oooooh I might be heading to Vegas in May to catch up with some friends from London .... who is the band?

OK, I have had more than enough. I don't care how new you are to SAU, or whether you posted in the wrong section by mistake, or whether you just have no respect for the rules, or whether you are mentally challenged. People who post 'for sale' items in the general SA section will get a 1 week holiday from SAU, starting immediately. Also, if it is your first post and you haven't bothered to read the rules, or joined the forums just to flog your wares, and post for sale items in the SA section, you get 2 weeks holiday. That is all.

I thought we did it just before Xmas? Could be wrong though. I left early, so aren't aware what date Guy made the next appt for.

I was at the Northgate shops tonight around 5:30pm .... still can't believe I haven't bumped into you anywhere Preiss!

Dang that sucks Shane .... bastards. I bet they get a trailing commission off your fixed loan too - the banks reward people who set up deals like that .... they will get a trailing commission for the life of your loan. But yeah, at least it is good to have a fixed amount to pay, so you know where you stand at any given point. Best of luck with the new bubs .... mine has just turned 15 months and is a real joy - he is getting very interesting now learning new things every single day and starting to talk and all the fun stuff. Enjoy.
-
yeah mate, I sure did. What were you in?

^^^^ or far more likely he is renting the house and will 'sell' it to some sucker who gives him $10k and he will disappear into the sunset. If it seems to good to be true, then it (almost) always is. Who on earth advised you to take a fixed rate 9 months ago? Everyone knew the rates were going to fall a minimum of 2% in the coming months, and have obviously now fallen significantly more than that. Generally if you want to break out of a fixed rate mortgage, the bank charge you the difference between the fixed rate you were supposed to pay, and the current variable rate, compounded over the fixed period.

BABOW! - It has only gone through the Lower House. It was smashed in the Upper House, so now Full'o'Krudd has demanded a senate enquiry and they will vote again next week. DBPY Bachelor of Business (Property)

hahaha you're welcome But no-one is going to get the $950. No way this waste of money is getting through .... the Libs let it go once, but twice is just bad joojoo *Sigh* I have nearly finished typing my valuations from today. I have my 1st job at 8:15am in the morning and my last one at 5:30pm tomorrow .... so home around 6:30pm, see the wife and child from some dinner, then around 6 hours of report typing tomorrow night I had better go to bed. Soon.

You have got to be $hitting me. You think the government blowing $10.4 billion dollars to increase retail sales by whopping 3.8% for one month (and a peak shopping month at that), and putting us in more debt than we can pay off in a year is sound economic policy? ROF to the motha fu[king L. All they have done is avoided the 3rd consecutive month of negative growth so we can avoid the technical term 'recession'. Hey I never questioned your work ethic. I was just defending the fact that I work a shit-ton of hours to justify my income, and am not happy every year when I write a $45k+ tax cheque for the government and see very little in return. What I actually did say is that you reap what you sow - ie, if you are not happy with your current income, maybe you need to go out and 'sow' some more. In fact I also noticed you didn't answer the question put to you about your own investment in your future, in reference to me foregoing 4 years of income to do year 13 and a 3 year degree to become a 'white collar richie who deserves to pay craploads of tax despite working 80 hours a week and getting to bring home around 65% of what I earn, unlike you working x hours a week and bringing home 90% of what you actually earn, then getting $1k kickbacks from a government who is trying desperately to buy your next vote'. I had a dickhead mate of mine who I went to school with (and am actually still good friends with) post on his Facebook the other day about how much he loves Krudd because he is giving him free money. He hasn't stopped for one second to think of where that money comes from and how much trouble the country is going to have paying it back one day Pfffffffft Wow I love some heated online debate .... keep it coming Karl

^^^ did it have a triangular yellow 'tow here' sticker on the rear bar - as I saw a bright metallic blue R32GTR drive past my place in Northgate this morning - looked tuff!

I can't tell if this is a wanted to buy thread or not. If it is, there is a thread specifically for wtb. And yes, do a search - the topic of wheel size/offsets, and tyre brands has been covered 1,000,000 before

