i know for the rotor blokes dalton automotive is the choice for microtechs. should be getting my tx5 done there soon. not sure how they would be with a 6cyl, but i know they have done a few vl's.

it sounds like the ebc isnt setup properly. ive seen the same thing happen on my mates 180sx. try fiddling around with it.

Sounds like a boost leak of some sort. check your intercooler piping before buying a new turbo.

Do the vg30 turbos have ceramic rear wheels? Because that looks awfully similar to my turbo, which i have always suspected was an rb25 turbo...

I have just purchased a to4 compressor wheel with an inducer size of ~50mm and an exeducer size of ~75mm. I am looking to use this wheel in my r33 turbo but i have a few questions. The first is will any t04 comp cover fit on the hitachi centre cartridge? The second is there a non ceramic turbine wheel with ~6.5mm shaft that will fit the turbo? Thanks in advance. Nick.

Isnt the 1jzgte (2.5ltr) and 2jzgte (3.0ltr) from the mk3 jza80 supra? I thought the 1uz was from the soarer (4.0L quad cam v8)? They run a twin turbo variation of one of these engines in the hks drag supra.

I thought leaky hose so i changed it, same thing. Boost has settled to 8psi through every gear to redline. BTW, I have an 88 TX5 Turbo with full engine rebuild (forgies, resized rods, knife edged crank etc), ported head, standard manifold with r33 s1 gtst turbo (plain bearing) and some other goodies. Still have to get it tuned with the microtech and fuel system upgrades. Shooting for 160kw atw on 14psi.

i installed mine yesterday and had it running at stock boost. The ext wastegate spring is 7psi, and prior to installing the boost controller, my boost was 6psi constant. after installing it, boost went up to 8psi (the instructions say it will go up slightly), but then it started boosting higher and higher until the wastegate wouldnt open! i pulled it off and ran straight hose from turbo to wastegate, and now my boost is at 10psi. I dont understand how it can be at 6psi for 3 months, then go up to 10psi by itself?

I have an EMS Stinger 4424 for sale (version 3 i think?). had it in a wrx, but sold the car since, and returned it to its standard form. ecu was in the car for 3 months, and pumped out a healthy 160kw at all four wheels on 15 psi, tuned by xtc in coburg. In regards to the turbine wheel delaminating from the shaft, i thought this was a result of excessive heat, not shaft rpm. I have a 2.5inch o2 housing, meaning less heat/backpressure. also, i was thinking of richening up the mixtures slightly to provide lower egt's. i would have thought 17psi was a safe amount of boost to run. 14psi just seems to low. Oh yeh, the car will be running 7 psi for day to day driving. this higher boost level would be for the drag strip only.

I purchased some sort of nissan turbo last year for my TX5, and am not entirely sure what it is... It has 45V4 on the comp housing, six single compressor blades, a nut on the compressor side that is about 1.5 cm long (its a big nut compared to my old ihi one). From what I have gathered on this site it is a series 1 turbo, but im unsure whether it has a ceramic wheel. I plan to run 17psi with this turbo, is it possible? Also I am aiming for 175-185kw atw in a 2.2L sohc engine. I have a fully rebuilt engine, extensive head work, large fmic, microtech, 550cc injectors and a few other goodies. Judging by the comp. housing I'd say its a turbo off an early rb20. I'm not too sure on the .63 a/r on the rear, as I don't know what sort of exhaust specs they run. Click the link for a run down on the nissan turbo's. Click. Hope it helps! Nick.

in response as to why it has been converted to an external gate: i would say this would be due to spacing issues because of how the turbo is mounted on the manifold.i think it is on the opposite side of the engine as to how it would be mounted on a gt-r. i dont think an internal wastegate actuator would fit in there. thanks for the clarification on sizing. so technically, a gts-t turbo would be an upgrade. i plan to run 10psi on it until i upgrade my intercooler and get a larger fuel pump. now i know how much i can turn the boost up. could i possibly get away with 15psi? regards, nick.

hello, my name is nick and i own a 88 tx5 turbo. i have recently purchased a complete turbo setup for my car and it consists of the standard manifold with an adaptor plate and an r33 gtr turbo, 35mm hks external wastegate with screamer pipe and a 2.5inch dump pipe. the turbo is significantly bigger than my old sotcker turbo, but i dont know much about them. i have a few questions (i done a quick search, and couldnt find what i was after). firstly, what is the sizing of a gtr turbo (ie: how many cfm's does it flow? is it equivalent to a t28, t3 etc?). secondly, is it a ball bearing centre? if not what type of bearings does it use? and finally does this turbo use a ceramic exhaust wheel? what is a safe boost level on it? sorry about all the questions, but i dont know much about these particular turbos. regards, nick.

well done meggala! i was the guy you were talking to at the start....with the tx5. my pb was a 14.4@96mph. i wish i had over 200kw atw!
