It does seem a bit conflicting and confusing now but I think we will start to appreciate the track days being split up later in the year once it starts to get a lot more busy i.e. When there is a big turn out, in theory the guys doing "your car our track" will find a lot of inexperienced slower drivers out on track with them and even if there is cars running quicker times than you, the driver might have never even been on a race track before or have any experience because the idea of "your car our track" is for those who have never previously held a CAMS licence before (according to the Barbagallo staff at the race office). So in theory for those of us doing "race tuning days", even when there is a big turn out and we are running in our own "road registered car" class and not with the race log-booked cars, we should still be driving on the track with people who do actually have some past track experience and should know all about track day courtesy and implement the safety rules well etc Now just to frustrate everyone some more, here are a few points that are still confusing me; Why have they also split up the benefits of the L4 and L2 memberships e.g. Why is it that free entry to V8 supercars is only included in the L2 membership and not the L4? There is a big price difference in the membership costs that does reflect this but if the memberships are allowing those with street registered cars to both do some form of track days (and yet still not allow us to officially race), why not give new members the same benefits? i.e. Why not just make the L2 and L4 memberships the same price and have them both include free V8 supercar entry? Why is it that WASCC staff tell you on the day that L4 and "your car our track" is for less experience drivers and first time members, yet there is no info on the website or application forms to support this??? Cleary there are still a few things that need clearing up. I will try to find time to confirm everything with WASCC management and will post up all the answers on here for everyone. However, please be patient with it all for now as I am about to fly out for work for 1 week so may not have an answer for a while. Alternatively, the more confused phone calls WASCC get, the more likely they are to make all their info more clear on the website so if anyone else wants to help me out here, feel free haha Anyway, I'll clear this all up as soon as I can so we can all get out on the track together again. Cheers Bren

Will be good to hear how Chris's black 34 goes at race wars then. Hi James - yes, you must be the other R32 I'm referring to. I saw a couple of your runs, very nice mate! Yes I'm kicking myself I didn't get a chance to meet you (I think when you came back to line up again each time, I was about to run down the strip so it was difficult to catch you. My VX is exactly as in my profile picture ;-) Silver with 19" VX GTS replica rims. Do you already run at Barbagallo raceway or are you interested in getting involved with us? (refer barbagallo track days event thread)

Hey fellas First off; the white R33 you guys are talking about is Laurence. He is a champ so make yourselves known to him next time and tell him I pointed you in his direction ;-) He usually runs between 3 cars with his brother - they also have a couple of Ford escorts that they bring out. He's been doing tuning days since way back when us Blake boys started a few years ago and drives very well. He just doesn't poor the money in for big hp ... yet haha I was a bloody happy man to be out on track on the Friday again. The blue monster was insane and I managed to get some good track time in during the morning sessions before a broken brake rotor stopped my day short. For those interested in watching a vid, you can hear me putting down a few hard laps via my youtube channel ... Type in "SCR34MER444" and select the video Barbagallo Tuning Day 21/02/2014 If you listen carefully, you can actually clearly hear my R34 around the entire track from pit lane ;-) There's still a few more changes I wanted to make with the oil system before I'll be comfortable with the reliability of the new RB25/30 so that will put me out of action again for a month or 2 but looking forward to being back out there again ASAP. For those interested, I have also finally resolved the confusing membership level topic with Barbagallo management so please quote the below for anyone else with questions and hopefully this clears things up a bit; Regardless of whether you are going to do "Your car our track" days or "race tuning days", you must have a CAMS Level 2 Speed licence You can basically choose which membership and track day type you want to do for the year (one or the other) The "your car our track" day (requires Level 4 WASCC membership) is for those who are either new to the track and/or are not running confident, consistent lap times like the race series drivers. The "race tuning day" (requires level 2 WASCC membership) is mainly for CAMS log-booked race cars AND for street registered cars with confident drivers who are not going to get in the way of any race series competitors who are testing/practising As a general rule of thumb, I would say if you have past track experience and know the track protocol well (i.e. what all the track safety lights mean, let quicker cars through and keep out of the way when necessary, entering and leaving pit lane correctly etc), then you should be doing "race tuning days" and not "your car our track" days. For example, if it's the first time you have been on the track and you are driving a stock standard Suzuki Swift then you should definitely get a L4 WASCC membership and only do "your car our track" However, don't let the above put you off getting a WASCC L2 membership and joining us on the race tuning days just because your car might not be making big hp with big brakes etc. Obviously there are going to be various cars doing various lap times no matter what track day you are doing. It's all just about having the confidence and awareness of quicker cars that are out there with you so that we aren't getting in the way of others too much or causing a safety hazard. Depending on the turn out for the "race tuning days", the 20 minute sessions are split in to 3 categories - "CAMS log-booked race cars", "open wheelers", and "Street registered cars" My old man and I have both signed up L2 membership and will be doing "race tuning days" this year, and I would encourage most of the guys who I have met on here to be doing the same to get the best track time 'bang for your buck'. For more info, visit www.wascc.com.au and check out the membership page or contact the race office during the weekly office hours on 9306 8022

