Yeah I think the tint looks awesome too. Was just pointing out that it is very illegal, in case you didn't know. Word is that if someone rear ends you (or me) the insurance company may not pay out, as the person could claim they couldn't see the brake lights due to the illegal tint. Scary thought. Yeah I am liking the carbon bar (I did the front bar and side skirts too), but it is a 10 foot car - it is great from 10 foot +, but ordinary from any closer ... it was my first go at putting on wrap and I did a pretty shitty job of it - it is all coming off and I will redo it. I might do the whole car yet for something different. It is a BIG job to do, but I learnt a lot from the 1st attempt and it will be much easier the 2nd time around.

Looks good, but you will never get it off and have the lights look any good again I am sorry to say. And they are defectable, so if you have Nazi cops in your neighbourhood expect the first one that sees them to defect you. That said, I have tint on mine that I bought off USA Ebay for about $40 - I put it on for a car show with the intention of taking it straight off (as I didn't want to get defected), but after running around with it on for a few weeks (before I had time to take the tint off), and not having one cop even look twice, I left it on. Mine has been on for nearly 2 years now and still looks like new.

Dang it, never hurts to ask .... but no don't need a trailer thanks mate - mine is driven, raced, driven home, then driven for work the next day ... in October I am even working on the Thursday, driving it over to Winton Friday morning for the SAU Nats, running it at Winton, then driving home Monday and taking it out to work on the Tuesday
-
Wow, you don't muck around Seb! Amazing motor AND amazing trailer! So, you will have a 'hardly used' VR38DETT you want to get rid of for a super cheap price hey? I wonder how it would shoehorn into the V35? :D
-
I would rather get there early in the afternoon and have time to have a bit of a look around town, few drinks a nanna nap, or all of the above. Arriving at dinner time is a PITA, especially to catch up with other SAUers there (like Ash) before it gets too late in the day. I also want to head to a car wash to give the beast a wash after the long journey. And I agree with Steve - driving early in the morning is much better for traffic etc also.
-
Yep leaving at 5am Friday is my preference too.

The 34 had done 160,000km and was getting very long in the tooth. Power steering hose failed (cost $500 to fix with a custom braided item), radiator let go, various heater hoses were leaking/failing every other week .... plus I had been running 230rwkw for 50,000km and I had a feeling the motor was not going to last a vast amount longer. Plus it was my work car, so reliability was the big issue. On the upside the V35 is flawless, runs 175rwkw and is a perfect daily work car with full on luxury. Love it to death. I wanted a V36, but 2 years ago when I bought the V35, V36s were $55k in black .... way too much. More affordable now, but now I have modded/set up the V35 to such a level that I couldn't bear to lose heaps of $$$ on it and start again.

Hopefully all SAU:SA members just got a mass email out, so now no-one can complain about not knowing

Hi, any SAU:SA Members keen on heading over to the SAU Nationals at the end of October, please head to this members only section thread for registration info: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/375987-s-a-u-nationals-registration/ This is only open to SAU:SA Club Members at this stage, and will be opened to the public/general SAU later on. Membership has its privileges Please note that there are only 10 cars per state granted entry to race at the track day at Winton, so if you are not an SAU:SA Club member, you will NOT get a spot. Entry into the show'n'shine and all the other stuff is open to everyone, and spectating at Winton and all the associated events of the weekend is free. We have a large group going over together, the more the merrier, so get on it everyone. There will be the best Skylines in Australia there (including the replica Gibson Winfield R32GTR), and some awesome competitions and prizes (some open to general public), with prizes including passenger hot laps in Seb's carbon fibre R35GTR and loads of other gear. For anyone who has been living under a rock : http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/346683-import-monster-sau-nationals-2011/ http://saunats2011.com/

^^^ Awesome rims there Dale - pretty much exactly what I originally intended to put on the V35 - what size/offset are they - they look like 17 x 10.5 +10 or so?

Yep Pete Liebig is your man http://www.plmsdevelopments.com/

Just when I thought Epic Mealtime couldn't get any more insane ....

Ahhhhh the memories ... I was just going through the giant stack of timeslips I still have sitting here in my office window .... my best 60' in the S15 was 1.912 with a run of 12.741 @ 109.01mph - September 2003 and came across these I uploaded years ago under a different username, for your enjoyment Those were the days!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I spoke with Rino about the lack of time boards .... back at the end of the AIR street meet days I had it on good authority that the old timing boards from Calder Park had been transported to AIR and were going to be put up. Then the whole thing turned to shit and shut down. Rino has no idea where the boards are these days (they are no longer at AIR), but he did hint that a good solution was in the works - so fingers crossed he is in the process of getting some!
-
And be aware that despite what some people say, you CAN blow your stock turbo at 10psi. The HPI R34 blew their turbo at 10psi - admittedly it was on a track day though. Plenty of people have run them at 12psi for plenty of time too, I am just pointing out the possibility. And you ask for a guarantee - there are no guarantees in this world! Every single motor is different and has a different power level, and different behaviour.
-
Yep, welcome to SAU. And PM RubyRS4 - he will help you out easily - and explain what he is doing as he does it.
-
I still have some drag rims/tyres in the shed mate .... but how much do you want for them?
-
Yeah mate that would be good. I also bought some small video cameras to mount in/on the car - I might tape one to the front bumper near ground level for shits and giggles too.
-
Well what everyone doesn't realise is that this event is a STREET MEET, and YOU can enter!!! I just spoke with Rino himself and he clarified a few things: - it is an open street meet with some demo and big cars there for display purposes. - they already have over 100 registrations for the 26th and are taking up to 200, so if you want in you had better hurry. - the track HAS been resurfaced and once the deep end if finished it WILL go to 1/4 mile! - entry to race on the 26th is $130 - the price will come down for future meets, but Rino has to start recouping some of the substantial costs in getting this up and running initially. Everyone needs to support this - even I will be entering the slow old V35 Entry forms here: http://racingonn.com.au/?page_id=1156 Exciting stuff!
-
Not sure Jenks, but you should DEFINITELY be in on the trip to Vic for the SAU Nationals - hundreds of the best cars in Australia converging on Winton and Shepparton - get on it!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I just can't reconcile, as a human being, someone writing "use" when talking to a group of people. Even "you's", whilst still abhorrent, would be almost human-like - but "use" - sheesh.

Wow R35GTRs are getting cheaper by the week .... http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/dealer/details.aspx?R=10667910&__sid=12DA85EEB887&__Qpb=1&Cr=2&__Ns=pCar_PriceSort_Decimal|0||pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&keywords=&__N=1216%201246%201247%201252%201282%204294963846%204294961487%20470&PriceFrom=470&seot=1&tsrc=allcarhome&__Nne=15&trecs=41&silo=1011 Will have to be under $100k soon.

OK well not quite $15k but close enough .... This one from last year http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/311409-r33-gtr-silver-stock-17000-95model-80xxxks/ $23k and still on the market .... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/364513-for-sale-nissan-skyline-r33-gtr-godzilla-26lt-twin-turbo-23000/page__p__5981422__hl__r33__fromsearch__1#entry5981422 $22k and still on the market - worked with mods http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/335024-r33-gtr-vspec-270rwkw-blue-nsw/page__hl__r33

I disagree - modified R33s are the hardest thing ever to sell (well ALL cars are near impossible to sell at the moment - just ask Damo, Volk34 or BitSus) .... the modifications are worth very little in this day and age of defects and blown engines .... I would have thought $15k would be a max number - there are R33GTRs selling all over the place for near that price - and all you have to do it minor mods to make them 270rwkw.
