  1. I have read that thread a heap of times and other on the subject but could never get the answer i was after. I know you have to use the rb25 or rb26 head (weather r32/r33/r34) the issue was can all the rb20 sensors fit/run on the rb25 head and rb30 block.
  2. hey guys i have a r32 with an rb20 and i want to built an rb30det to put into it i have done a fair bit of research and cant remember seeing anything about doing it this way and was wondering if some one can confirm if this way will or wont work? What i was thinking was to use an rb25det head on the rb30 block and not run vct then transfer all rb20 sensors over to the rb25/30. I know about the injectors issue but i was planning on getting a manifold to suit the rb25 but use top feed injectors. It was years ago i had both cas side by side but from memory there the same. the air flow metre would be rb20 for start up only then switch to a z32 if everything is running. Will the rb20 ecu run the rb30 just for start up? anyway its an idea and if any one can inform me of why it will/wont work it would be awsome. cheers
  3. One of the local drifters here in the west (borneo) runs a rb30det ceffy and has done for a while (gets thrashed sits on limiter all day). I asked about the build he said he went through a couple motors at the start all to do with oil issues but most of them still lasting a season or so. the latest motor has been in there for a few years with no problems, he said the only difference between the last motors and this was a dry sump setup. I would say for your street car no problems running standard gear but for a track car it might be worth the initial investment in a good dry sump setup or even a jun/nitto after market pump that way you can push your car hard without the thought in the back of your head that if you push too hard it will break.
  4. awsome build buddy. did you wire the 25 in yourself or pay some one if so how much.
  5. nice car mate so jelous. im building a 30 atm im interested in you turbo setup. you said they were nismo turbos so are they N1 GTR turbos or standard gtr turbos and what boost you running and i dont suppose you have yet because your engine is still being run in but what rpm do the turbos start fade off.
  6. Hey guys Im in the middle of building my drifter and i cannot decide what turbo to use. I havent drifted alot so im not after anything huge basically something that is foregiving so if i stuff up and it drops revs and gets traction i can just plant it and be able to get the back out again so i need a turbo that will boost early really early and hold 12-14max through out the rev range. I have checked out what most of you guys are running and checked your dyno resaults so i have a rough idea of what to run but im just not posotive. The major thing is i dont have a huge amount of cash so over $1000 is out of the question. I havent ruled out twins either. the motor they are going on is an rb30e with a s2 rb25det head the motor has had a rebuild but still runs factory pistons and rods std cams etc Im chasing 400hp atw so what do you guys think i should run heres a few idea iv been throwing around. gt3076 gt30 2x rb20 turbo 2x gtr turbos 2x n1 gtr turbos to4e what do you think and are any of these to small to acheive what im after and im even thinking the gt3076 will boost a bit too late for what im after but not sure help would be awsome. cheers
  7. yeah thats right the black pearl aka r31 ran one he said it was stock but he must of had something in there to help. i hear of people getting a couple year out of one on the street and giving them some abuse but there not constantly on the limiter thats where i think the rb30 is going to fall to bits but i really want to run one for the huge amount of torque.
  8. hey guys my problem is that i have 2 Rb25det motors but both are in need of a rebuild (both blown ring 6 piston). The 25 block is still in good nick and can be used again i dont just want to replace rings and keep going because i want the car to be reliable and as there is 150 000kms on each engine i figure rather take the time now and rebuild one and drop it in fresh but there lies my problem either way i will be doing an engine rebuild so i ask im asking weather to rebuild a 25 which we all know to be reliable with the oil issues sorted or to spend the little extra time and money and have the monser torque. there is no issue in me building either one its just for the power i want and the rpm and abuse the engine will get will the 30 hold or should i go the tried and proven 25. has any one drifted a 25/0 combo how do you go with piston temps with no oil squiters. basically can some one confirm that a rb30det will be fine with the rpm and temp issues associated with drift or should i just got 25. im looking for about 450rwhp and good response and plenty of torque. if any one can help that would be awsome cheers
  9. it was yellowed for the front mount exhaust and some other small bits. the car is not that hard for me to return to stock because i have a spare wreck so that no problem i was wondering if the pits have an issue with re licenseing imports and what happen if it was bought in under the personal imports rule it wont have a complience plate hw will the pits deal with that. (the car was licensed i cant see a complience plate any where) where are complience plates on r32's on silvia theres a big green plate on the fire wall.
  10. Hay guys Im looking at buying an un rego'd skyline that needs a bit of tlc and putting it over the pits. the owner said the car was rego'd in WA and got a yellow sticker for a illeagal mod and so the owner handed in the plates and used the car for the track. now its not that far from stock so returning to reasonable condition isnt a bother its weather the pits will let an un rego'd import to be licensed again and how to know if the owner is telling the truth (I will ask for rego papers) but the main thing is the pits and if there will be any hassles any of you had trouble. cheers
  11. some one must know something about these boxes
  12. Hey guys I just purchased a r32 with a rb20de in her, the plans for now are to drop the 25det in and keep the rb20de box. I have heard from a few people that the 20de box is the same as the 20det box just shorter first gear but the same power capabilities. is this true or will it die in no time i cant go 25det box straight away as money wont allow it. any body know? cheers
