  1. It will be good, hopefully if we get some of the higher powered MX6's (200kW ATW plus) it should make for an interesting day
  2. We should organise a cruise together... I'll happily give you guys a run. I don't care if I win or lose, it's all about the fun. Tripharn
  3. Yea, there is a trick though... and it is an engine swap. It is a direct fit engine (so it's not cheating in my mind anyway ), and is pretty much identical to the SR20 engine, except by what I've seen them do, they are probably stronger (I know you are thinking, no way... but you just have to see it to believe it). Also, for the $6k you would have to install the engine, wire up the computer etc. yourself. That is my budget anyway, and I know of people who are getting close to 200kW while spending a fair bit less. (The engine sells for less than $1000). Oh, and I didn't count all the stuff I already have on the car, such as exhaust (but I'll still need new a dump pipe etc). Also, for being pedantic, it won't be rwkw, as it is front wheel drive, so maybe a little more power due to their being less drivetrain loss on a front wheel drive. So, on another note, the power will be there, but traction won't. As for TX5, yea, if it is between an 88-90 then it is the same engine as the MX6.
  4. There is 3 of them within 15mins drive of where I live.... And money wise, if you where to do it on the cheap, it would cost around $5k - $6k depending on how much work you did yourself. So, on top of a purchase price of $6k, that is a pretty quick car for only $11k. On that topic, 2 of those 3 cars are for sale if anyone wants one
  5. If the MX6 has even a half decent driver you won't beat him off the line, even with the MX6 being front wheel drive. With a boost controller and a $200 ECU mod that 5psi changes to 15psi and the car is completely different again. But after that, if the MX6 is pretty stock you should run it down. But be aware there when you pull up against them lately as there is alot of these cars pushing over 220kW ATW. :whip:
  6. Mate, go read the posts instead of looking at the pretty pictures of MX6's. There has been at least 2 posts quoting 13sec track times for stock GTR's..... I'm not calling all them liars... just you :shake:
  7. Well I got the 206kW off the Nissan website... 15% drivetrain loss on a 4WD is pretty bloody good! and for a car that is about 10yrs old then 5% is also very good! I admitted that I didn't know exactly since I don't own one and couldn't find the info on the net... not that I looked for hrs though. You haven't proven me wrong yet, or offered me an alternative. And I repeat again, I never said that I would win, or that I have one. So again, get your facts straight. If you think that my facts are unsubstantiated then look at the other posts. I'm going off their figures too, quoting stock GTR's from 12-13secs.... So I'm pretty close aren't I? Not that unsubstantiated I think. Maybe you want to tell me what the stock car will get? Just going off your head and not quoting any proven facts doesn't prove much at all... just that you don't know either, but at least I said I was guessing. Unlike you. Tripharn
  8. LOL... that is pretty funny. I'll remember that. I don't remember how money come into it... but I think it came back to the, since our cars where made in the 80's they where shit or something. So I just said, yea and less than half the price buddy.... or something. I forget. pentae - We'll have a cruise up the Sunshine Coast at the end of Uni exams... if I remember I'll add a post here. If not, try to remember to add post over on our site about your next one.... CIAO! I really am going to bed... now that The Bachelor III has finished ... :headshot:
  9. Hehehe, that is cool Good night! You won't be able to miss my MX6... its white with a bonnet vent... cya round the streets. I like this one too...
  10. I'm getting tired and I want to go to bed. So this is my last post. I like Silvias... in fact I nearly bought one instead of the MX6, but I wasn't greatly impressed after going for a drive in one. But going from $9k to $13.7k is an extra $4700... which in fact is enough to buy another MX6 or over half the total cost of my car! Do you see what I'm trying to say??? You might not like FWD and to be honest I didn't like the idea in the first place. But get in one, and like I've always said. You'll be surprised. GOOD NIGHT! Remember I look forward to the cruise. If you are in Brisbane Pantae bring your Silvia along... I'll give you a head start Just kidding! Tripharn
  11. You must have me confused with someone else Ait I never said that I have beaten a Skyline, since I don't remember racing one. Maybe you should check your facts mate, because I'm simmering down??? I've not changed... you have me confused. In fact read my threads I have made a point of not saying I have beaten a Skyline... damn, I really hope you aren't talking about me otherwise I've wasted more time than I thought since you don't even read what is written. Tripharn
  12. For bang for your buck you need to quote figures! My car is a '91. Has the following... Power: 150kw ATW Weight: ~1200kg Qtr Mile: Haven't done it yet.. need a clutch Accessories include. Power assisted, speed sensitive 4 Wheel Steering. ABS A/C Sunroof Electric everything Cruise control blah blah blah Total cost of car is less than $9000 including mods. Now tell the truth, how much have you spent? Tripharn
  13. No your not... We all know that the 2nd Gens are far more powerful than the 1st Gens. Ok, ok... I'm only joking. I don't want to start this again Tripharn
  14. Remember I said stock (I have always stated stock, since this was the original scenario).... and I would hope that it is pulling 13 secs... otherwise I will be beside you if you aren't! Tripharn
