09GTR i was trying to find a picture of your car shooting sparks in the dark last night. But instead i found this photo of you wearing your orange headband and holding your boobs from falling around your feet...

09GTR ran the Dunlops and I ran the Bridgestones - both of them absolutely fried... We are both moving to Volk RE30's and Hoosier R6 slicks in the next month. Both have AP rotors slotted 09, J Hook on mine and carbotek 12's. Do you have harnesses Duncan? or a Race seat? i was being thrown around the car in the standard seats... Jeff could to meet you to dude - we all gotta hook up for the next EC day - i'll email you the stuff we talked about at the servo. Gotta get those quarter mile times down to low 11's...

spoke to whiteline? they said no front bar will be avaliable only rear? and that they are still 4-6 weeks away from releasing the rear bar???

Righto because 09GTR and I want complete track spec tyre no compromise we are going to give the 19's a shot - we will run Hoosiers on track (approx 7kg lighter per wheel i think) and stick with standard rims & bridgestone / dunlops for the road. There is word that Bridgestone may be replacing the re55s with the re11s and it will be avaliable in a 19 sometime in the future. Fingers crossed. Fall back position will be to run R888's if we cant use hoosiers at some events. Surely its only a matter of time before these tyre companies make more options avaliable in 19's. We will report back once we have done some track time on the Hoosiers.

Why do you need 19's for Targa? I had the Pirelli P Zero Corsa on my porsche 911s and they were awesome. Running 19's on the GTR you will save probably at least 5kg per cnr and they should be pretty good on the road. Guessing you might want to run 315/30/19s on 11inch rims rear and 295/30/19s on 10 inch at the front? thats just a guess?

Id def wait and get the 2nd series australian car with the upgraded suspension, tranny cooler etc etc... Dont buy the current car for anything over 165k.

Duncan your a brave man to be tackling this project on those stands even with a floor jack as a safety!! Good on you dude. Ive done the AP J hook rotors, Carbotek 12 (yeah they squeal like a bitch) and Stillen braided lines and now the braking is simply amazing. The pedal has so much bite that it just hauls the car down from 200+ to 50 in a couple of seconds. If you have a spare $300 get some stillen braided lines cause when i compare my brakes to 09 GTR who has the similar set up my pedal is def stronger which would be good for your sprints.

so do we know how much weight it actually saves? and any idea what the sound is like?

get some AP Slotted rotors for about $850 each and then some ferodos or better endless MX72. all up about $2500. Way better than stock and Nissan cant void anything on you - the dealers have no idea, they just follow Nissan australia's rules... Having said that Brookvale guys are awesome at least they think outside the square... Stock rotors are rubish for track work anyway. Good for the street but they dont cool down after track use. They dont have a curved vane cooling system so they just heat soak if you stop after driving etc. Thats why your pads are stuffed and your rotors will crack after another track day or two. PM me if you want to chat about this in more detail.

Thanks for sharing this info guys. i have just ordered a set of Volk RE30 19's with Hoosier R6 slicks from the USA. Same set up as alot of guys in the USA are running. Clearances are fine and being Volk im sure there is no question over their strength etc. RE30 19x10.0 +30 5-114.3 RE30 19x11.0 +20 5-114.3 I know they will be more expensive but will be good to compare in the New Year and see how they go against your set up. Dont quote me on this but i also think this set up above is approx 7kg lighter per corner.

$5k for the 3 days.

holy crap 2.13? thats amazing... wow... V8's are quicker because. they are lighter they have more power they brake later they carry more speed across the top And you have a professional race driver etc etc... Next year im doing the sprint - aiming for a 2.25 lap.

Nissan Australian are not used to dealing with high perofrmance cars and they have must have NO pull with Japan - Nissan Aust seems to be full of YES men!! $170k car and we didnt even get Sat Nav or a reverse camera???????????????? hello??? Alcon would be one of the best but massively expensive!!! Check out www.gtrblog.com and look at all the different tuner parts etc - heaps of info for you AP Slotted or Jhook rotors and Ferodo DS2500 pads will do nicely. I put Endless MX72 Pads in my car - they are better than Ferodo but more expensive Ive owned recent model porsches - they def know how to handle their product and their customers!!! New GT3 will be amazing - but $300k++?
-
Mate dont even go there with Nissan!!! Im sure the rotors are fine and if anything may have hairline cracks in them which is totally acceptable with vented disks. you wont need to replace them until they REALLY crack up and you will know when just by looking at them. Get yourself some Ferodo DS2500's and stick some new brake fluid in it and she will be fine for probably another 10,000kms (unless you do a track day every month). 09GTR had a similar situation and its just because Nissan have to service your car by the BOOK!! they have strick instructions and that means they recommend replacement of everything. 09GTR who has one of the fastest and hardest driven GTR's in Australia had similar kms to you and same overall situation. We just wacked in some new pads and fluid and good as new, in fact with the new pads better than new!!!
-
yeah im still giving thses rims some serious thought - although the Zele rims are sick as well... i recon the $$ will get a bit stronger as well - before it comes crashing down again! great time to be ordering from the US.
-
Thanks mate, i'll be talking to Croydons ASAP. Let us know how it goes when you fix those wheel studs.
-
Duncan, off topic but are you running one of these new Cobb Maps that everyone is talking about? If so hows it going and did you get it from Willall?
-
Duncan get a set of H&R Wheel spacers - they come with longer bolts etc. Attached are two links for you to read - 09GTR and i have just ordered them. http://www.perrinperformance.com/products/...46&model=27 http://www.perrinperformance.com/products/...46&model=27

Just ordered Stillen Sway bars from Forged Performance in the US and H&R Wheel Spacer kit from Perrin Performance in the US. I'll have them installed in a few weeks and report back the handling changes. Plus i want a set of these rims!!
