nah Steve I was playing in a war on a Gamespace server ....
-
So, did this event even take place? I didn't hear ANY promotion on the radio or TV whatsoever, and I assume you couldn't get anyone to enter their car due to the very steep prices. Even spectator entry fees of $20+ ($40?) no-one in Adelaide would pay to go. Nice of you to even answer Steve's question above ....

fishing (if anyone ever has a spare seat on a boat I am always available) 8-ball/pool Texas hold'em CS:S, Scarface, BF1942 watching movies eating out/fine/dining/drinking (spent 6 hours last Thurs @ Belgian Beer Cafe for lunch, then 5 hours at the Greedy Goose for dinner) overseas holidays (had 2 last year and a month in the USA in 2005) a small amount of cycling waterskiing/hydrosliding (all my mates have sold their boats so haven't for a few years) I guess I had better list the wife, since she takes up most of my time
-
nah I'm pretty crap mate, but play for fun every now and then when I get time. I don't use the CS:S friends system - don't even know how to.
-
yeah my CS:S clan was planning to head to this, but we couldn't get 5 people to commit, and there is no point if we can't compete in the 5v5 CS:S comp
-
sorry mate you have no chance .... if someone lent you their plate they would be in huge danger of losing it if you took it to a cruise - the regulations are very strict, and the owner would face huge fines plus losing the very valuable plate.
-
yeah but imagine if the government ran it and it only cost you $50 to do? How cool would that be, and we would all be significantly better drivers with cheaper insurance (insurance companies love people who have done these courses since they don't have accidents anymore) and we would all live safer driving lives. But yes at the $300 odd (from memory) these are now it is a bit rich. But what price can you put on your life?!
-
I agree with Jared in that if the government really gave half a shit about the road toll they would make EVERYONE do a defensive driving course ASAFP, and those that don't pass take their licences away. In my opinion it should be a vital part of getting your Provisional licence. Why the govt doesn't agree is a total mystery to me. Yes sorry Import S13 for hijacking your thread - hope it all works out for you in the end!
-
yeah no worries at all Michael - if they pulled in front of you, then you can quite legitimately claim it to be their fault - and the law sees it this way too. I am not sure how you would go about proving it though - but I would plead bloody murder than take the blame if that is what happened if I was you! Worst thing is it affects your future insurance premiums - $300 is nothing now, but if they jack up your insurance by $300-$500 for the next few years you will be spewing - especially since it seems it wasn't your fault. Sorry if I jumped to conclusions.

yep I can't agree with you more Jared and Steve! I am keen to know who votes Labor. They have been voted in by the people. They have received a phenomenal amount of extra income from speed and red light cameras in the past years, yet seem to be spending less on roads than ever. I would have thought a responsible thing for Mr. Rann to do is to spend even a small percentage of this huge windfall on some serious road maintenance. Yet people keep voting this front-page-baby-kisser in to 'lead us', yet he has no policy, but to blow the whole state budget each year on useless shite we never see any benefit from. When was the last time you visited a public hospital for treatment to wait up to 12 hours? Or went to the Rego Office to wait in line for 1+ hour? Or drove on shitty roads which they keep dropping the speed limit on rather than fixing up? Who voted this 'government' in????? I just don't understand. Apparently the Labor govt has employed a further 2,500 admin/government workers (not in hospitals, police, schools or transport maintenance) since they have been in power. Where is the benefit for this $12,500,000 or so in annual expenditure? I sure don't see it. It is our money down the drain, when they can't even balance a budget and constantly run in huge deficit, yet our services etc are the worst they have ever been. Anyone seen any burst water mains lately? Why don't the government force SA Water to actually spend the $20M sink fund they have put aside for preventative maintenance rather than fix them as they burst? Not to mention all of the Labor govt driven policy on hoon laws etc etc. Statistics prove that over half of all traffic fatalities are caused by drunk drivers, 20% are on country roads and are caused by fatigue or inexperience, and 20% are drug related. This means that a VERY small percentage is actually caused by 'hooning'. How about addressing drink driving problems and put a booze bus on EVERY exit to town EVERY Saturday night - the amount of times over the Xmas period I drove around on Friday and Saturday nights and I never once was pulled over for breath testing - in around 20 outings. This is not good enough, when over 50% of all accident fatalities are caused by drunk drivers. Then when they catch them triple all disqualifications and fines - then see how many people are repeat offenders. ok glad I got all that off my chest, but it is only the tip of the iceberg unfortunately. /end rant

