  5. Now you tell me!, Hehe don't ya just love these cars! Best of luck with the development of your beast. Cheers Brother!
  6. I've had 4 different engines in my car now but never a 2.8 stroker so I cant make comment, as far as a 2.6 go's I've had Garrett 2871-7s, 2871-10s similar to a GT-RS all with 260 x 260 9.15 cam shafts with a STD head and Tomei springs, now running 2860-5s with STD cam shafts. Maybe down a bit in top end but the response has left me gob smacked, now that's an every day driver!, personal choice really, but I aint never going back!!!!
  7. Thanks guys, since Ive spent $3g on a clutch already, Im thinking I wish I had of brought a Nismo Coppermix and that would have been the end of that one, I have spoken to both Ben from Race Pace and Simon from Nizpro who put me on to the idea of an organic clutch. (hard to beat for feel) Don't get me wrong, I still think the Exedy triple plate is a great clutch (a bit to much grip for me) but it smash 3rd gear on a STD box the very first time I stuck the boot into it, and that was on low tune. The box is coming out with in days, PPG is supplying a replacement upgraded 1st gear so was thinking clutch change now! I think I've got time to wait for Nizpro or Race Pace to open before the box goes back in so I will be chatting with them very soon, I still like the Jim Berry but I must be getting old cause Im favoring the organic clutch. Hey Miran, I would love to give your clutch a try, PM me and I'll give you a call. Thanks to all that helped!
  8. Point taken, that's why im doing a bit of research, I've never heard one operate before so I wouldn't know, the topic as been done to death for some but the feed back has been helpful, the clutch has been the hardest decision I have had to make so far and it gives me something to mull over. Thanks for the comments.
  9. I've looked at the coppermix and yes a more friendly clutch but still with some bite, they still rattle, having had an xtreme twin plate and now a exedy triple plate, Im over it, Im hoping the organics will have less noise but I expect a much better feel as Melbourne's traffic is pretty bad now, the box is coming out soon so it's a good time to do the clutch............I've just got off the phone from Jim Berry for two hours, had a good talk about his single plate up grade with a lower clamp pressure that may suit my needs, he said it will have the slip I need to take off at the traffic lights as well as the grip in the clutch when needed, the twin plate organic will still rattle so its sounding like the Jim Berry clutch maybe a good clutch to consider, easy take offs are important to me and it would just top the car off is this was the case, any comments would be of help.
  10. I've gone for a more standard set up on my car with smaller turbos and back to standard cam shafts etc, I have a Triple plate clutch which I now feel is not needed, this car will see no track work or nights at Calder, Im just after a daily driver now that will be more suited to day time traffic and feel like a standard car. The car will be running around 350 to 360rwkw with the final tune, I've been told a twin plate organic clutch may suit my needs, I was wondering if anyone was using such a clutch and how they find it, any comments would be of interest, Cheers Guys.....
  11. I am currently re-engineering my car in Total, losing many go fast bits, Ill start with the Box and Clutch, it has not seen any track work or the drag strip. I am going back to a standard gear box with an organic clutch so its not needed, It is still under warranty and will go through a full check up and service on the 06/01/10 before sale, it also comes with a PPG Billet Main shaft, it has only had 3 month road use around Melbourne driven like someone wanting to keep there licence. Box cost me over $8,250 + GST in parts alone so everything done, this dose not include the labor cost in the build or the gearbox supplied and is rated at 900HP, the Clutch was $2,650 + GST so some dollars spent. Can test as its still in the car, I will separate only if the box sells first. Box $7,000 Clutch $1,700 If interested could you pls PM me, Cheers Guys
  12. I seem to have a larger than normal front spoiler lip, maybe a Nizmo? as it looks standard it just sits closer to the road and measures 125mm, so im after standard type if anyone knows of one. Cheers Guys.
  13. I think a metal head gasket and ARP studs would be a total waste of money for you, why do you need to change the gasket for? maybe just keep you money instead.
  14. Yes you can, they weld beautifully in the flat position, just make sure you use safety glasses when chipping the welds, the slag can pop out and land in your eye if not cleaned and wire brushed properly.
  15. After looking at many GTRs I'm of the opinion now that so many of them that have had the clock turned back its not funny, go for the best car I would say.
  16. Its not just the cops, I had a dickhead cut me off so I gave him mouth full when at the traffic lights, next thing I get a fine in the mail saying I have thrown a smoke butt out the window, the same time and date, I was a non smoker?, the whole thing turned out to be a pain in the ass, looks like he got me back good hey!
  17. Thanks guys, your are dead right in what you are saying and I do understand, I have an appointment Monday with a solicitor, he loves his cars and picked up on what I was saying much faster than the other two solicitors, you see I don,t want to f@&k this up so I need someone that,s on the ball, good QC are easy to find, with solicitors, I have dealt with many dudes in the past. I believe my engine builders is at leased in the top two in Melbourne for the RB26 and he even runs his own seminars for engine building and tuning for other workshops around Australia so his resume will be excellent in court, he is also doing a full report with photos and all measurements and f@&k up's, no tuner-builder want to bag another tuner-builder in court unless it's personal. I want to take this straight to the Magistrates Court if I can as I'm seeking all cost, I don't want to air all my dirty laundry but one small example is my brand spanking new crankshaft turns out to be some secondhand peace of shit with under size bearings, that's a sin in my book! all bearings big end and mains now rooted after only 2000ks, and that's just the start of it. Thanks Priestley Ill hang on to the number if the new solicitor doesn't work out Ill give him a call. Thanks guys! P.S I can't keep out of my car now, the new engine feels awesome!
  18. Hi guys, Im in a really good mood tonight, Im picking my car up tomorrow from a workshop in Bayswater with a freshly built RB26 engine and with great customer service, the car is running like clockwork so it is now time to take it off there hands for my long awaited enjoyment, unfortunately my old engine builder-tuner has been a very very bad boy so I need to take him to court, I intend on giving him one almighty kick in the nuts (so to speak) for what he has done, as I have an outstanding case against him. I have a couple of solicitors but they dont know the differense between a sparkplug and a fan belt, its not there field so I need someone who specializes in this area so I can sort this out, if anyone knows of or could recommened a solicitor that might fit the bill it would be greatly appeseated. Cheers Guys.
  19. Must have been small maoris
  20. New rods are cheap, Engine rebuilds are expensive, go to the best known RB26 engine builder in your state if you want it to last.
  21. Having had 3 engine rebuilds I would start with a brand new crank, FULL STOP!
  22. I have a Motec M800 if you are interested?

In the mean time you need to create a paper trail, don't just call the Melbourne City Council remember people are slack, sent them off an email making a request cc to your solicitor as well, it looks better down the track like you made some sort of effort and it may stick a boot in there ass and get them moving.
  24. another trick if you can is to run a hacksaw cut down one side of the nut close to the thread removing part of the nut, then a little tap with a chisel down the cut, this will destress the nut and make it easy to remove, i've done hundreds of them working on maintenance, Good Luck!
  25. If you can get access try using a small sharp cold chisel and give it a couple of hits right in the center of the nut, this will spread the nut, then apply the vice grips.to remove.