Yeah backing up your allies = very bad form - NOT. One day we might actually need America to help us out, and imagine if we had told them to go jump when they needed help. The reason we are headed toward a recession is mainly due to the absolute greed of American and European based funders, lenders and credit analysts who screwed the whole system by re-badging bad debt and on-selling it to idiots who should have known better. There are solid economic moves that can be made here to lessen their effect and isolate our job and export markets from some of the turmoil. I am yet to see KRudd do one single thing of this nature. Giving drug and pokie addicts $$$ to blow on their weapon of choice does not qualify as any sort of savior of course. they are putting us dangerously in debt though - something previous Labor governments have also had great skill doing. How are we going to pay for all this debt? As SLED very rightly pointed out, without small business there would be no jobs. Labor is doing its absolute best to screw up small business, and when that cycle is complete we will see a very different Australian economy - and it will be next year. 9% unemployment was predicated within months of Labor being elected to power - and no it wasn't world events that caused this - it is their utter mismanagement of labour relations and business in general. The economy flourished under Howard, and will crumble under these incompetent idiots. Hmmm 10 years of unbridled growth and prosperity we have just come off of .... yeah Liberals really suck. Matt, you are probably not old enough Matty to really remember the 1990's under Hawke/Keating, but I studied the 1990's economy at length at Uni, and let me guarantee they ran Australia into the ground. Go do some reading about how Labor handles economics and it paints a very bleak picture - there are lots of resources on he topic on the interweb. Babow sorry mate. Depending on your situation people on unemployment benefits (not sure what your scenario is) do NOT qualify for the $$$. And of course it is NOT paid to/for kids. But aside from that, thank God the Liberals are blocking this in the upper and lower house. It will never get through. They have no interest in trying to bankrupt this country - unlike Labor who have already spent all the money we had put aside, and are putting us further and further into debt.
-
It is not just about global issues - we are quite isolated from the rest of the world here in Aus in many respects. But either way, history shows that the Liberals have skills in handling the economy and driving it out of troubled waters, and that Labor simply sinks and take everyone with them. The fact that Labor has blown the whole generous surplus the Liberals left and are driving us madly into deficit already is a very bad sign. Again, history repeating itself.

sorry Kye I didn't notice anyone waving at me .... I was only at the meet-point - I take it you saw me there?

Some very interesting points made here (I think/hope people can see this without having a Facebook account): http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2243511035

Yeah, I have it sooooo easy having foregone 3 years of salary and accumulated a $30k debt to put myself through Uni (after doing year 13 to boost my Uni entry scores - sacrificing another years income). For the privilege of now working 80+ hours a week (for a very nice income) - but, only to pay around 35% of it straight back to the Government to blow how they please. So my first 52 hours of work a week I actually get income for - the other 28 hours I work to pay tax. How many hours total do you work in a week Karl? And how many years of income did you forgo to get an education to be where you are now? I am still working as we speak, and have around 4 hours more of reports still to type tonight. Still want to trade places with me? What time did you get home from work and what have you been doing since then? I have seen my wife and child or a total of 30 minutes tonight while I scoffed down some dinner. This is how a normal day for me pans out .... yeah, I am soooo lucky and rich .... But yes, I do have a nice house, great toys and go on great holidays. But it comes at a huge lifestyle cost. So, you should go out and not earn any income for years and years to get a degree, and finally you may one day be in a position to earn plenty of money and become just as jaded as me

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7...a-download.aspx Not sure on the answer to all of your questions .... Google is your friend, I guess.

It is very well sorted Pete. I haven't used it as my daily PC, but have mucked around a fair bit and haven't managed to break it. It basically is what Vista should have been and is quite similar. It is currently stable as. The biggest revelation is the speed - I have it installed on a spare crappy AMD Sempron 3000 with 1Gb of ram and it runs very sweet indeed. Would no doubt blitz on my quad core Phenom, but I already have a dual boot setup and would not be game to break it with a triple boot scenario. If you want a copy let me know, but you will need to register with MS for a key (easy to do).

yep, and love it. If you can be bothered coming out to the 'burbs I can put it on a DVD for you Mitch for you to come and pick up. I live in Northgate

