Yep I am in too. A better idea would be to have the GT logo in the square where your avatar is - as per the shield design badge on the front guards - that would look awesome! The GT logo is common to all turbo and non-turbo models, so would be perfect and look great.

Very nice pick-up there Kristian! Did you see any reasonably priced R34GTRs that were in reasonable condition? Or were all the cheapies thrashed to within an inch of their life?

thanks guys. Yeah Guy I will have to polish the intercooler - am probably going to paint the top of the intercooler and mounting brackets black, and the top of the oil cooler as well. Might find some R34 style black mesh and put it back there too. Pete - yeah the fit is not perfect, but I just quickly trial fitted the bar the this stage, so will massage it a bit more and make it fit better when I take it off to paint it. Hopefully I have a vented real carbon fibre bonnet and boot to come shortly that will complete the look (speaking to a source in China as we speak). Then I have to decide whether to respray the car Obsidian Black again, or go Midnight Purple (which was my original intent). Unfortunately Midnight Purple 3 (the harlequin colour that came on R34GTRs) costs $1k a litre and I would need just under 3 litres to paint the car, so it would double my repainting cost - so might go with Midnight Purple 1 of R33GTR fame.

Here is my brand spanking new GTR style front bar. It was white, so I sprayed it with some cheap matte black spray can paint for now and trial fitted it. Indicators are not fitted. Bonnet lip and eyelids are not yet painted or fitted either. But you get the idea.

Who are you with Steve? Yeah I guess if it states it on the insurance form then they have no come-back against you. I would suggest you are with the only insurer who will do it, as I know most won't touch such a car. Until very recently you had ordinary non-turbo brakes and discs trying to stop a high-powered turbo car .... not sure I would like to be insuring you when that was the case

I take it he didn't get the message from the year-long ban I gave him just over a year ago. In my humble opinion SAU is not some bizarre poor/uninteresting photo fetish forum, nor a place to air his continual grievances against former employers, and perpetual conspiracy theories about mods, cops and the government. At 147kw and 1,400kg it scrapes in at the minimum spec = 105kw/t. Surprisingly it is not far behind the Aus delivered 200SX which was 147kw 1,280kg = 115kw/t (and that was turbo).

You will have a LOT of trouble insuring a non-turbo car that has been turbo'd. And you have massive costs including injectors, ECU, wiring loom etc etc. Just not worth the effort. Sell it, and buy a Gtst.

I remember seeing Munro's current 3 Litre streeter R33GTR (Doug's old car) for sale with 10,000km on the odo at Prestige Walkerville (of all places) for $90k - not sure what year that was, but my guess would be around 1999.

err Kahli check the original post date : That is how it was back in the old days - things (and Skyline) reputations are a LOT different now, as is how we handle forum behavior. Back then we were out every Saturday night ripping it up, and almost no-one got defected, and the cops didn't even know what Skylines were so we weren't targets etc etc

Funny too that I still see Munro and Whatsisname on a very regular basis and they both still have their original cars from 2002 (Matt's awesome R33 TRUST-33, and John's '3litre Streeter' of HPI fame {Doug's old car for those in the know})

hahah yeah back in 2002 there were only about 20 active members on SAU and we ALL knew each other by name. In fact we used to head down to the Glenelg Mitre10 and hang out/hook up for a cruise most Saturday nights - and the cops used to come by and literally say hello, and NEVER defect our cars .... those were the good old days.
