  1. Sadly not me, but my dad (over kellyville way) has spotted both orange and yellow Gallardos over the weekend, and pulled in behind a 328 GTS this morning at a petrol station.
  2. Yeah, I should have gone with a manual one! Will again one day, prolly a vrx. There's also the issue of dreamers who think their sh!thouse cars are worth as much as a premium one, oh wait that's an issue with all second hand car buying
  3. Depends on kms, location etc. Seem to be under 5k for what I'm after. Magna is the other car, which would be a significantly better buy in terms of power/riding the wave of torque (300 Nm). Some autos are a bit of a time bomb, I'm one of the unlucky ones apparently. A manual 3rd gen magna with either the 3.0L or 3.5L engine is a real surprise. My brother recently got a manual 2002 magna, 3.5L, with a new clutch, brakes and new suspension, a parana chip (whatever that is) and a tune for 4.5k and it is an absolute beast of torque. The new suspension makes a world of difference too. He's gonna need to upgrade the clutch soon lol. I'm thinking of getting something like that as the next car, if we sell the auto magna. Ahh, one day i'll have a propper sports car again lol, atm I'm just aiming for a running car.
  4. Cheers mate. Yeah, our family had a '94 camry for a lot of years, likewise a '98 one. Both auto 2.2L and both were very reliable (except for some small oil leak that dripped onto and destroyed the timing belt on the '94 one before I owned it). I'm looking for a manual v6, as long as the reliability is still there and the price is right. Just want something that goes, is safe and is reliable. Then to save for a fun car again
  5. Flame suit on. Okay, so had bought a reliable car, a 2000 magna, auto. And the auto box died with the semi-common failure of a wave spring deep in the box. It's been off the road for 3 weeks while I've sourced a cheap, second hand reco'd gearbox and had it shipped from Melbourne. Given I have no car and the magna needs to be towed to a mechanic for the transplant, it could be 2 more weeks before I get the box to the car and get the mechanic to fit it. So, again, looking at a reliable car, to buy asap cos I'm so sick of not having one. I've owned camrys before and they've been pretty damn reliable given the neglect they've received from me and my family (before my automotive enlightenment). Does anyone know how the 3.0L engine compares to the 2.2L, and the manual compares to the auto, in terms of reliability in 1996-2000 camrys? A long shot, I know, but I am amazed at the wealth of knowledge on these forums on a daily basis. Cheers all
  6. BAHAHAHAHA
  7. ^That's what I was thinking, I thought he'd be spearing off the track at every apex
  8. Damn typo, I meant to say r31 not r32 (in case anyone was thinking wtf?)
  9. Bruno's second chance. I wonder how the conversation went? "Bruno, we're going to sub you in for spa, don't worry though, you're uncle was great around here"
  10. I've never found a competent tyre shop sigh
  11. He did in 2008, was 2 tenths down on Raikkonnen's record at Catalunya http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2010/1/10355.html
  12. ^That's pretty damn poor. Was it at lease an r32 he was talking about, or your 34?
  13. Btw if anyone's interested heidfeld may be out due to his uncertain future at renault http://www.itv.com/formula1/news/2011/8/uncertainty-surrounds-nick-heidfelds-renault-future-6572/ Also didn't rossi have a run in an f1 car a few years ago and quickly got within a second of massa or raikkonnen?
  14. Hell yeah That's bs, make the drivers drive, racing is unsafe as it is, they're just making it slightly less interesting
  15. Eau rouge between the drs detection and activation, should be interesting...
  16. Lol, best one I ever got from a young, learner petrol attendant chick "$90 on petrol?! That's what I make in a week!!"
  17. I miss kubica, he could really mix things up sometimes. Anyone read/seen anything lately on his progress?
  18. Ditto, a lot of cars have some feature which makes them interesting, whether it be a torquey engine, a good gearbox, a nice shape etc... Unfortunately it seems most enthusiasts only focus that enthusiasm on one type of car they've decided is the best.
  19. Lol, adding even less to the thread, I actually usually find input from rb25 good. It's interesting to get some insight into the regulators of the law. Eg: what would happen if you were caught driving an unregistered car or speeding or something?
  20. Haha yeah, I did luck out on that one. It was only when the officer spoke to the supervisor that there was any chance of leniency. Also camry's aren't the most radical of cars lol
  21. Cleaned out a rental place in another city having been moving over the past few months, we also thought we could do it in 1 day so ended up sleeping on the floor all night with no furniture, pillows etc... A few years ago I was putting some speakers in my shitty old car, so took mum's camry out to go see some friends in town (in newy). I got rbt'd round 2am when dropping a few of them home, when the officer spotted the rego: "Are you aware the car is out of rego sir?" "No officer, it's actually my mum's car... how long out of rego is it?" Officer looks at her watch, "2 hours" Hahahaha, after a long chat with her supervisor they decided to let me go.
  22. Baha magnatec, worst thing I ever did to my skyline. Was going to put it in for 1000km just to give the engine a wash out with a cheaper oil, ended up taking it out after a few hundred because it sounded like ass and hated to rev.
  23. All engines run rich, that carbon build up in various places, oil removes it. I think I've read a few times that rb engines are particularly carbon heavy, not sure if that's just the stock tune, or the stock tune's reaction to common mods, the engine design or all of those listed.
  24. This is so far the best of these threads I've read. Putting a percentage is bs, but ignoring the power output in the calculation is also pretty uninformed. There is no formula between flywheel and the rubber wheels, but you could get a rough number if you took the engine out, measured flywheel torque, converted to kw, put the engine back in and did a dyno run. There are a lot of variables between cars though, and dyno's aren't the most accurate of devices.
  25. Haha yeah, my gf was telling me how the trip to Bathurst was a really easy 3 lane highway trip, not technical at all. She was pretty surprised (to say the least) to find out there was another way lol
