Can't Find The Thread On How To Check Timing On R32
Tony Brown replied to BOOZTJUNKEY's topic in General Maintenance
Try here: http://www.gtrusablog.com/ under RB26DETT information, it says adjusting the CAS is adjusting the ignition timing, -

R34 Stock Parts
Tony Brown replied to cartwright06's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Airbox still available? -
Dead right, since Skaifey is trying to keep the cost down to $250,000 per car!!! That probably wouldn't buy the engine in a DTM car! "V8 supercab" Love it!!

Some people will hate me for this.......but. here goes anyway....that would make a great Gen111 V8 manual conversion (motor is tired anyways) , seriously at around 1290kg with a very light all aluminium 5.7 or 6.0 litre V8 and 6 speed box? I would nearly bet that a Gen111 would not weigh any more than a RB20DE engine. Now I am not a big fan of pushrod V8s but with the torque of nearly 6 litres, that would make a real fun package. If you can just think about a light weight, great handling car with great brakes (GTR), and tons of torque, wow! And its not like a "collectable" (Sorry HR32GTS) Skyline would be sacrificed. Now time to duck the inevitable flack that this suggestion will draw. Sure is cheap enough too! Good luck with the sale! Now back to my Bourbon and Coke to wait for the onslaught.

Intercooler/airbag Rego Inspection Query
Tony Brown replied to Majestic's topic in Australian Capital Territory
Should be no problem with that, unless the airbag is behind the bumper, LOL Seriously though it can only interfere if the airbag sensors are moved ot removed. Since a GTR has a front mount intercooler standard, there should be no issue with that, could be an issue on a GTS-t though since they dont have a "front mount" as standard. Take it to Andy's Autogas on Barrier St Fyshwick and ask him before getting the inspection done, I'm fairly sure it wont be a problem. -
Hahaha you got me there!

Hi Doug, I now know that its your brother Steve's car since he PMd me to apologise for your post, I explained that there was no apology needed as I was not offended, and that I could have worded my post better as well. I think you should perhaps speak to him before shooting your mouth off, since unlike you, your brother Steve seems like a really good bloke. By the way, you still cant spell even when supposedly sober, go figure. As for chilling out, perhaps you should take your own advice. What I was trying to explain to you, and I will type it real slow so you understand........is that the post appears to not want to say what the kms are, and that this is a very important detail when buying a car, it seems as though there is a hidden reason, even if that isn't the case. I am not accusing you of anything other than atrocious grammar and English. Ok? Now go talk to your brother Steve, since he can actually string a sentence together and make sense while doing it. Steve, I apologise to you for insulting your brother Doug.

Update: now 107,000 kms -
Thanks Scarface_au, yes there are some talks, and only talks at this stage. Had I had a few less Bourbons before posting last night, I would have written the following: In a nutshell, under the old rules, no chance, under the Car of The Future rules, could absolutely happen, but only if BMW were prepared to, Sorry for the rant, buit my first post was incorrect and after a little research I found the the COTF rules. I still think that BMW have more to lose than it would be worth.
-
Is it possible to translate that to English? Elurt? Ruffly? Carnt? Remeber? WTF? It is very simple, people who are not prepared to show the kilometres in their ad, "appear" to have something to hide. That is what people read from your reluctance to list the kms. Not saying that you do, simply that common sense tells us that . Isn't it against the rules to sell someone else's car here? BTW my name is Tony, not toni.

Steering / Cournering Issue *serious*
Tony Brown replied to Willis's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Willis, it sounds to me as though you have front hub/wheel bearing issues. When you were able to check the free play, was it only horizontal, only vertical or in all directions? Horizontal only play would indicate steering/tie rods, vertical play only could indicate ball joints/bushes and if theplay was in all directions, I would think could only be caused by hubs/wheel bearings or more unlikely all of the above. Hope this helps, Tony P.S. if it is hubs/wheel bearings I would'nt be driving that car more than you absolutely have to.(5km maybe?) To have a hub fail (if thats what it is) while moving would be very dangerous to you, anyone near you and to your car. P.S.S. Can't believe your mechanic couldn't find this! Might be time for a new mechanic. -
After a bit of research it seems that under the "Car of the Future" project headed by Mark Skaife, there can be V8 engines of any make as long as they are subjected to an "Engine Equalisation Program for any variant from respective manufacturers that could co-exist with the current V8 Ford and Holden powerplants." In other words, if a particular car/engine is too fast, then make it slower, (remember the R32 weight handicap) what a great "COMPETITION" to be a part of, more like a farce if you ask me. And then who can build the faster race car? No one, thats who. How does any of that benefit the end user, the new car buyer? That is what Motor Racing was originally supposed to create, better cars for the average person and more sales for the better manufacturer, not this NASCAR style of so called competition. Shortly after the unveiling of the Car of the Future, "Holden chief Simon McNamara warned potential new manufacturers to stay out of the championship just hours after the plans were released, claiming that they would "gain nothing" from entering the series" Why are Holden so negative about other manufacturers entering the sport? $$$$$ and the fact that they have never really had any competition other than Ford, and that has been feeble until recent years. The stupid thing about McNamara's statement is that if BMW etc entered this competition under the existing proposed rules, wouldnt he be happy to see Holden's potentially equalling/beating BMW's on the track? Given the price differential between the two on the showroom floor, it would make the Holden vs BMW price difference look quite stupid.
-
It would be great to see another winning driver call the pack of bogans a "Pack of arseholes" coz lets face it, if BMW entered, neither Ford or Holden would see which way it went, those guys know how to biuld some serious V8's, not the old pushrod 2 valve shit that I believe the V8 Supercars are limited to. (I think that is still the case?) Consequently if BMW were asked to develop a pushrod V8, I really think they would tell AVESCO to fark off, "vee are not going backwards by over 40 years just to race in your two bit series you stupid skips" I would love to see it happen, but I wouldn't like to be hanging by my old fella waiting for it.

The only swap I am prepared to take is $8500 in Australian Dollars. A Corolla, Laser, Lancer, Mirage etc would be a suitable trade. -
Seems he doesnt want to say what the kms are for whatever reason? Has now been asked the same question twice and posted after the first request. A fairly important and valid question if selling a car I would have thought.
