S.a Increased Speeding Fines , Licensing
Nightcrawler replied to NISSAN GTR's topic in South Australia
Nah haven't put the solar on yet Pete - and I could never produce more than I use, so the feed-in tariff is null and void. We had priced up and were just about to go with a $20k 5kw Conergy system when I got hit with a $21,500 run-off insurance bill from winding up my company and going on as staff with work, so that wiped out the spare $20k I had put aside .... but early next year we will put a 5kw system on to help with the bills. And yes Troy, thankfully haven't had the cops sniffing around for a hydro setup .... with the amount of power we use I am surprised we haven't been flagged. -

Haha - you should try on my last power bill - $2,400 for the QUARTER. Yes, you read right. But you get that with a big house with a 12kw reverse cycle a/c running almost 24 hours a day, many plasma/tvs on all day, home office with at least 2 pcs running all day, outdoor electric spa ..... I should own my own power company. -

Badges & Grills For The V35
Nightcrawler replied to manc01's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Problem with those (and any headlights you buy out of the USA) is that they are right direction biased - that is they were designed for driving on the right hand side of the road. They would blind oncoming motorists .... most likely the first cop going the other way at night would nab you - mind you there are some people on here who have been running them and haven't had any problems. you can adjust them so far to try and make them less blinding to oncoming cars, but the actual shape of the light spread is wrong for LHD cars. -

It is already painted under your rear badges - just remove them, get rid of the sticky stuff and give it a good polish - you will never know they were there .... -

^^^ agree 100%. I went on a country run yesterday around Stockport, Mallala, Parham and back through Two Wells - most roads were recently changed 100 limit - I have never seen an accident out there on those roads - they are pretty straight and quite safe. And like you said the d!ckheads who cause or are involved in most accidents won't obey the new speed limits anyhow. And you'll notice that they NEVER mention that there are more than triple the number of cars on the road now vs 30 years ago, yet the number of fatailities has actually DROPPED in that time. Problem, my arse. They also don't mention that the vast majority of fatalities are 1. single car accidents (ie. in the country hitting a tree), and/or 2. the vast majority involve drugs/alcohol and most times the occupants weren't wearing setabelts. If you are stupid enough to do those things, then you are going to crash and die no matter what the speed limit is. Yet the rest of us suffer. -
^^^ oh man - this is what you get when a red blooded V8 lover comes onto a Skyline website Cmon man .... you gotta have some Jp pop culture knowledge - get with it :D http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domo_%28NHK%29

I have disabled port TCP 445 just to be safe - this seems to be the most common port sniffed, and the interwebz says it is hackers number 1 target. I run a registered/active version of Malwarebytes - it goes OFF like a frog in a sock if someone tries to access my computer, so it doesn't look like anthing is getting through. I once had someone try to backtrace me through UTorrent and Malwarebytes went BALLISTIC - so I know it works. Interestingly I rebooted my connection 15 minutes ago and sure enough it issued me a different IP from Adam - and since then I haven't been sniffed .... whereas on my last reconnection I was hammered wihtin 3 minutes of connection. Weird. I assume this is an Adam-directed DDOS, and have given Adam Internet the heads-up just in case. But yeah I will run all the scans. thanks for the tip!
-
Thanks Ben, that's what I thought. BUT, I have rebooted my modem around 6 times tonight, so (I presume - I haven't kept an eye on it) my Adam-assigned IP keeps changing - how would they know to keep attacking me when my IP changes? I had a look and those IPs are from all over the place, Taiwan, Costa rice, Russia .... I assume they got my IP from downloading Torrents, but like I said my IP with Adam is not static, and changes all the time .....

