640 Oil change diy http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/10035-my-first-skylines-guide-to-changing-your-oil-and-oil-filter-in-an-r33/
  8. No f1 on pay TV. Channel 10 bought all the rights to it so that they can make us wait till 11:30pm for the race, even though it was scheduled for 11:00pm, and regardless of when it actually aired. They actually promised to give the sport the viewing it deserved when they bought the rights, so much for that. That lap is so awesome, I'm not sure what I like more, the insane speeds of the f1 car, the fact it smashed the record despite being on rev limiter for most of conrod, or that that's what it looks like when button just takes it easy!
  9. Hahaha awesome clip! And fantastic footage of bathurst, the McLaren just tore up the mountain like it was a piddling little hill. Vettel sure knows how to win a race from pole huh? He's not so good when he has to fight for it. Hopefully they sort out the drs soon, it just wasn't enough. I've been saying for years that what they need to do is get rid of all that fancy downforce, straight wings front and back. Then we'd see some real overtaking, not this overtaking-during-pitstops business that is necessary if you're only 1.5s faster than the car in front.
  10. How long will the current coilpacks last? Completely unpredictable I'm afraid. If the insulation has helped fix it it might be just an issue with the plastic casing, instead of the coils deteriorating themselves, which is a good sign. It might run fine for a month, it might run for 10 years or more, hopefully closer to the latter
  11. You could get most of these for a few hundred cheaper http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/results.aspx?Ns=pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|0||pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&N=1216%201246%201247%201252%201282%20898&tabID=304727&keywords=&tsrc=allcarhome&Nne=15
  12. Good luck with the upgrade, hope your sister has many cases with which to pay!
  13. Any other symptoms? Misfiring? Maybe it needs a clean of afm or a tune?
  14. Sad but that's the way it'll go
  15. You may as well stick with bcpr6es/bkr6es or bosch fr7dp/fr7dpx which are platinums for pretty much the same price, and change with oil every 5-10k km. Some people have success with long lasting platinums and iridiums, but most don't.
  16. He says that because of the host of issues that come with adding extra boost and assuming the ecu can happily deal with it. It you changed your ecu and had a tune, your power and fuel economy would both increase, possibly dramatically. Bcpr6es and bkr6es are both copper plugs. If insulating helps then your splitfires may need replacing in the future. I'd go with yellow jackets, they're a lot cheaper and come with a 2 year warranty. Is 6 the right heat rating for 15psi? I'd have a good look into that, esp if as you said two people have moved from 6 to 7 with v groove and found an improvement. There is a mighty long thread on spark plugs worth a read, here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/104405-spark-plugs/
  17. i had always thought skittles' sexuality was general maintenance ibtl!
  18. It's a tremendous amount of effort, and will take a long time to sell all the parts, to possibly get as much money as you'd get by selling the car in full. Probably up to 2k for engine, 1-1.5k for gearbox, 1k for exhaust etc... And a well modified gtr rolling chassis for example only goes for 6k (at least one did a while ago), that'd probably be worth more than a r34 one. You could sell interior bits and pieces for a few hundred, same with brakes and suspension, wheels and tyres etc.. Whereas if you just sell the car you should get over 15k due to the low mileage.
  19. Your bonnet will protect it from the sun. What GTRPowa said before is right, the colour affects radiative heat dissipation, the effects of which are minimal compared to the effects of convection heat loss. Even at a low speed like 40km/h the intercooler is losing a lot of heat, and it goes up exponentially with speed.
  20. Not on the veyron, it goes up when the car is started, and a special key has to be entered beside the drivers seat to drive the car with it down
  21. Put some decent plugs in and get some yellow jackets. If you're getting misfire, a popping sound, on high boost then that's almost certainly the problem. Gutsy trying the holden coils, but yellow jackets are only round $400, have 2 years warranty, and have been proven to be pretty effective
  22. How does the heat transfer coefficient of naturally occurring aluminium oxide compare to a very thin layer of specialised paint? Normal aluminium oxide needs only be incredibly thin to adequately prevent further corrosion, so despite the far more conductive paints available they probably cannot make up for the thickness of the coat of paint. The layer of oxidised aluminium is thin and relatively fragile, which is why anodising is used to create a strong hardy layer to prevent further corrosion pretty much permanently. Depending on how this is done, ie what thickness is achieved, it can be thick enough that a paint is more efficient for convection heat dissipation. All in all, black is stealth
  23. r34 gtt's dropped 3-4k in price over the 14 months I owned one, so it could be a completely different market in a year
  24. m3's are on the restricted list. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Seriously mate, just save, buy whatever you can live with now then save. It might be a pain atm, but you'll love yourself for it in a few years. Or, buy a prelude (vtec yo?), 8 speakers stock (very important), decent speed, and apparently that 4ws is interesting.
  25. They're more towards the lower ends of those ranges now.