Various R34 4 Door Parts
Nightcrawler replied to msports180's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
hey mate I know it's a low offer, but will you do the rear seat and all 4 door trims for $300? I can post back my front door trims if you need replacements. Things is I already have the material to cover the rear seats and door trims but am too lazy to fit it. Where are you and any idea on freight cost to Northgate, SA, 5085? Cheers, Andrew -
fark man that sounds like a shocking accident - did your wife make a full recovery? Damn dude you have had some bad luck. Yes, at the end of the day cars can be replaced but lives can't. This is a lesson learnt by too many unfortunately. And yes, I can't agree more that when you leave proper following distance often some d!ckhead cuts in front of you anyhow. I guess we just have to learn to be patient, drive to the conditions and capability of our cars. It is also one of my huge pet peeves - obviously connected to the first. I also blame the ageing population where lots of the insane stuff I see is caused (often indirectly) by older people doing much lower speed than the limit, and/or pulling out straight in front of you. They are usually not directly involved in the accidents, but cause many by frustrating the hell out of people and winding them up until they do something stupid. Mmmmm Grange - I wish I had some spare money atm to buy some off you. My brother-in-law is a collector and may be very interested in acquiring some from you - I have sent him an email about it and will let you know.

Parts For Sale
Nightcrawler replied to xcon18's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
any idea on how much to freight a black standard GTT wing to Adelaide 5085? -
ouch sorry to hear Michael, but no matter what, you must have been following the Commodore in front way too closely. This is one of my MAJOR beefs with SA drivers - they ALWAYS travel too close to the car in front of them. No wonder we are the rear-ender state. It makes me sick that people do this all the time, and imho you are lucky the innocent guy in the 4wd didn't punch you in the mouth. Sounds harsh, and nothing against you personally, but maybe you won't travel so close to the car in front of you in the future. If you don't have ABS, then at 60km/h you need to leave at least 4 car lengths between you and the car in front of you - not the usual 3 (which almost no-one does anyhow) - as you have found out often the car in front of you has. Imagine if you were in the GTR and some *milkshake* ran up the back of you .... needless to say you would be unhappy Sorry mate, and I really am not an a$$hole (well maybe a little bit), it's just I drive around all day for work and see some of the worst things - it is no small miracle that the Skyline stays in one piece! It drives me absolutely crazy - so much so that I now refuse to do any work out Main North Rd as I see people doing 100km/h and leaving barely a car length or 2 between them (you should be able to count 3 full seconds travel time between cars no matter what speed you are doing - so at 100km/h you should be leaving around 10 car lengths, at 80km/h 8 car lengths MINIMUM). Anyhow, I am very glad to hear you weren't hurt, and hopefully the financial side of things works out ok for you.

nah we have plans tonight Steve so not coming

pffft Violet - what sort of Nissan fan are you? .... try Midnight Purple!
-
how long is the wait now if I order a full set of springs and shocks? Are there spares in this delivery?
-
I bought an el-cheapo Hybrid copy from JustJap for around $350 delievered with piping. Spent a whole day with Nozila fitting it - bastard of a job, but I didn't have to pay someone else to do it. I would recommend you buy a JustJap one and get Nozila to fit it for a modest fee (he has done many, including a few from these forums).

Precision Turbochargers Ball Bearing Highflow - R32, R33, R34 & Vg30
Nightcrawler replied to QRI05E's topic in Group Buys
these look awesome, however I don't understand why when you get one of Slide's hi-flowed turbos he says it is compulsory to drill out the oil restrictors to allow more oil to cool the turbo, yet these and CGC don't tell you to do this. -
I can see where you are coming from Guy, but I am talking ground level things like Joel said - even simple things like ALWAYS wearing an electrostatic wrist strap EVERY time you touch a computer - I see professionals even not doing this and zapping things from time to time. I sold a brand new AGP video card on Ebay a little while ago (tested it was not DOA before I posted it) and the little prick that bought it zapped it when putting it in his machine. He screamed blue murder I had sold him a faulty card etc and when I asked him if he was wearing an electrostatic wrist strap he asked what one was. I told him to go screw himself.

argh if you didn't perfectly spread the thermal paste (=goop) over the CPU, then you have DEFINITELY fried the CPU. You would only need the smallest hot spot for a fraction of a second to fry an Intel CPU. Never, ever, ever just let the pressure of heatsink application spread the goop, as it is NEVER perfectly even. Dude you really should have gotten a tech like Howie (or even myself) to do it for you - there is a reason guys go to Uni to learn how to fix computers And like Howie said - noone should EVER use the crap that comes with heatsinks or even worse pre-applied to heatsinks - get some good stuff - I always use Arctic Silver 5 these days
-
nah they didn't want anything to do with chroming or polishing my rims when I went to them a year ago. Try a place out at Greenfields - someone on here will know their name and address.
-
damn will be playing Texas Hold'Em at a mates house ... next time Mike

Various R34 Gtt Parts
Nightcrawler replied to ssslpr's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
I want coilovers that are a LOT like stock springs/shocks as I use the car all day for work. So you say the HA's are softer than SS's or harder? Do they come with camber tops? If not, I can buy the same from Greenline for under $1,000 delivered to my door brand new .... -