My internet has been playing up tonight somewhat (but was working through the period below) .... not sure if my internet disconnections are an Adam Wimax issue or what ... but checking through my modem log I came across these: Thursday, 15 December 2011 9:04:04 PM Blocked access attempt from 212.34.104.8:1706 to TCP port 445 Thursday, 15 December 2011 9:04:06 PM Blocked access attempt from 212.34.104.8:1706 to TCP port 445 Thursday, 15 December 2011 9:05:54 PM Blocked access attempt from 84.237.162.93:4574 to TCP port 445 Thursday, 15 December 2011 9:05:57 PM Blocked access attempt from 84.237.162.93:4574 to TCP port 445 Thursday, 15 December 2011 9:08:46 PM Blocked access attempt from 222.189.238.115:6000 to TCP port 3306 Thursday, 15 December 2011 9:10:32 PM Blocked access attempt from 94.67.201.65:1040 to TCP port 445 Thursday, 15 December 2011 9:10:35 PM Blocked access attempt from 94.67.201.65:1040 to TCP port 445 Thursday, 15 December 2011 9:16:37 PM Blocked access attempt from 90.156.201.106:80 to TCP port 2386 Thursday, 15 December 2011 9:16:40 PM Blocked access attempt from 90.156.201.106:80 to TCP port 2386 Thursday, 15 December 2011 9:18:24 PM Blocked access attempt from 208.248.77.132:80 to TCP port 48623 Thursday, 15 December 2011 9:22:41 PM Blocked access attempt from 60.172.22.77:6000 to TCP port 1433 Thursday, 15 December 2011 9:24:34 PM Blocked access attempt from 187.59.151.131:4638 to TCP port 23 Is this normal, or is someone tring to hack me? And no, I had no Torrents or anything downloading at the time.

But I was told they are only for trucks/log books at this time. -
^^^ DOH! How many hours had he owned it when he did that?

If you can't get a Nistune for your ECU Jenna (some R34s you can, some you can't depending on what type/brand ECU is in it), then go an SAFCII. Had one fitted to my R34 with good results, and now have it on my V35. On the 35 the tune made an extra 8rwkw and flattened torque and all curves rather nicely. Obviously having a turbo and running rich you would see much bigger gains.
-
^^^ how lucky was he to go over that rock wall - had he hit it they would have been identifying him by dental records! Nasty stuff - and yes those guys are freaking crazy! If you haven't already, track down a copy of "Grand Prix: the Killer Years" - same sort of story, it gives you a whole new respect for racers and what they do. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00z8v18

Need More Power From Vq25Dd
Nightcrawler replied to Howaitonaito's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Yeah but reliability absolutely goes out the window with the addition of a supercharger or turbo (and I assume the OP is on his Ps so can't have forced induction). -
Need More Power From Vq25Dd
Nightcrawler replied to Howaitonaito's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
With decent modifications (HFCs, exhaust, Intake, Z-tube, Kinetix upper plenum, alloy radiator, oil cooler, bigger trans cooler, Apexi SAFCII, but no cams or port and polish) I have got my VQ35 up to 183rwkw ..... I would think you would be pushing shit uphill to get anywhere near that with a VQ25 -
V35 Stereo Change

Basically any stereo can be made to utilise the steering wherel controls with the addition of a SWI-PAC module. -
I was emailed this classic today ..... Tolerance I am truly perplexed that so many of my friends are against another mosque being built in Adelaide. I think it should be the goal of every Adelaidean to be tolerant. Thus the Mosque should be allowed, in an effort to promote tolerance........... That is why I also propose that two nightclubs be opened next door to the mosque, thereby promoting tolerance from within the mosque. We could call one of the clubs, which would be gay, "The Turban Cowboy ", and the other a topless bar called "You Mecca Me Hot." Next door should be a butcher shop that specializes in pork, and adjacent to that an open-pit barbeque pork restaurant, called " Iraq o' Ribs." Across the street there could be a lingerie store called “Victoria Keeps Nothing Secret" with sexy mannequins in the window modelling the goods. Next door to the lingerie shop there would be room for an adult sex toy shop, "Koranal Knowledge", its name in flashing neon lights, and on the other side a liquor store called "Morehammered." All of this would encourage the Muslims to demonstrate the tolerance they demand of us, so the mosque problem would be solved. If you agree with promoting tolerance, and you think this is a good plan, please pass it on...

