Caution when removing cam gear cover!!
DriftinThruLife replied to GTRgeoff's topic in General Maintenance
you can buy ones for the rb25 (as far as i remember). Try PSI parts in Melbourne. $130 off ebay. Not sure if they are cheaper if you buy them direct. -
I was just reading through that whole thing like a "Days of our lives" episode.... ...So what was the outcome? -Your dogs still ok? -Did you take him to court?

Just wondering how you guys actually got it OUT of the car once you took it off? as apparently it breaks if you bend it? has anyone tried getting it out of a 2-door?

Cost Estimation Please
DriftinThruLife replied to skylinelova07's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Well..upto him. Depends on how much he wants to spend. Nah i didn't say I could get a plastic kit for 1000, I WISH!! I've had fibreglass front bars crack twice on me already, after hitting high angle roads. You never really appreciate plastic until you get fibreglass -

Cost Estimation Please
DriftinThruLife replied to skylinelova07's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Hey I wasn't endorsing it, just letting him know what his options are, and since the thread is called "cost estimation" I'm assuming cheapest one is required. $1000 for a fibreglass kit? err, yeh gold plated it better be. And besides, not everyone can afford expensive kits, Just coz they've got an import. -
Black R35 GTR. Dandenong, at stud/princess intersection, Going towards Hallam direction. Indian? looking guy driving it. Looked stock but mint. Some people are lucky enough o afford forking out $150K+ on a car

Cost Estimation Please
DriftinThruLife replied to skylinelova07's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
R33 full kits are like $500 + $80 postage on ebay. But they are fibreglass. If you want plastic, you're looking at something like $2000 for the kit by itself. Fit/Paint....Depends on who you take it to really. If they charge extra for fitting...I'd fit it myself to save some cash. But yeh, painting will cost you $500 minimum. -
Hi People. My question is, does the diameter or width of the hose which goes from the boost controller (manual) to turbo make a difference? I have been changing some factory hoses with silicon hoses, and for this particular hose... when i took it out and looked at the inner size of the hose (the hole) it didn't exactly match up with the sizes of the silicon hoses I had. I tried putting a smaller size (this was very tight, and I took it off just incase it would split at where I had managed to connect it) and I tried a size that was slightly larger. When i pressed the accelerator, the boost guage seemed to react the same for the thinner or wider hose. From this I assumed it didn't really matter. When I started the engine though...it sounded a bit different. It didn't seem to be as loud. When I took it for a drive....(well it's kinda hard to describe) but the boost guage was behaving the same (if not going up higher) but the car seemed to lag slightly? SO BASICALLY, Does the inner diammeter/width of the hoses going in or out of the boost controller make a difference? I assume it would, as it's controlling the air pressure right? So a wider hose would have the same amount of air at less pressure? Bare in mind I have next to zero knowledge about turbos. Thanks in advance for any help.

So does everyone here you premium for turbos? Does anyone use regular unleaded? More specifically, anyone with R34 GTT? What do you recommend. -
The Clean Vs The Sporty Looking.
DriftinThruLife replied to Spunky Munky's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
You have to remember... Fast n Furious came out like 9 years ago man.....that boat has sailed (i watched it again the other day, and never realised how lame those stickers/graphics were. Especially the "toyo tyres" stickers throughout the whole body. So unless it's for the track and you have sponsors....ditch the stickers. Back when I had an R32, I thought I was the hottest little sh*t in town, with my checkered flag graphics and Nismo stickers n stuff....Looking back they looked ugly as hell....and stupid too (unless you have something like 1000hp under the hood to back it up with). Now I have ONE vinyl decal on my rear window, but it's got nothing to do with brands etc. As for the badges... They are thief-magnets (I dunno whether they steal them to replace their own, or just for souvenirs or what) On 3 seperate occasions on my last car, I had the badges stolen (little thieving b******s), and since they used a knife or screwdriver to tear them off, it left big ugly scratches all over the place. These were the GT badges on the sides, and the skyline "S" badge on the front. That being said....if you own a GTR, don't take off your GTR badges! Why pay double the price for a GTR, when untrained eyes won't even be able to tell without the badges? If you have a clean car, with a decent paint job + polish etc...looks beautiful. -
If you're referring to xxx bodykits in Melbourne... they start resprays at $1999, and they charge extra for colour change (doorjams etc). But apparently they're work sux (looks like spray-can jobs). Or so I've heard from alot of their former customers. If you want a respray...I'm guessing you want it to look good right? So if you're looking for something cheap, you might aswell get some VHT cans and do it yourself....coz it'll come out cr@p either way, but you'll save some money. For a basic colour change, you're looking at $3000-$3500 minimum from a decent place. Pearls will cost you a few hundred extra atleast...Candy will set you back heaps because most spray-painters think they are a headache (ie. if they stuff up...it's much harder to fix it since the paint is translucent). I don't know what the heck obsidian black is....but you need to spend atleast $3000-3500, don't mess up your 35.

Hey NZM, Thank you. That puts my mind at ease.

Ah yeh woops sorry. I see the braided lines now. I think I might have been looking at a different pic.... possibly this one: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Pu...80&start=80 But yeah, my question still stands... regarding the tube from radiator-to-coolant bottle and the tubes which "look-like" they are attached to his power steering fluid reservoir. The only reason i sound like a broken record asking the same stuff over and over again...is because i've been getting mixed answers from a few people (I'm a total amateur when it comes to stuff under the hood). So sorry for that. I did notice a weird thing though... I replaced one hose which was for air/vaccum (it was previously disconnected anyway, it had worn out and broken off from where it was attached) and my Boost guage needle started flickering? previously it had just been lying still at the bottom when the car was turned on. Not sure if this is normal.
-
Actually WTF...it looks like you've used silicon hose for the fuel lines? and power steering fluid hoses? Have you had problems? leaks? burst lines? eaten through>?
-
You're doing 750hp, and you lost by 2-3 carlengths? Man that's more than most lambos, and around the McLaren F1 mark. WTF steroids was this GTR on?

Oh and by the way...so for fuel lines etc, is the only alternative braided lines? I mean...what are the standard ones made from? -
Put Up You Engine Bay Pics
DriftinThruLife replied to NOXCUSE's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
So coolant and Oil is OK?? Damn I really should start a new thread with pics, that way people can point of which ones are replaceable. Thanks PM-R33 -
Hey you used silicon hose for the coolant/radiator? have you experienced any problems with it? How did you know which hoses to replace with silicon hose, and which to replace with braided lines??
-
NZM, i also want to do the same thing, but don't know what line is for what.... And why can't the silicon hose be used for coolant? does it eat through the hose? Interesting idea you have about the catch can etc...which I had some before-after pics to look at, I'm very unmechanical...but just want to make the bay look nicer...yes it is depressing to see an ugly engine bay.