Seems not much interest on this topic at present but I figure I'll just keep talking about my Holden until some real men start getting amongst it with their skylines haha So, last night; Noticed some awesome skylines and jap 6's putting down some wicked times despite nobody talking on here. A couple of mint 32 GT-R's punching out 11 and 12 second runs from what I saw. Met 1 lad called Daniel (I think) in one of these nice 32's (post up some goss on your car and your times if you read this). Highlight of the night had to be a gentleman by the name of Chris in a 900whp R34 GT-R with a 6 speed sequential dog box, running standard street tyres who did only one run where he had much trouble getting off the line, only made it about 3/4 the way down the strip to have mechanical failure (I think it blew a boost hose), he backed off and rolled over the line ... AND STILL PUT DOWN A 10.7 SECOND RUN!!!!!! f**king insane! My VX SS with the standard LS1 and a few minor mod's rather impressed me I must say. I managed to put down consecutive 12 sec runs, with my best time a 12.83@174km/hr. Made plenty of nice noise and smoke and didn't skip a beat all night which I thought was pretty awesome for an old holden ;-) Was a great night out over all with good people despite a bit of a wait in the middle of the night due to oil clean up on track. Anyway, I hope to see more skyline enthusiasts getting amongst it in the near future. I'm off to bed to rest up for test and tune day tomorrow at barbagallo with my beautiful blue monster; namely one fully built RB25/30 powered, loud, proud 525rwhp R34 GT-T Anyone keen and not stuck at work for the whole day; check out the barbagallo track days thread on this forum and hope to see you there! Cheers Bren

Hey Johnny how did you go with the barbagallo membership and cams licence situation? Can you confirm what the go is between the 2 types of track day? Also keen to hear how you and you're automobile are going on the track too ;-) Anyone else coming out tomorrow? I'm all geared up and ready to go - will be there from start to finish (9 - 4ish) if all goes well.

Right gang; Short notice but I'll be heading down the strip this Wednesday night 19th Feb in "MY DAILY" Is anyone interested in coming down either just to catch up or to call me a traitor and stick it to my VX SS commy? haha Would love to hear some nice jap 6's if anyone is keen. You all know the drill by now. If you don't, read the previous comments in this thread. Look forward to catching up. Cheers Bren

Guys please correct me if I'm wrong; All WASCC members who hold a CAMS L2 Speed licence or higher can NOT participate in "your car our track" events. We can only run in the "race tuning days". I spoke with the Barbagallo office about it last week but then again, it wouldn't be the first time an office chick has been wrong. Apparently the "your car our track" events have been introduced this year for safety reasons and to encourage the less experienced driver to enjoy their road cars on the track. The idea is that anyone who does NOT hold a CAMS L2 licence or higher can still get a WASCC membership and get out on the track (for additional fees) in a more relaxed environment without having to worry about blocking up the track for race cars and experienced, quicker drivers. So most importantly, I hope to see you fellas out there this Friday 21st Feb for the tuning day and a catch up. I am very happy to announce that I will be on track to put down some test laps in the blue monster and finally enjoy the 525rwhp it's now putting out ;-) It's a rare occurrence so even if you can't get out on the track, feel free to come say g'day and hear the R34 screaming it's box off for a while. Look forward to seeing you all out there. Cheers Bren

Not a huge turn out as far as whoop-ass wed competitors but as always, there was some awesome gear down there. It's getting ridiculous how common it is to see 9 and 10 second cars on Wednesday nights now. On the skyline front, there were 2 extremely mean beasts doing consistent 11 second passes. One - a 4 door R32 gts-t and one other - an R33 GT-R (which I think may have even been as ear piercingly loud as my 34 - big congratulations in the sound department haha) I must apologise for not getting to talk as much with the drivers as I'd hoped, and did not learn their names either. If the owners are reading this or if anyone was there and knows the owners, feel free to dob them in on here and tell us the full story. Very nice skylines and very nice driving fellas! Until next time

Nice work lads. Cheers for starting this thread Bryce - we'll all keep in touch on here this year and I'm sure the topic will go hot in no time again! Unfortunately I've had a few rather major mishaps of late (not just with the car but also personal circumstances) and my appearances with the R34 may be a bit limited for the start of the year. But as a promise to all the great people I've already met through this and to the people who come out and get amongst the track days with their cars regardless of how modified they are, I will make a point of showing support/encouragement to you all this year as I did last year by coming out to the track when ever I can, whether it's having a blast out on the track with you, working on my video skills all around the track for you, or just having a good old chin wag and a laugh in the pits. May 2014 be an even better year at Barbagallo Raceway. Hope all is well gang, keep in touch. Cheers, Brendan

