Don't touch a GT8 with a 20 foot pole. Do a search on here - you will find plenty of topics on it. Basically if they break, there is no-one able to fix most faults. I know of at least 2 cars that weere parted out and sold as bits, as they couldn't figure out how to fix the CVT (or it was going to cost more to fix than the car is worth). Just go a 350GT/370GT. The VQ35 is rated as one of the best engines ever made. With a few mods they can make 180rwkw and over 600Nm of torque, and are plenty fun. But they are 100% reliable (unlike a GTR). Mine has done 150,000km, I service it myself, it has never even seen a mechanic and has purred like a kitten all its life. Sure it's no GTR, but they are comfortable, look great (I still have people come up to me and ask 'is it brand new', or 'gee that must have cost $100k') and bang for buck are hard to beat, unless you are after a car that makes 300rwkw, in which case a GTR is pretty much your only decent choice. Plus, they are insane value for money. Good V35s can be found for $20kish, good V36s are now as cheap as $30kish. Unbelievable value for a car that goes, looks and sounds as good as these imho. If you can stretch your budget to a V36 then get one - they produce 45kw more (when stock) than the V35, have push button start/proximity unlock (like the R35GTR), most have 6 camera reversing/parking systems, the SP has titanium paddle shit (if you're into autos - and why wouldn't you be - they are awesome!) and various enhancements over the V35. The newer ones even have self-healing paint!

[Wtb]V35 Stock 19" Wheels
Nightcrawler replied to Noely's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Aaron does some well priced wheels, or he can order you anything off Yahoo Jp http://www.importmonster.com.au/ Every state seems to have a half decent Jp wheel importer. My local is http://www.japaneseimportspares.com.au/home/ and they will ship. -
[Wtb]V35 Stock 19" Wheels
Nightcrawler replied to Noely's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
They are rare as hen's teeth, and when they do come up for sale every now and them they fetch a high price. Seriously, you can buy some decent aftermarket 2nd hand Jp wheels for similar money. -
Buying A Fresh Import Car
Nightcrawler replied to greychocobo's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Normally going over the pits and getting registered is part of the compliance process - so the first question is has it been complied? If not don't go near it. I would be VERY wary fullstop of buying an unregistered fresh import, as if you take it regency they will absolutely tear you a new one on every aspect of the car. If it is freshly complied, then by law it needs to have had brand new tyres fitted. I wouldn't be touching the car with a 20 foot pole until/unless it is complied/registered prior to purchase. There must be a reason it has not been, and all the reasons are bad. -
Posting your location, or at least state would help .....

Aftermarket V35 Lights Need Help
Nightcrawler replied to SNEEZYC34's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
If you buy lights from the USA, they WILL be directed with cutoffs to the left (instead of the right), they WILL blind oncoming traffic, and will most likely be defected by the first cop driving the opposite direction that is blinded by your lights. The ONLY lights that fit our cars are made in Japan. Contact Jesse Streeter (www.jessestreeter.com) and ask him about getting you the same lights we got in the group buy. From memory the last person that bought them through him off here in a one-off through him paid $800. -
^^ I look forward to selling you a Urethane Nismo front bumper bar very soon when you break your lip and rip your stock bar off .... the low life sucks without Urethane - I bend and scrape mine all the time and it just pops back into shape :)
-
^^^ go to Used Tyre Mart at Wingfield - $120 gets you a brand new tyre that size or similar fitted and balanced.
-
The urethane Nismo bar is the only way to go .... you WILL regret your decision to go fibreglass the 2nd time to hit it on something and you are up for a new bar plus painting. FG just sucks. Oh, I happen to have a urethane Nismo bar for sale http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/433400-f-s-v35-coupe-urethane-nismo-style-front-bumper-bars/?p=7064468

Evolved Body Coatings http://www.evolvedcoatings.com.au/liquid-wrap/ Awesome stuff!
-
^^^ Love it!! I am still deciding what colour to ebc wrap my car in. Is yours ebc or plasti-dip?
-
That looks truly horrible imho. But just looks like white paint to me .... no colour code needed I would think.

I don't understand how you give a fraction of a crap about 1-2 seconds of chain noise when your car starts? Why on earth do you give half a shit? You talk about selling the car and buying a Falcon because of it? Talk about first world problems! If it really irks you, fit a remote start and you never hear the thing start anyways, as you will be in a different room or far enough away from the car. I couldn't tell you if mine does it or not - I am either not near the car when I start it, or I am sitting in it with the stereo on. Can't say I have ever noticed it and mine has just ticked over 140k. I run Nulon semi-syn 10W40.

I have these super cool, uber awesome Nismo front bars for sale http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/433400-f-s-v35-coupe-urethane-nismo-style-front-bumper-bars/ Cost you about $150 to get to Syd. -
Great to hear you finally sold the beast mate. Sad to see it go, but onward to new and better things!
-
Nice car there Mat! Is Kristian organising compliance for you interstate, or are you doing it here? If you need to borrow some stock rims to get it through let me know and you can borrow my stockies.
-
Great looking car there Adam! First year I have ever missed AJD, as it was my 3 year old's Birthday party the next day and I was home cleaning up the back yard

What Are These Wheels?
Nightcrawler replied to Wingnut0021's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
They don't look too bad imho. But get some 15mm spacers on the front and 30mm spacers on the rear STAT! -
Most reading I have done they say to replace the oem filter with a better brand/higher flowing one. I have the HKS filter, but I couldn't find it on a quick scan of Ebay. This one looks similar though: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/APEXI-PANEL-AIR-FILTER-SKYLINE-V35-M35-STAGEA-VQ25-VQ30-VQ35-/131130891920?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e88029e90

There is no point doing the hfcs if you haven't upgraded your intake, y-pipe, mid and rear portions of your exhaust - it can't breathe. My 03 V35 made 183rwkw and since your engine comes out with 20+ more kw you should be making more than this. And/or get a better tuner.

Front Wheel Lock On Turning
Nightcrawler replied to runner4life's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Are you positive that they changed the lower control arm bushes? You want the ones in the pic I posted earlier changed - the ones that connect the lower control arms to the car. How much did it cost you and how long did they take to do your work? -
I disagree that they are a fire risk - unless they are incorrectly wired in, turbo timers need to have the park brake fully engaged in order for them to activate - otherwise the car just turns off. So in the case of an accident, unless you put your park brake on before turning the car off then it won't activate at all.
