  1. haha righto then, how long you guys usually down there for?
  2. ^^ i dont mind the current rims - love the dish but yeah wouldnt mind a change.. cheers for the advice lads
  3. lol nah i meant $600-$700 to fix rims.. rims that i want to buy are closer to the 2grand mark but with a discount i can get them for around 1700 with rubber.. Thats the dilemma.. fix my rims + paint + then replace rubber in a few months or buy brand new set of rims with rubber..
  4. for what its worth think of it this way yeah sure your wasting almost $300 bucks a pop - but whats worse - buying a dud because your impatient, next thing you've got a car sitting in the driveway thats f**ked which will cost a couple of grand to fix.. trust me, i was pulling my hair out for months trying to find a decent skyline. Luckily RACQ actually reduce the costs of an inspection if your bringing multiple cars in. I must have brought about 3 cars to racq, the worst of which the mechanics refused to give me the keys back as the front left wheel was just about to fall off. the mechanic said your f**king crazy for even driving this let alone thinking of buying it. but anyway.. i ended up buying my current car.. i was not 100% satisfied with it, but then again it was a decent price, made up a load of bs to the seller that the turbo was on its way out, got the car for about 3 grand less than what he wanted.. brought it to my mechanic, he said there are a few very minor problems but apart from that the car is in fantastic condition for its age (have had the car for 12 months, hasn't missed a beat) only problem i have a small clutch problem which is an easy fix. all in all - you will never find a skyline that your 100% happy with, you just have to be patient, willing to spend a little bit to get the decent ones checked out.. but as a rule of thumb with imports.. if your budget is e.g $15k - try go for a skyline around the $12K mark - keep some cash in your wallet as your bound to run into a few problems.
  5. will do, just hope you lot aren't like the boost lads where they stand around and ignore anyone new.
  6. sweet cheers for the suggestions. Looking at roughly $550-$700 for complete fix of the rims + paint (called a few places today). the only thing thats bugging me is its only another $700 more for a nice set of rims + rubber..

  8. Just looking for any suggestions about my rims.. they are a bit gutter rashed from the previous owner and bits of the clear coat have started to peel off. I was thinking either fixing them up and leaving them as per the pic but a mate said leave the dish polished and paint the 'ninja death star' parts glossy black. I wouldn't mind new rims but the wallet disagrees at the moment. Suggestions?
  9. dont know why but i thought of this immediately.

  14. ill drive my 33 down to you for 15k...
  15. check for any leaks too.. make sure nothing is loose
  16. re-gap the plugs - check the coilpacks - how much boost are you running -what other mods?
  17. from the pics i think i know exactly where this is - i've nearly put my skyline into the centre divide a few times in the wet, it has the poorest drainage around springwood.. that coupled with crap roads, its a death trap.. I can barely manage 80km/h in the wet going through springwood.
  18. http://www.denso.com.au/Products/Aftermark...Used-Spark-Plug PRE-IGNITION A melted or burned centre and/or ground electrode, blistered insulator and aluminium or other metallic deposits on the insulator. Symptoms: Loss of power causing engine damage, pre-ignition occurs when combustion begins before the timed spark occurs. Causes: Plug insufficiently tightened. Engine insufficiently cooled. Ignition timing too advanced. Plug heat range too hot.
  19. flush with the tap - put the screw back in - fill it up with tap water + some radiator flush - turn engine on with radiator cap off - idle for a few mins - drain / flush with tap water - fill up with coolant + top up with distilled water.. has never failed me. (someone correct me if im wrong)
  20. ^ lol sorry mate, i read your post wrong, thought you were implying that once the car is sold person B then has to worry about the loan..
  21. keep thinking that.. i deal with this on a daily basis.. if you buy an encumbered car - client i.e a bank - needs to be paid out usually within 48 hours to settle the account. If this does not happen - the bank usually will place the car at risk and will actively pursue any lead to locate the car i.e issue it to debt collectors etc. If the car cannot be located / loan has not been paid - usually it will be reported to police as a stolen vehicle.. (after all its the banks property and its at risk) chances are the new owner (who probably has no idea its encumbered unless he's paid for the revs check etc etc) police WILL take the car - the bank then gets notified the car has been recovered - usually it will just go to auction after they try recover funds from previous owner. in the end, the person who buys an encumbered car loses out.. The car gets taken, no questions asked, its up to them to then persue the previous owner for his refund whether that be going to his house to demand the refund or going through the courts..
  22. probably been said but whats to say he didnt break something on his way home.. i wouldnt worry about him. ^^ dan is right too about encumbered cars, i deal with this crap on a daily basis