Yeah I've been trying to get hold of you for the past week!!! I assume you are ok and the car is repairable? Yeah either run the boxer or just come down for a look and catch up ;-)

It's been a very long time gang, too long! I wish I could say I'm taking the refined R34 back down to the strip again but unfortunately that will have to wait a little longer yet. However, I am interested to see who would be interested in getting their cars out for a thrash and get together for a catch up this Wednesday night 8th Jan. Would be great to see some skylines stickin' it to a few V8's as we listen to those beautiful jap 6 howls + screams You know the drill - bring your beast, bring your full length clothing & rated helmets, bring your $55 for racing fees, spectators bring $18 ($33 if you want the front passenger seat in your mates car on the strip), racing starts at 6PM!!! Hope to see you there! Bren

Hey mateAre you after the speedo cluster or the centre console cluster? I have sold the speedo but still have the centre cluster. I can get you a pic and organize for you to grab the centre cluster when I'm back next week if you like? (I'm currently in New Zealand and don't have much Internet or phone access). I'll be back on Wednesday. Cheers -

R33 Gt-R And R34 Gt-T Parts For Sale
Bren444 replied to Bren444's topic in For Sale (Car parts and other accessories)
G'day Not sure if you're the bloke I was texting this morning but not sure what the type/model is... I've tried researching on the internet quickly but can't seem to find the exact kit we have. Yes, the oil pressure gauge is also a defi. Looking at similar types of gauge kits on the internet, it looks like the going rate for a full kit like this brand new would be around $600 (correct me if I'm wrong). As we don't have original packaging or manuals or know a lot about it, we have just put it up open to offers. It was sold with the GTR when the old man bought it but never installed. It seems like its a complete kit - it has the little computer unit with it and a bunch of wiring lumes. -

Cheers mate, good to know. If it comes to it, what would you be willing to let it go for? I would obviously then pay for freight if you could send it off for me.

Chasing an RB30 crank for my rebuild after my 25/30 lunched itself. Anyone know of anything in WA, please let me know. Willing to purchase full RB30 block/entire motor if need be. Cheers

I am one happy camper right now :-) The R34 is back from the workshop and the boys went ahead and did a few extra things for me that I was going to do. New R888's to be fitted tomorrow and a bit of tinkering and I'm organised and ready for track day number 2 ;-)
-
Good stuff Bryce, good times ahead mate! Will catch up on the 29th then ;-)
-
Good stuff Bryce. Hope it goes straight forward for you mate. Assuming you mean 5th July ;-) I'll be away at work for that one. Still contemplating whether or not I will compete at the speed event time attack on 13 July - at this stage I'm just getting used to the car and just seeing if it holds together. I've got a few minor issues to sort out after that track day just gone. I'm now booked in for a gearbox replacement so hopefully I'll be able to pull 5th gear down the straight at next track day :-) Also got new tyres and a rocker cover oil baffle kit on the way so everything should be 100% for the 29th, touch wood. Keep in touch lads

Good stuff. We got some good footage also. I'm hoping I'll hear back from Jared at some point because I think he will have some awesome GoPro vids. Looking at the vids, it seems a rough best lap time for a clear lap for Geoff was low 67, maybe high 66. Rough best lap times for me seem to be in the high 67 range. But consistent clear lap times were more like 67-68 for Geoff and 68-69 for me. Will be interesting to see if the times come down a bit when I put some fresh rubber on and Geoff services his brakes for the next track day haha Just FYI everyone; The next track day we are planning on attending is Saturday the 29th June

Once again, a bloody awesome day with good people and good cars. The 34 was an absolute handful with the new hp/torque on what was left of the old semi slicks to say the very least. Great to meet you today Bryce. Look forward to seeing you and your beast again. Pretty sure all of the skyline boys were putting down some fantastic driving today from what I saw and it made for some awesome fun mixing together regardless of hp and calibre of cars. Jared - your flaming inferno exhaust just gets more and more ridiculous every time we see you lol We have some wicked footage of our cars together and - just as a rough look at the lap times, I'd say you are definitely consistent with 1;10's when you get a clear run, which is bloody awesome considering it's your second ever track race style event at Barbs with not the best 245 tyres, and you are dicing up a fair few V8's and saloon race cars (which really puts it in to perspective) Cheers for a great day to the lads that could make it out and looking forward to catching up again soon. Regards from the Blake boys

good shit mate! Just had a few tweaks done to the tune on the 34 tonight so she's all ready for some serious track tearing :-) see you all tomorrow!