  15. I didn't say I would win... I said it would be close and unless you have been in my car then basically you know shit and I'm pretty sure your head wouldn't fit in the door anyway. I really don't care if I offend GTR owners... I said it would be close. I didn't say I would win, so get over yourself and your cars. I could buy 2 MX6's for one of your cars and go on a yearly holiday with the money I save on insurance. All that was said was that a guy beat a Skyline. It is possible you know! If you don't think that it can happen then you really know nothing about our cars... which is becoming extremely obvious. See you guys on the street. Remember to invite us on a cruise... I hope you aren't all idiots. Tripharn
  16. Ignore where that thread went too... it just went down the shit and I just started paying people out for the fun of it. It was all a big joke to most people (well to me anyway)... just like this thread. You don't have to defend your cars, we all know what they are capable of. It's just all good fun. The next cruise you guys organise in Brisbane then start a post for us... I'll try my hardest to come. If my clutch is fixed! Tripharn
  17. Yea, I was going to talk about that in the thread but decided not to. Look, I was as surprised as you guys, as I got it dynoed only a week after I bought the car and never expected the result. But I got it done at Chiptorque on the Gold Coast and they tend to have a fairly accurate dyno from all reports. But the thing is, everyone has similar results, the lowest being 92kW that I have heard from an '88. Mine is '91 BTW. But it is sooo common that something has to be up with that 106kW figure stated. Tripharn
  18. All that was said on mx6.com was that a guy just upped his boost and was testing his car and beat a Skyline. Thats it.... No one mentioned modding the Skyline or whatever, and no-one said that the MX6 will win everytime. No-one said that the Skyline driver was the best driver to hit the streets. In fact the owner said that the driver might have been high on exhaust fumes after drinking a bottle of methanol and smoking a whole paddock of weed. It really got out of hand. All he was trying to say was, that it is a new car with the extra boost. And I can tell you that a stock MX6 is pretty crap, but with only a few mods... you will be surprised. You will probably win, but I guarantee you, you will be surprised. That is all. Tripharn
  19. I can pull out and scan my damn dyno chart if you want where I got 106kW. We don't compare your car to NA sigma in regards to traction, so why compare ours? They are different cars... Remember this post started on our forums, you guys started this forum to laugh at us. The whole thread on our forum stated it was a modded MX6 and a fairly stock Skyline. If you want to chagne the topic to make yourself feel good, go right ahead. But don't complain that this happens when you guys started the damn thread in the first place. Tripharn
  20. I was quoting the 2.5L if you talking to me.... I'm not trying to start a flame war. In fact I think it is fun. If you want to race me, I don't care... If you win, good on you, if I do, good on me. If you do win then it is just more motivation for me to play around some more, and vice-versa. Look, I could go on forever trying to prove something and neither of us will get anywhere. Its all in good fun really. The R32 GTR is over 200kg heavier than my car (if I took my stereo out), and a stock (I said stock) R32 has 206kw at the fly and 260ft/lb... compared to my car at with 150kw ATW... assuming about a 15% drivetrain loss on the GTR its 176kw ATW with say another 5% (at least) loss due to age... and you are at 168kw. So, we have an extra 18kW in a car that is 200kg heavier and the same amount of torque. Now I admit I don't know how much of a exponential power increase is generated from the Skyline and I don't know how long the turbo can hold boost for... so I'm only assuming here. But if this was the situation... a stock R32 GTR Skyline Vs a modded MX6... then it is at least a close race. Tripharn
  21. Hey guys, Just like to introdce myself. I love my MX6... why? Because it costs less than half than your car does, and to me it has more features that make it a nicer car to drive and is a bit more unique than a fairly common Skyline. Especially where I live. But, I would still take a Skyline over a Commodore Firstly, a stock MX6 was supposed to be about 106kw at the engine. However, ask any MX6 owner what they have their cars dyno at you will hear around 100kw+ at the wheels with engines that are 10 years old and completely stock! Now my car has had the fuel remapped, boost at about 15psi etc etc... and I dyno at just less than 200hp ATW with about 230 ft/lb torque. Now, I know the torque figure is pretty high, in fact it is just less than a stock R32 at 260 (Nissan website). But this is why our cars are so quick off the mark. We have a lighter car than you, and also a 2.2L engine that is designed specifically for torque rather than HP, hence our horsepower peaks at about 5000rpm. Now I have been in both cars, and I know how good your cars are. I'm not going to say I would beat a stock R32 or whatever, but I'll be quietly confident. Unless you have been in a MX6 with a decent amount of mods then you really can't comment. Just thought I would emphasise that we are talking about a modded MX6 and a fairly stock R33.... so lets not get carried away with mods and stuff. Also, here is a thread from a fairly well known forum about R33's... have a read of it. http://board.performanceforums.com/forums/...2&highlight=r33 I look forward to replies. Tripharn
