  1. Short shifter can = shorter gearbox life, just be careful with a standard box.
  2. I found it best to go down to Nissan and have them pull up the parts diagram on screen person to person, too hard for them on the phone and they just give up or are to lazy.
  3. Looks like we've both had more that a few goes at finding the right set up that suits, you live and learn don't you, I just wish it didn't cost so much, Oh God I hope I don't change my mind down the track and go the 9s, and yer i,m lazy too I've left the car in the garage until the coopermix arrives the triple plates a pain in the ass in traffic. I might just buy a boogy board for my next form of entertainment. Cheers!
  4. Hi Ash now you don't need to be doing massive street launches do you, just gearing down to 1st or 2nd gear at a slower speed and your over 4500 rpm in an instant, no lag from 2nd, 3rd, 4th and so on, I've run standard turbo's, 2871-7s and 2871-10s with poncams and now 2860- 5s with standard cams as a happy medium, even with the 10s (I miss the rush and it beats using drugs) its was not like waiting to bake a cake for them to hit boost it was just too hard on the engine and hitting 8300 rpm is not my idea of fun, engine can go Boom! now I don't smoke a pipe or wear a tweed jacket but I would never drive my car on the street in the way a circuit racer would drive on a track...I'm more of a gear it down type of a boy (not in public view of course) with GTRs or RB26s and turbo choice its not like one shoe fits all... that's what makes them so great! as long as people are happy with their set up is whats most important. Keep up the good work
  5. After reading some of the threads regarding Dash 5s, 7s and 9s, its like people drive around in one gear only? (dyno charts) when you think a street GTR travels the first 60 foot in around 1.7 seconds off the mark in 1st gear, you are already well over 4500 rpm, then there's 2nd, 3rd, 4th and so on never dropping below 4500 rpm, surely its good by dick from then on! Go the 5s!!!

  7. I'm with MBS206, there's a lot more science to these engines than you might think, you could take your last engine to guys like CRD or similar for a full measure up and engine report with photos if you want some chance of getting your hard earned money back! and then let them to build it, IMO for me!!! ... start with a brand new crankshaft with Nismo bearings, the ground ones limit bearing grades for accurate bearing clearances. You could buy a shiter just for a run around until you get your other business sorted out as it could take a while, it could save you dollars in the end, anyway best of luck with the path that you choose I hope it all goes well.

Unless your committed in keeping your car from the start there's not point buying and spending bucks on one of these baby's or you will be left disappointed, after all the hard work in getting it right there's no way I'm going to let some Joe beat me down in price only to watch it drive down the road for the last time, I just let my 200sx go after 12 years due to a lack of space, I was sorry to see her go. Let the tyre kickers find out for them self's.
  9. LOL, was thinking the same thing, most of the guy's know and have learn,t off each other very well, still worth the long walk, the bus, two trains then another walk for me.
  10. White Stato lowered, I was at the traffic lights just inside Geelong, he did a brake burnout then flew pass me... blue XR6 turbo right up my ass at Avalon I changed lanes and he flew pass me then lost interest ...Me silver GTR
  11. P.S, on the way down to Geelong there was a trailer parked on the side of road with a big billboard with a dob in a hoon sign on it.
  12. I had a great day Saturday I went for a drive to Geelong, car running like clockwork stereo full bore wind in my hair and sitting on 95km/h all the way there and back. Down side, 5 cars put it on me for a drag, 1 Statesman, 1 XR 6, 1 Commadore and sadly 2 Skylines all in (full view) of traffic! boys boys boys, your letting the team down!!!
  13. I got chased down in Port Melbourne some time ago and this cop was really moving, I was doing 55ks, at the lights and before he could speak I said Come on mate Im not a hoon I just love these cars can you give me a break.. after a while he nodded his head and just took off with out a word so yer there are some good ones. On the muffler side I made some enquires today and spoke to Chris from Racepace (New owner) he would not sell me a muffler unless I purchased the full system, I rang Nizpro this afternoon they know someone who will make one up for me, a purpose made Aussie 3 1/2' muffler stuffed with steel wool and it has twin tips which I would prefer (cop friendly), it should be ready in a week or two, apparently quiet and high flow so ill give it a go, I sourced some 3 1/2" s/s elbows from a truck exhaust shop and a meter of 3.1/2 s/s tube so its out with the cut off wheel and the Tig welder and then back to the Dyno so maybe baby 350kws and quiet, I just need to get rid of the cannon it has a 5 1/2" o.s Dia Hopefully this will be enough to keep the police at bay, I think with the goings on of late its left me a little paranoid and it will pass, if not I,m just gunna have to deal with it, it,s not the end of the world, as I write this I can hear a bunch of Harleys roaring up the beach road, Lol. Thanks for the comments.
