  6. I was driving home from the wife's parents place down Victoria Road down Port Adelaide direction a few months ago. Now there has been MEGA roadworks going on along there for about 6 months in preparation for the new Expressway bridge over the Port River opening shortly. There was a stretch of single lane roadworks that was a 40km/h zone 24 hours a day that used to be 2 lanes, but had one blocked off. The stretch would have gone for 2km easily. So, I am driving home around 10pm on a Sunday night and just get into the single lane 40km/h zone. A white Rodeo (or similar) ute comes screaming up behind me not far into the 2km 40km/h stretch. Now I am sitting on about 44km/h. He comes extremely close up behind me and sits right up my ass. After about 200m of this I thought 'stuff it' - I slowed down to literally 3km/h We were rolling along now at 3km/h and he is on the high beams, honking his horn and going crazy. I took great joy for the next 1km+ doing this and watching his screwed up face going ABSOLUTELY INSANE, in my rear vision mirror. When we got to the end of the 40km/h cone I booted it up to 60km/h and got the hell out of there. Was absolute GOLD how mad he was getting and must have nearly driven him insane doing 3km/h for around a kilometre :
  7. ^^^^ how dumb is that guy to 1) leave his car in gear when he has a remote start system, and 2) make sure the installer installed the neutral sensor property. That should not be physically possible to happen. And how did the car start in gear with the handbrake fully on. Sounds sus to me. Just for fun those guys with manuals try to start your car with the handbrake on and in gear - I guarantee that you won't get very far. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
  8. haha nice Dave - I knew we could rely on you. WHO ELSE? Cmon guys - don't be weak!
  9. so cmon guys - come out and give it a go. We need more people. Everyone needs to have blood at some point in their lives - YOU MAY BE SAVING A LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please, we need more members to commit - who else is game? Oh, and Shaun - you did fine buddy - I was exactly the same the first time - it is a bit scary and after you can go a bit pale. It is all part of the fun. you will find if you force yourself to drink like 2 litres of water Saturday morning before you go down, and have an iced coffee/apple juice when you get there and when you finish too, you will be 100% no problem. Also remember kids, we will be cruising down to Autosalon afterward if you are keen - SAU cruise to Autosalon - you heard right!!!!
  10. John from Marvey Tech does excellent work and is quite cheap
  11. ^^^^ That is Heslo's dad's V35
  12. so Iron Chef, did u pick up a 34GTR when in Japan? What were the prices and quality like?
  13. I may be biased, but I love R34s. After sitting in one, all other Skylines seem old and crappy
  14. ^^^ wow is that an M35 Stagea near the right hand end? I didn't know there was one in SA.
  15. I thought I might as well post some pics of the Blackbird (haven't got any of me standing on it unfortunately) - a good pic of it from the front, one of its rear (notice the size disparity between the Vietnam Huey behind it). Also some other shots from that folder - anyone guess from which TV show the restaurant we are standing in front of is from? The last pic will give you a clue
  16. I have stood on the wing of one of those aka Will Smith style in "I Am Legend" (without the golf balls) - on the USS Intrepid in New York Absolutely amazing plane up close!!! (Made the Tomcat, F16 and Harrier next to it seem rather boring lol) - the Concorde was cool as hell too - actually got to go for a walk through it too!
  17. ^^^^ oooooh do they make them for R34s as well? I would be dead keen on lots of carbon interior parts ....
  18. yep, Pelican Plaza Shopping Centre - North East Road, Ridgehaven
  19. yep I am definitely in. Please guys - there are tons of you in the North-East - come and give blood. The pretty nurses will help you through it - it is not that bad at all. At some stage of our lives pretty much all of us will need blood for some reason or other. They are DESPERATE for more blood, as there is a shortage of people willing to do this simple little thing. You WILL feel better for it! CMON SAU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. hehe looks like I had better bring my Buckhunter A game
  21. ^^ no Karl, I am saying that the GTR has been labelled as an easy car to drive, in start contrast to all the other cars that do the Ring in a similar time. And just because a professional race driver has done the ring production car record in the Vette, doesn't mean anyone could do that time. Also, I bet the GTR has done dozens of laps near their official time, yet I bet the Vette did that one freak lap, and the rest of them were way off. I am willing to bet that any decent race driver could get the GTR around the track near the official time (within reason). I am also willing to bet that all but the very best drivers would put the Vette fair and square into the Ring wall in no time. Look how hard he sometimes has to wrench the steering wheel, feather the wheel in and out of corners, and often go easy on the throttle until the car straightens up. Yes, some people might enjoy the challenge of driving such a car, but I am not one of them. Like all things, we are not comparing apples with apples. US$70K car vs US$110k car. Fact is, no matter what, the Vette is not 50% times better, faster, prettier, anything over the GTR. And as pretty and fast as they are, in the US they are still considered to be a Commonwhore - on par with HSVs here.
  22. congrats mate - enjoy the peace and quiet while it lasts .... hopefully you have a bit of time before he develops a personality and decides he doesn't want to sleep when you do anymore /end advice from a tired Dad
  23. Impressive, no doubt - but look how hard the driver has to work to get the thing around the Ring - compare it to the vids of the R35GTR doing it and you will notice the Vette is being driven on the edge - yet the GTR seems to just dawdle around. I know which one I would prefer to drive - some people look for a challenge - I want a car that is not going to put me into a wall without notice. Pete - when you say the Vette is 'cheap' remember that the $110k - $115k would EASILY by $150k landed and complied here, and then you have the cost of rhd conversion etc etc - would have to cost $170k to get one on the road here. And remember that the R35GTR only costs US$72,000 in America - so you are talking over 1.5 times the cost of a R35GTR.
  24. lol - best pic (and caption) ever
