  1. Hey Bryce. I've been in touch with the boys and it looks like everyone I've been talking to is going to make it - despite the threat of a few possible scattered light showers. Are you and your mate still looking good to be there this Friday? There's 5 confirmed hypo skylines going to be there so far - all big hp and nice set ups too, which will be awesome for the camera footage. Cheers Bren
  2. Fantastic Jarrod! I'm not too sure what the going rate is for times on the short track but I reckon it would be very respectable mate! Look forward to catching up on the 14th ;-)
  3. Wes that's a bumber mate! Wish I could be at the one before as well but I'll be working away. We should catch up this break if you're free mate. That's great to hear Bryce! Look forward to seeing you's out there. Keep an eye out for us Blake boys and the bay side blue R34, and come say hello ;-) I'm pumped already. I've decided I'm just going to run my current old R888's totally into the ground because it will be my first track time with the new blue monster so no point in trying to brake lap records so to speak - I just want to learn to control the power and get comfortable with the new set up (hopefully without heading off the track and wrecking the new paint/body kit) haha Talk soon lads Brendan
  4. Righto guys and girls! Now that I'm finally back in action with the blue monster, my first track day will be the 14th June. My old man is also planning on having the GT-R back out with his repaired front end and new oil cooler so it should be a very good show of RB noise and father - son banter if nothing else ;-) Keep in touch on here in the mean time gang and let me know if you can make it out. Usual deal: 9AM - 5PM, full length clothing, closed shoes, good helmet etc All details are on www.wascc.com.au Hoping to encourage some new comers this year, so let's keep communicating and encouraging each other on here and how ever else we can. Cheers, Bren
  5. Good night had by all. It was a great feeling for me just to be able to unleash the monster finally. I had some issues with the car coughing and hesitating at the start of the night - we later learned it was the overboost cut off, and the boost was spiking to over 20psi. So naturally, we bumped up the overboost cut and let it spike with the cold weather to continue running the rest of the night. It was already making 500rwhp@15psi so with 20+psi, no wonder traction was an issue for me! I believe, apart from Jarrod, everyone's cars went quicker than they expected with Wes breaking in to the 11s for the first time at the plex, I heard Richard managed an 11.2, my SS cracked in to the 12s for the first time, and Abdul put down an amazing 12.6 in his 33GTS-T. My 34 will be back up on the stands in no time for some more fine tuning with the suspension and brakes in order to hit Barbagallo again in June. Keep an eye on the WASCC tuning day thread for details. Thanks to all who could make it out. Look forward to seeing you's at Barbagallo Raceway!
  6. Good stuff fellas ^^ Look forward to seeing you all there tonight. Both of my cars are ready to go =)
  7. So far the weather report still shows good for Wednesday ;-) Fingers crossed!
  8. Thanks for the info guys - that's definitely summed up a few things for me. The build was complete a few months back and I am running the GT35X. I was just curious to know which is better out of the GT35X vs GT35R as I've seen a few fellas over here in WA running the R and making cool power figures. I have just gone to town on my 34 GT-T - brief overview engine mods are as follows; Built RB25/30 with mild port and polish and standard crank GT35X with 1.0 rear housing 6boost Greddy intake 272 cams 2000cc inj twin 044's with surge tank and walbro primer 500rwhp @ 16psi, 98oct E85 to come later down the track and obviously a lot more boost potential yet. The car has been built with mainly track days and time attacks in mind so that's the reason for not worrying about quick response with a smaller turbo rear housing and cams. I figured big cams, injectors and 1.0 rear housing would give plenty of potential for future power figures even though we are focused on usable power for the track at the moment. With this set up, I am currently on full boost just before 4500rpm. It is pleasing to feel it come on very strong from 3000rpm though so I think considering the set up, even though it's no RB26 with twins, I am very happy with response. Thanks to all for your input. Brendan
  9. The 34 is race ready and the SS is heading to the workshop for some more mods today ;-) I've even got the launch control set up in the 34 now and I've borrowed a set of drag radials that I'll throw on halfway through the night and see how the times go. Bloody pumped! Just hope the weather holds up and my swing at work goes quick this week.
