  1. I bought some pre-shaped tint to suit our cars off USA Ebay for under $50 delivered and applied it myself. I intended to fit it for a short period for a car show, but since I never got picked on by cops I have left it on for over 2.5 years now and never been pulled over (despite using my car all day out on the road for work) .... but every state is different. It definitely is illegal here in SA, but I haven't been pulled up on it (touch wood).
  2. ^^ how good are your welding/fabrication skills? I need to redesign my high flow cats to get more clearance (as we discussed at the V35 meet)
  3. ^^^ I would have been around 30 at the time .... but also it has been pointed out to me that many grey imports are now in the Redbook - where 6 years ago they weren't .... ^^^ care to elaborate on that? Obviously he has had very recent issues .....
  4. Shieeet sorry Matty, I forgot all about you! Yep you can have passenger seat for the Victor cruise .... remind me closer to the date
  5. Yeah the flu sucks Adam - hope you and Krystle get over it quickly! Yeah the HUGE problem with a cruise is that the organiser of the cruise takes FULL responsibility for EVERYTHING that takes place on the cruise. I know we are not a group of louts, but even if the cops pulled someone over or came to one of the meet spots they would want to speak to who is in charge, check for the appropriate cruise insurance (and yes SAU:SA club cruises have this), etc etc. Sadly it is not as simple as just organising a cruise. Plus if we do it on a weekend afternoon we WILL get a slow car(s) in front of us and you end up doing the most frustrating 60km/h cruise in an 80/100 zone you have ever done. Hence why SAU:SA does dawn cruises, or goes WAY off the beaten track (like our next one in a few weeks is to Victor Harbor and takes some cool roads way out the back of beyond to get to Victor by the long route.)
  6. It was good to see some people, but very poor in the sense that only 5 (edited- duh) out of the rsvp'd 8 cars turned up (and 2 of those didn't even care enough to come on here and let us know). These events simply do not work if people say they are coming and then don't. Not turning up due to not liking a carpark is pretty piss weak tbh, especially since we had the whole back row against the fence and we parked with bucketloads of room between our cars .... we got a supreme table exactly where I envisaged, and the food was outstanding as expected.
  7. They would argue that 1) just because the info might not be readily available to you, doesn't make the law any less applicable to you (but I am positive that your local rego office/defect clearing station would be able to supply it to you), and 2) if you are increasing the outer edge of your rim position out 43mm on each side compared to stock, you would be WELL aware that what you are fitting is illegal
  8. Sadly the SA cops DO have a doc with the max track of Skylines on it, and they DO measure them (I know people who have been defected for it).
  9. haha maybe true
  10. Technically, if you increase your wheel track by more that 10mm on each side (which decent width rims alone will do), then your car is illegal under Aus compliance rules. Let alone those of us that run around with 86mm wider stance than stock at the rear
  11. Why would you import one? There are 160 currently for sale on CarSales, and the limited amount of money you would save by importing one is not offset by the timeframe and risk.
  12. As I said in my PM, no I haven't booked, but I am pretty sure you can't book the front bar seats where we want to eat - I assume they are referring to the Indian restaurant at the rear. But yeah I am fine with everyone getting there a bit before 12pm so we can suss it out and if desired head somewhere else.
  13. ^^^ there is no way that is stock suspension. And the offsets you are talking are right flush fitment with stock suspension - but as advised it will look very 4wd spec.
  14. Raween I am pretty sure I am running Eibach lowered springs.
  15. Similar ride to stock. No idea, but I assume the sports version would be firmer. No idea on shipping - never heard of Bongo - it was so long ago I have nfi how they were shipped (or how much it cost), but assume it was through UPS.
  16. Looks like szymonsta is going to make it there in his supercharged beast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. OK we have locked it in for this Sunday 12pm - we can drool over each other's rides in the carpark, then head in for some lunch. Anyone that wants to go for a cruise after is most welcome to do so. See you all at the BBC!
  18. To upload pics select 'more reply options" in the bottom right hand corner, then select "browse" at the bottom the the left, select the pics saved on your computer and upload. Done.
  19. haha I was the guy that came up to you are the drags on Sunday and told you to come to the V35 meet this Sunday Did you get a decent time out of it in the end?
  20. Exactly - I pop the panel lift door and start the car in the garage every morning 5 minutes before I leave so that when I get out to the car I have 1) a nice and cool/warm cabin (depending on the season) and 2) engine all nicely warmed up - I need to pull out onto an arterial road within 1 minute of leaving my home, so need to give it a bit of stick in order to pull out safely ....
  21. I've been there a bunch of times and never had an issue. Were you in the Indian restaurant, or in the pub/front bar? I would prefer to eat at one of the booth areas in the front bar (down by the kegs) tbh as I am not a massive Indian fan. But, where else would you suggest?
  22. ^^ great link! And to help you calculate what effect offset has on inside clearance and outer face movement: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp
  23. Answer = IT IS COMPLETELY DESIGN DEPENDENT.
  24. Lip has nothing to do with offset. The style of the rim spoke dictates lip (but in general the lower the offset the more lip). However as I said it is about rim design - you can get XD9s in +30mm offset and they have buttloads of lip due to the spoke design, whereas a rim like the Work Kais will have little to no lip even in +12 offset. Confused yet?
  25. You will very much struggle to fit a 235 on a 10.5" rim - in fact few tyre places will actually do it - that is a LOT of stretch! 265s are better, and even then are a tad stretched.