  14. Hi miran1313, I,m on a roll, I'm just to close to stop now on what I should have had over 2 years ago (2 f?$&king years!!!) Thanks for letting me drive your almost stall proof car it was really good of you!, but I weakened and purchased the Coppermix. Once again, Thanks Champ.
  15. Correct a Moundo!!!, the only story I have from down that end of Town is that I purchased a set of brand new Dash-5 Turbo,s, it took me 3 years to find out they were 2871-7s which were supplied by Raceline or Racingline Performance?, as for the other story, I think a man in your position should know hopefully for the sake of others (its a bad one a real bad one!!!).
  16. Silver, I think a lot of people don't speak to certain people any more! (he had a white one) I spoke to Mick from Micolor a couple of weeks ago and I seen a nice R31 in for a paint job, I seem to remember a guy fitting an exhaust to it a few years ago, I think that guy may have been you! that same guy told me not to go to far with my car and save some dollars and to keep the standard cams in it, God I wish I had listened Simon from Nizpro has done the latest engine build and all work on my car, Ben from Racepace has also been helpful' he may tell you an interesting story about my car. Cheers
  17. I have a full plug in loom set up for a Motec M800, I'm not sure if it plugs into a M48, I could find out, it has boost control, Map sensor, AFM deletes etc, flick the switches for 4 different tune set ups, MSG or PM if interested. I think the Power FC would be a better choice for you.
  18. Ive got the stock airbox in and going back to a standard gearbox, I have a PPG in at the moment, the triple plate clutch is coming out and and Ive settled on a coppermix twin (standard spec) clutch which will arrive from Japan soon, I have GZILLER number plates which will remain on my wall at home, Im finished with calder and any track work I had planned ' I intend on keeping this car for years to come so I'm having a real crack at this, the car is becoming a pleasure to drive again. Ash you may know this car from the past, one of Ice Performance's last client, Tim's old GTR if that ring's a bell. Cheers
  19. It just goes to show what I missed out on with my past set up, car was pushing out 350kw at all fours using the same 3" muffler. Damn it !!!!!!!
  20. Having trouble with my scanner so can't print the Dyno sheet, at 2500rpm shows 50kw's, 5000rpm shows 275kw's, 5500rpm shows 315kw's, 7000rpm shows 338kw's, then the graph disappears at 7100rpm. I'm sick of spending cash on this car but I'm so close now' I might have to buy one of $700 fabricated 3.1/2" mufflers with the twin tips and maybe a cheaper one in the center and take my chances, Cops did a u turn and came after me the other night so I hide down a side street, bloody shame really since I drive it like a pensioner, have never lost my licence or caused an accident, I just love my car. What do you think of the Dyno figures. cheers Nick
  21. I'm being a bit of a fussy bastard that's all, the car still pulls really hard and runs better than ever, its just seems a shame not to get the full potential out of the car that I have been denied for so long due to bad advice and workmanship of the past, thanks for your comment it has merit.
  22. Shit!, that really surprises me, I thought Bozods was just playing around, I had a theory that when the exhaust gases cooled down it would shrink slightly making it less restrictive at the muffler, has given me something to think about. Thanks
  23. Ive been on a long journey of changers with my car which is now coming close to an end (thank God!) I was going for 350rwkw but have fallen a little short with 338rwkw on tap. I'm running dash 5s with a forged engine but pretty much of standard configuration, I have Tomei manifolds and dumps, apexi GT front pipe, Matrix 3.5" cat and a 3.1/2" exhaust which tapers down to a 3" Nizmo cannon muffler.(loud) I was thinking by the time the exhaust gases cool down to the rear muffler that this would not be much of a restriction, maybe I was wrong?. After searching the Net Ive come across a Magnaflow 3/12 muffler, Ive been epa'd before and running 285 RE55 tyre's on all paws so I'm becoming a police magnet in the current climate, I'm pretty handy with the Tig so maybe I could kill two birds with one stone and install two of these mufflers, have my 350rwkw and a quiet car, or am I just chasing my tail, Just after some opinions from people with a greater knowledge than myself. Thanks
