  1. Did you mean e85 terry? Doesnt he need a retune to run that? Sorry mate, but to own an interesting car means you're gonna have to get your hands dirty. Getting at the sparkplugs is an extremely easy job in the scope of things, it's not like taking the engine apart or replacing a gearbox. Have a search, there's some good diy's on here. I got the plug change down to abut 45 mins with my brothers incompetent help once, it's not a difficult job. The other thing is, it's not a great idea to trust your local mechanic with cars like these. Falcodore/camry specialists get easily confused with skylines, regardless of how many they say they've done before. It's a lesson you only need to learn once mate
  2. +1 for yellow jackets, fixed my 34 rigjt up after trying gapping, taping and silicone
  3. Did you call performance-wise about the yellow jackets? Might struggle getting them asap at this time of year mate. Good luck with it
  4. Hogh gripping point can mean the clutch hadnt been installed or modified properly. I remember when I bought my r34 it had some no-name clutch fitted with a pivk up point over 10cm above the floor. When I changed it for an exedy hd it took me about a week to get used to haha but after that the narrower pickup point, and the lowness of it were great
  5. Waiting for msging to come back to the forums so I can reply to a couple of PM's (including one from a while back, sorry mate). Feel free to call on 0422 215 127 or email [email protected]
  6. I thought that was an old urban myth, possibly based on more lenient days. I know many people who have been booked at just over 10%. One of whose father was a policeman and the driver objected that he wasn't doing 10% + 4 over, probably didn't help his case lol. You're probably safe at just under 10% and not more than 10km/h, but if I went through a speed trap at 124km/h I'd expect to be caught. That is of course when the policeman has to decide whether it's worth chasing you down or not, they probably won't bother for 5.6 or 7 km/h over. Cameras aren't so lenient...
  7. For anyone wanting more info it's all covered in the oils sticky I used motul 8100 xcess, and loved it, until sougi s6000 came into my life. But that's dead and gone now sadly. The nulon "fully synth" was pretty good for a grade 3, cost a bit though when 4100 turbolight is cheaper. Not sure if it's the same for gtr's, I'd imagine it is, but 10w40 is usually about right for aussie conditions with the normal number of kms on it. There are a few conditions that have to be met by the viscosity of the oil, and it's all compromises: -On start up it has to be thin enough to be pumped quickly to moving parts, yet thick enough to provide decent protection when there. -You want it to be thick to provide decent protection for valves and cylinders, but thin enough to drain from the head to the sump properly. They're the two big ones. 10w40 is usually accepted to be adequate for australia. The original nissan oil was 7.5w30, but many kms have been done since then and, more importantly, the weather conditions are different here.
  8. Still for sale and still negotiable
  9. Still for sale and still negotiable
  10. just open the radiator cap and top it up first thing in the morning, should sort it out
  11. +1 that seems to be what he's after once a set boost pressure is reached, a diaphragm in the actuator moves to open the wastegate, boost controllers work by bleeding pressure away from the actuator so the wastegate stays closed, building more boost until the pre-set boost controller allows the actuator to open. Not an exact, point perfect description but hope it makes sense to the OP.
  12. Finally!!! I hate people who just cruise along in the right lane. It may be legal to undertake, but it's so much more dangerous when mr im-not-paying-attention-to-what-lane-im-in doesn't check his blind spot before changing lanes! The only thing more important than making sure you're not being a nuisance for everyone else on the road is safety, it's so rude and inconsiderate. I remember following some douche for many kms while he did 70 in an 80 zone, when the limit changed from 80 to 60, he kept going at 70 for several more kms through suburbia. Argh and when slow people speed up when an overtaking lane appears. Why do they do this? Is it just to get in everyone's way? Everyone's just trying to get home/to work/to the pub or wherever and some pricks think it's their job to break the road-rules just to be a pain. [/rant]
  13. plenty of people in the for sale thread want to swap the other way, keep an eye on it and see what pops up
  14. That mofo has featured on these forums before, there's a thread somewhere on him, maybe in general automotive discussion... Do everything you can to get him back mate, court, fb defaming etc. Douches like this make me sick
  15. Ahh ok, I was getting mixed up with an old engine idea of injecting water in with the fuel to keep engine temperatures down: barely any combustion energy is lost due to the expansion of the liquid water and wouldn't affect the exhaust as it would be at temperature. You're right though, it'd only do damage after the pistons
  16. advertising at local track (nkrc) today
  17. or here http://www.kudosmotorsports.com/catalog/nissan-c-21.html
  18. Hey Zeb, can you explain this please? Are you referring to dissolved oxygen? Because surely the dissolved O2 wouldn't be significant compared to the O2 left in the exhaust gases after combustion. And water itself doesn't break down into hydrogen and oxygen until 2000oC. Water is a natural product of combustion: (Ethanol) CH3CH2OH + 3.5O2 -> 2CO2 + 3H2O Petrol is similar but a much larger and more complicated hydrocarbon. Cheers
  19. Where you located mate?
  20. Marc's dead right there. The contact surface area between air and intercooler is what will slow the air down, and how many hundreds of times more area would that be, it's huge! That's the whole point though, the contact area will sap some energy from the air stream momentum-wise, but you want that anyways as the cooler is there to sap heat energy from the stream.
  21. Closer to 14 months mate, but only got heavily into the forums at the start of this year. It was fun while it lasted but unfortunately there was a financial deadline. Working + uni sucks lol

  23. Loved that episode, always wondered though, did hamond really accidentally drop his car down that hill? Or was it set up because he didn't want to do something so stupid after almost losing his life a few years back?
  24. Patched it up to keep dust and water out. I spoke to a bunch of mechanics who concluded (from my description) it'd be okay as is unless I was putting out massive kW. In retrospect I exaggerated the hole, about 1-1.5cm to 5-6cm. Anyways, couldn't afford to keep the car while at uni and work is unstable, so it's now sadly gone. Missing the fun of driving a real car! I'll be back on the skyline horse soon
  25. A month or so late, but changed the clutch and gearbox oil and problem completely disappeared. Apparently the clutch was really fkd.
