I meant to mention above, manual stock boost for r33 is 7-9 psi, not 5-7 (which is auto).
-
Have a look through the power thread mate if you want to make a set power level. If you put on even a catback and up your boost to say 12psi (safe limit for the turbo) you'll be on 160-185rwkw in an r34 gtt (depending on a bunch of stuff), so I'd imagine an r33 gtst won't be far off it. Is it meant to be absolute pressure mate? I was just going to quote you here haha:

sau trading forum?

Oh yeah, at least! Couldn't use it as a daily, more a weekend toy. The other cars are more daily drives. The 250 is one of those cars I'd love to own but never will. Was just giving some interesting info anyways. If I wanted to spend that much on a daily drive I'd look toward m3's, but each to their own.

there are other options for interesting cars, not just monaro or skyline... porsches, mercs, bmws, audis just for interest sake I had a look at whats under 45k on carsales, going from high price to low, there's a beautiful 1960s 250 ferrari in there!! If I was bored, I'd test a bunch before making a decision. What if you end up hating the monaro? Just test heaps, include high powered skylines too. Maybe all you need is a bazillion killerwasps? http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/result...home&Nne=15

Wow, to buy the equivalent kudos gear from nissan: $929.40. Insane.

wats the price with the balancer fixed? -
Glad to hear it mate, nothing quite like the little hints of happiness that new engine blood gives you. Did mine today, always love it, can't smell anything other than the oil that soaked into my hands too haha

This is one of those times I really wish I was a good mechanic. I might buy one of those kudos kits http://www.kudosmotorsports.com/catalog/ni...25det-p-91.html And I guess the AC/PS and alt belts are all nissan so I'll hit them up for a quote. I think that'd cover it all. Thoughts? Btw did oil today and when I can undo the fkn plugs will change the gearbox and diff oils. Then there's only clutch and brake fluid right? Does the clutch fluid have to be done with the new clutch? I might get the brake fluid done when I get new pads, which is also going to be soon. Money Money Money...

My First Clutch Change
Galois replied to CK34GT's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
what about getting a new pressure plate fro jb and using the same flywheel, just machined? -
plats or iridiums? either way thats an awesome price!

It's my daily and I'm still looking for another car, but I'll get it done soon. - AC Belt - PS Belt - Alt Belt - Timing Belt - Water Pump - Spark Plugs - Clutch (Full Kit Ideally) - All Fluids - All Filters - New Battery? ect. Spark plugs, filters and fluids I do myself. Battery has just been changed and clutch is slipping so I'm organising an upgrade to be put in. I just have no idea what has been done before, so I might do all the belts and water pump...

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Tu...ato-t67730.html Seems like a good coolant flush DIY.

Good luck with it, sounds like it's gonna be a big day. Just buying one of those lighter torch things, everyone seems to suggest applying some gentle heat. I hope it works, the gearbox is sounding really unhealthy. Call gulf western to find your nearest distributor. I bought 4x5L bottles for $256, which is $64 a bottle including gst. My guy delivered it himself to where I work as it was on his way somewhere, now that's service. Give them a call from the number on their website, buy some or find a distributor for next time so save some dosh. If you buy from autobarn/repco/whatever it becomes a LOT more expensive as they mark it up again. Sougi s6000 should be compared with 300v, grade V, so better than grade IV oils but not really necessary for a street car. 8100 is a good grade IV oil, it has heaps of fans on here.

The brief lubes thread in the transmission section mentions the penrite limslip 90 and the syn 75w85 http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Tr....html&st=40 I mentioned the nulon g90 above, it's been replaced (as far as I could tell) by g70. I've got ome vmx-m and g70 to put in my box but the f%$#ing grub screws won't undo, going to buy one of those little gas torches from autobarn, a trolley jack and some car stands and hopefully put in its place haha *galois is then spotted with the r34 on a lorry heading to a mechanic* Anyways, kidding aside, the castrol ones are cheaper and I'm gonna replace them regularly (20000km) for a while to give it a bit of a flush with fresh oil as I don't think it's been taken care of by the prev owner. The thing with oils is they'll all work decently otherwise the company would go out of business with the publicity of a failed oil. So a bit of trial and error is okay.
-
If u want it tomorrow: Go to autobarn and buy what castrol recommends on the castrol australia website. Split a bottle of nulon g90 between them, apparently it helps out. See if your local sougi s6000 sealer has any in stock, or else buy some 8100 xcess, 300v or royal purple from your local autobarn/supercheap/repco/autopro blah blah. People on here seem to like the nulon pre-mixed long life coolant (llc) but replacement means you need to drain the block, radiator and heater heat exchanger. Hope it helps.

I'll definitely be looking for one tomorrow. I remember noticing the scratches on the coilpacks thinking "omg I've found the misfire source", then realised it was because of my giant sockets...
-
Cheers mate, will do. It's so annoying as a newbie, it's so often a case of "don't do it unless you've done it before". Not criticising you mate, just the world haha. I have a mate who's ridiculously competent at this stuff, he's done it all before, I'll see if he's keen on a project day haha. Otherwise my local mechanics a pretty reliable guy, I'm just keen for the experience.
-
I bought three when they were on sale, I've been happy with them so far. Using the last tomorrow, prob go k&n after that.
-
urgh *cries* I guess I'll buy the kudos 100k service kit. Is it hard to install? I'm handy with a spanner but not very experienced...
-
No sticker. Fark, I'm 30k km overdue for a 100k km service aren't I?
-
Ioh I'm gonna give it to the nearby Nissan dealer next time I'm there, don't like being ripped off
-
personally I look forward to using k&n, never heard a bad word said about them and they cost like $22, $4 more than what nissan charged me for their filter
-
*runs out to take off cover to look at sticker...*

Missfire Boost@4500-5500 RPM - The Answer! (for me at least!)
Galois replied to Nightman's topic in General Maintenance
a note for anyone in between the misfire phase and the solution phase: disconnecting the stock boost controller solenoid lowered my boos to the actuator setting (7psi for me) and stopped the misfire, if I'd known that many months ago I'd have saved my engine all that misfire damage (not too bad, wears piston seals apparently, and would only increase the petrol contamination of the motor oil). Just a thought