Man I love sports (and the people who watch them)

People need to remember that the is THE WASTELAND. Short of personally attacking or vilifying anyone, people can do and say in here what they like. People whinging about the amount of religiious or sexual orientation discussions need to remember that 1. there are a handful of posts on both subjects in 84 pages of Wasteland discussion, and 2. no-one is trying to make anyone else do or believe anything - people just put forward their beliefs on subjects - it is not like Madaz or I have EVER asked or tried to influence anyone to go to Church (despite in strict theory we are both SUPPOSED to try to do that), and Jenna is not asking anyone to march in a Gay Pride march .... far from it - we are all just expressing our opinions. Just remember to play nice poeple - respect each other, as we are all entitled to our own opinions. We don't have to like others beliefs and opinions, but take everything with a grain of salt and some cement too in many cases. And if you don't like The Wasteland, unsubscribe and DON'T COME IN HERE AND READ IT - no-one is forcing you to. Seriously, if it upsets you that much, delete your SAU account altogether and don't come back. And yes, I am a craky pants this morning. God help anyone that posts up a for sale ad in the General Section

V36 5 Speed Vs 7 Speed Auto
Nightcrawler replied to projectx's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I am keen to know this also. I love the blip of the throttle when you change down in an R35GTR. I wish we could buy a simple plug-in solution for my 2003 V35. -
Did Anyone Got Speed Fined On The Way To Saunats?
Nightcrawler replied to Chopstik's topic in South Australia
^^^ Nope, no leg to stand on. As part of Victorias Certificate of Roadworthiness you can get your speedo checked/calibrated for free. And in this age of GPSs and smart phoines, to argue that you were speeding cos you didn't know any better is a cop out. Even more so when they have speed check signs all over Melbourne. Don't get me wrong, I cruise around Adelaide all day every day doing 65km/hish and love how lax the enforcement is here. But in Vic I ALWAYS stayed below the speed limit. -
Ah, well if Mike doesn't know then you are even more screwed .... sorry for the bad news. I looked at buying a black 4 door from Synergy (I am hoping that is not the one you bought - as it was a major rear end accident repair) - and I love how the GT8 drives and feels WAY more powerful than it actually is, BUT I just couldn't come to terms with the risk that if the trans shat itself you can basically throw the car away. Apparently putting a normal V35 auto trans in isn't a MAJOR deal (but obviously would cost quite a few thousand), but I can't see how the ECU would deal with it. Maybe you would have to buy one of Mike''s manual change kits - where the trans is NEVER full auto, you ALWAYS have to change gears.
-
Sorry to tell you mate, but you are 6 ways to screwed. I bought a V35 sedan a couple of years ago on Ebay from Melbourne. While they were fixing up a few things for me before I flew over from Adelaide to pick it up, it developed the same fault you have. 3 weeks later the sensor came from Japan, then it cost $1,000 worth of fluid when they changed it, only for another sensor to give a fault once they got it all back together. Another 2 weeks to get a different sensor out of Japan, and the car was fine for a week or them driving it around (to get paint touched up, seat tear fixed and to make sure the trans was now 100%). THEN on a 1 hour drive it went into limp mode and a different sensor had gone. They had spent over $2k including fluids to fix it so far, and at that point I decided to not take delivery of the car and quit the deal (luckily I hadn't actually paid them any money at that point). The seller told me he was going to part the car out and not try to fix it again, as advice he had was that once a sensor has gone, they all go and are endless trouble. There is a reason everyone hates the CVT and keeps as far away from it as possible .... Ring Mike at MV Automatics at Blackwood - he would be the only mechanic in SA that has touched one.