  10. G'day It is becoming more of a regular occurrence hearing about the millions of different turbo set ups with different mod's on different cars, and so it does get confusing for the average Jo (such as myself) to understand the difference between certain turbo models. I am interested to find out some 'FACTUAL' info on the Garret "GT35X" and "GT35R" models. I have been on the Garret official website and can't seem to find much info on these two models i.e. size differences or which one flows better, which has higher hp rating etc??? In general, I do understand that there are a lot of obvious factors that affect the performance such as rear housing size, engine and capacity in question, engine mods, bearing type etc - but does anyone know as a rule of thumb which turbo is better and why? Please only comment if you have legit knowledge or factual info. I know forums aren't normally the best way to find out facts but I haven't had any luck with searching the websites and thought I'd put it out there before I start making phone calls. Cheers, Brendan
  11. Good stuff man, they are more than welcome. Obviously no lag either with a time like that. That is crazy wicked haha
  12. Good stuff fellas ^^^ Look forward to having us all together again with the beasts. Not sure what time you guys can all get away from work and get down there but I was hoping to meet down there early (before the start) and grab pit bays together like last time. Jarrod that is an incredible time mate!!! Well done. To put that in perspective for a manual GT-T, the quickest time I ever did with mine running approx 340rwhp on R888 tyres was a 13.4 (and I was happy with my launches and getting the power down) ... You must be stoked mate! I don't think I'll be much quicker than that on street tyres even with all the hp and money spent. I'm pumped for this fellas! ;-)
  13. Richy Rich!! That's fantastic news mate, look forward to catching up, not to mention seeing your beast head closer to a 10sec pass ;-) haha Also, what's going on with your phone lately? Do you have a new number?? I've been trying to call and sent text messages with no reply? Hope all is well mate, Bren
  14. Hi all The following is a text copy that I am spreading to friends, and have placed on another car club forum; It has been way too long since I have been on the forums and had a good input to events but it is all reborn from now ... "MY R34" project is 'complete' (however I guess a hobby such as this is never complete) and I'd love for people to get involved with the first official track event for the new fully built race prep'd/street driven R34GT-T :-) This being said, it's certainly not all about me and my car; I am a man of my word and this night is all about encouraging more people to get involved with general track events even if their cars are a 'daily drive' or if money is tight, and regardless of how quick or slow your car is. I have a huge passion for promoting Barbagallo Raceway and the Kwinana Motorplex, and I would really like to continue the path of bringing new friends together for such an awesome hobby. I am more than happy to meet new people and provide info on my personal experience with clubs and car events in general. All I ask is that people aren't afraid to have a go, stop being a spectator - get in touch with me, check out all the info and support the car clubs you're in (especially if you're concerned about costs of events). We are all good hearted, welcoming people who will get together and encourage others to get amongst the action in a safe (off-street) environment. Those who can't get a car into some action, come on down for a good night out and check out the action anyway. Get your cameras and pom pom's together - the more the merrier ;-) Enough warm hearted dribble from me, full event details are as follows; http://www.motorplex.com.au/news.php...54&g=9&pg=drag There have been some changes to the drag requirements over time so pay particular attention to; -helmet and clothing requirements -vehicle safety modification requirements (as per how fast the car is) -You can now have ONE passenger along for the 1/4 mile experience provided requirements are met NOTE: EVERY CAR MUST HAVE A COOLANT OVERFLOW BOTTLE OR SOME FORM OF CATCH CAN TO PREVENT FLUIDS SPILT ON TRACK IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE OVER HEATING. For example, for my R34 and my VX SS commodore, I have installed an old powerade bottle with some hose for track events. (Feel free to get in touch with me for further details if need be) I'm bound to have left things out but if you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with me and I'll try to get on the forums regularly leading up to the event. All that aside, I'm thoroughly looking forward to the night (this is a big one off for me as I have had to take time off work just to participate), and hope to see you there!! Would be great to see a big posse of skylines rock up to draw the attention away from the usual V8's ;-) Cheers, Brendan
  15. Track day monday bitches ;-) Who's coming out??
  16. This just in - I have time off work confirmed to hit the drags on 3 October. Now who would like to bring their skylines down and flog me in my No.2 car? That's right, the ss common whore is going down the quater haha
  17. Try Allstar garage also mate. I think Hyperdrive are going to be a bit tied up for the next month due to my 34 finally getting the RB25/30 build completed :-) haha
  18. Nice driving out there today fellas. Another great day. Next track day that dad and I are here for is Monday the 24th so hopefully see a few of us out there again then. Cheers, Brendan
  19. As soon as my 34 build is done and the car is ready I'm there again - All going to plan, I'll be organising another skyline drag night Wednesday 7 November with some good friends and who ever else wants to join. It was an awesome night the last time we did it - we all just met down there same time and grabbed pit bays together to leave our stuff, lined up, sent some spectator mates off with the cameras, did some runs and talked some shit (most of us are pretty good at that). Good video compilation from the night thanks to Richard;
  20. Hey guys I believe tomorrow night is the season grand opening of the whoop-ass wed drags. I'm heading down for a look and thought I'd see if anyone else is heading out to run down the quater with some real cars and show these "big dominating V8's" how it's done haha Ofcourse this is all assuming it won't get canned due to the weather. The motorplex usually releases the go or no-go descision at about 3pm on the day and you can find out by ringing the office. Let me know if anyone interested. If anyone is new or you just want more info, refer to the below; 9419 6622 http://www.motorplex...index.php?id=45 http://www.motorplex.com.au/news.php?newsid=1089&g=9&pg=drag Cheers Brendan
  21. Hey gang, who's heading up to the track Saturday for a thrash? I'm planning on heading up for a look and show some support to Wes and the boys. Brendan
  22. Yeah me and the old boy will cruise over and show some support, wave some flags or something haha Will be good to see some action even though I can't be apart of it while my car is in the workshop
  23. What time does this finish???
  24. Hi Chris Yeah I honestly can't remember about the membership itself - pretty sure it is just for each year (my card says 2012 membership) i.e. Jan - Dec. As for the cams license though, the one day is only for that one day. The 1 year license is a few hundred dollars but it's validity starts from when you purchase it for a year. So you are right - for full benefit it helps to get a fresh membership at start of the year. Another big point is that silver membership entitles you free entry to V8 supercars and all other events held at the venue over the year, along with other little perks here and there. As for getting membership at this time of year, I guess it depends on how much you can get out to the track for the rest of the year as to be worth the money. Hope that helps some. Brendan
  25. What you just described is what it's all about Chris! Come on out and get amongst it - we are all pretty friendly so will keep an eye out. Assuming you have a cams L2S Licence and WASCC membership, you are good to go - otherwise for an extra fee, you can purchase a temporary 1 day licence to drive on the day. Wes drives a deep blue R32 GT-R and I'll most probably be hanging around him so feel free to come say hello. Brendan