Sorry for the coming long post, but I received this excellent 'on topic' email from my Mum just yesterday .... unfortunately I think a lot of guys on here will experience this in the coming 2 years of recession under the Krudd government. The moral of the story is that rather than give below average income earners $1k to blow on pokies, booze, turbos etc (which is exactly what happened last handout and only benefited the hoteliers of Adelaide, not the economy in whole whatsoever), the govt should ease tax on businesses, so that 1. they manage to stay in business through the tough times, and subsequently 2. many people actually keep their jobs as a result of the businesses not going under and massively effecting the economy. The story goes like this : "A Boss Who Tells It Like It Is" Date: Sat, 03 Jan 2009 To All My Valued Employees, There have been some rumblings around the office about the future of this company, and more specifically, your job. As you know, the economy has changed for the worse and presents many challenges. However, the good news is this: The economy doesn't pose a threat to your job. What does threaten your job; however, is the changing political landscape in this country. However, let me tell you some little tidbits of fact which might help you decide what is in your best interests. First, while it is easy to spew rhetoric that casts employers against employees, you have to understand that for every business owner there is a back story. This back story is often neglected and overshadowed by what you see and hear. Sure, you see me park my Subaru Outback outside. You've seen my big home at last year's Christmas party. I'm sure all these flashy icons of luxury conjure up some idealised thoughts about my life. However, what you don't see is the back story. I started this company 28 years ago. At that time, I lived in a 2 bedroom flat for 3 years. My entire living area was converted into an office so I could put forth 100% effort into building a company, which by the way, would eventually employ you. My diet consisted of baked beans, stew and soup because every dollar I spent went back into this company. I drove a rusty Toyota Corolla with a wonky transmission. I didn't have time to go out with women. Often times, I stayed home on weekends, while my friends went out drinking and partying. In fact, I was married to my business -- hard work, discipline, and sacrifice. Meanwhile, my friends got jobs. They worked 40 hours a week and made a modest $50,000 a year and spent every dime they earned. They drove flashy cars and lived in expensive homes and wore fancy designer clothes. Instead of hitting the David Jones for the latest hot fashion item, I was trolling through the discount store extracting any clothing item that didn't look like it was birthed in the 70's. My friends refinanced their mortgages and lived a life of luxury. I, however, did not. I put my time, my money, and my life into a business with a vision that eventually, some day, I too, will be able to afford these luxuries my friends supposedly had. So, while you physically arrive at the office at 9am, mentally check in at about noon, and then leave at 5pm, I don't. There is no "off" button for me. When you leave the office, you are done and you have a weekend all to yourself. I unfortunately do not have the freedom. I eat, and breathe this company every minute of the day. There is no rest. There is no weekend. There is no happy hour. Every day this business is attached to my hip like a 1 year old special-needs child. You, of course, only see the fruits of that garden -- the nice house, the Subaru, the vacations... you never realise the back story and the sacrifices I've made. Now, the economy is falling apart and I, the guy that made all the right decisions and saved his money, have to bail-out all the people who didn't. The people that overspent their pay suddenly feel entitled to the same luxuries that I earned and sacrificed a decade of my life for. Yes, business ownership has is benefits but the price I've paid is steep and not without wounds. Unfortunately, the cost of running this business, and employing you, is starting to eclipse the threshold of marginal benefit and let me tell you why: I am being taxed to death and the government thinks I don't pay enough. I have state taxes. Federal taxes. Property taxes. Sales and use taxes. Payroll taxes. Workers compensation. Unemployment taxes. Taxes on taxes. I have to hire a accountant to manage all these taxes and then guess what? I have to pay taxes for employing him. Government mandates and regulations and all the accounting that goes with it, now occupy most of my time. On Oct 15th, I wrote a cheque to the Australian tax Office for $288,000 for quarterly taxes. You know what my "stimulus" cheque was? Zero. Zip. Zilch. The question I have is this: Who is stimulating the economy? Me, the guy who has provided 14 people good paying jobs and serves over 2,200,000 people per year with a flourishing business? Or, the single mother sitting at home pregnant with her fourth child waiting for her next welfare cheque? Obviously, government feels the latter is the economic stimulus of this country. The fact is, if I deducted (Read: Stole) 50% of your pay you'd quit and you wouldn't work here. I mean, why should you? That's nuts. Who wants to get rewarded only 50% of their hard work? Well, I agree which is why your job is in jeopardy. Here is what many of you don't understand ... to stimulate the economy you need to stimulate what runs the economy. Had the government suddenly mandated to me that I didn't need to pay taxes, guess what? Instead of depositing that $288,000 into the Canberra black-hole, I would have spent it, hired more employees, and generated substantial economic growth. My employees would have enjoyed the wealth of that tax cut in the form of promotions and better salaries. But you can forget it now. When you have a comatose man on the verge of death, you don't defibrillate and shock his thumb thinking that will bring him back to life, do you? Or, do you defibrillate his heart? Business is at the heart of Australia and always has been. To restart it, you must stimulate it, not kill it. But the power brokers in Canberra believe the poor of Australia are the essential drivers of the Australian economic engine. Nothing could be further from the truth and this is the type of change you can keep. So where am I going with all this? It's quite simple. If any new taxes are levied on me, or my company, my reaction will be swift and simple. I fire you. I fire your co-workers. You can then plead with the government to pay for your mortgage, your 4WD and your child's future. Frankly, it isn't my problem any more. Then, I will close this company down, move to another country, and retire. You see, I'm done. I'm done with a country that penalises the productive and gives to the unproductive. My motivation to work and to provide jobs will be destroyed, and with it, will be my citizenship. So, if you lose your job, it won't be at the hands of the economy; it will be at the hands of a politicians that swept through this country changed its financial landscape forever. If that happens, you can find me sitting on a beach, retired, and with no employees to worry about .... Signed, Your boss

ffs you have an expensive car - take it to a a decent tuner.

ok I let this thread ride for a while. If threads are not specifically about an SAU meet-up, or car related, then they will be locked. Like this one is now.

No you won't be able to drink the day after, as you will be in considerable pain. Please take this type of thread to a social networking site (or the wasteland) - this is a car forum. I know heaps of useless threads like this have surived in the past, but this is a new era and if it's not car related, then it has to go. Thread locked, to be deleted.
