  1. +1 for originals. One of the reasons why I bought a skyline
  2. Damn man that sucks! Hopefully the for sale section on this forum might have a whole r32gtr to be parted.
  3. My window washer is playing up too! Gotta check it out
  4. DUM455
  5. I've had the tacho problem. Apparently it's very common. I replaced it with a used one with lower KM's hehe cost $40 to install.
  6. Hi guys, The r33 gtr aircon seems to have a mind of its own. At first it would shut off after 5 minute of operation, I took it to auto electrician they changed one of the thermostats. This did not solve the problem. My heater was disabled because the guy said the heater was cutting in making it warm. This made it work the entire duration of when I can get it to turn on. Now the problem is that sometimes I cannot get the aircon to turn on. Took it back to him for the 5th time... he hit the auto button afew times and listened to the compressor turning on. It worked that time... but sometimes I cannot get it to turn on at all. Who enjoys sitting in a 40 degree car, hitting the auto button on and off hoping that the aircon would work? Also, when I'm already driving and decide I want aircon there is no way for me hear that confirmatory click of the compressor so I'd wait and wait hoping for the aircon to come on but no luck at times. I have given up on this auto electrician guy, not only has he disabled my heater but now sometimes I cannot even de-mist my windows with the aircon. What's going on here? Is it the climate control screwing up? Any help appreciated, fibbo.
  7. Hey guys, My battery light comes on every now and then esp. after it rains. I drive for like afew minutes and it goes off. Could it be the alternator or the battery that needs changing? This happens about once every 2 weeks or so. Cheers, fibbo.
  8. Hey guys, dumb question as above. Cheers, fibbo
  9. Compressor working, no leaks. Aircon worked from the start before I brought it in, main problem was it cutting out after 5 minutes. I brought it back to auto electrician he could not reproduce the problem (don't you just hate intermittent problems). He tweaked the aftermarket thermostat from 4 degrees to zero degrees, luckily at no extra charge and said bring it back if it still plays up. I'm happy that there are no leaks and that compressor is working though.
  10. I'll have what he's having!
  11. Hey guys, I'd like to know your opinion. I've taken my car to auto electrician twice for the aircon - it would be cool for 5 min then cut out and then would not start up again until some random time like maybe the next day. First time they said gas was low, regassed... didn't fix the problem charged me $80, next time they said thermostat was playing up, replaced it and charged me $120. Same problem. Should I: 1. demand for the problem to be fixed and not pay any more 2. cut my losses and take it somewhere else 3. just keep paying these guys until problem is sorted. Cheers, fibbo.
  12. I had a similar problem with jerky acceleration, but normal driving when taking it easy. It was the knock sensor wiring in my case causing the timing to go bad, once replaced by the workshop car ran beaut!
  13. Problem solved thanks to CRD. Had a vacuum hose to ?regulator split causing lean running replaced. Knock sensor gave error codes, wiring upgraded, timing reset... they power ran it on dyno and it was all clear. A bit pricey but I am very happy with the service and will gladly give CRD my business next time. Cheers, fibbo.
  14. I didn't trust the local mechanic so went ahead and did afew things myself. Cleaned the AFMs, opened and resoldered the joints, changed spark plugs (they had iridiums already in there doh). Ryco air filter. Still same problem. Where the heck is the gtr battery located? lol Took it to CRD today, man they have a tonne of skylines there! An R35 was being dyno'd the sound of that thing is SWEET! Will keep this updated, hopefully it isnt coilpacks lol
  15. How does one go about burning a clutch? I'm relatively new to driving manual. Cheers, fibbo.
  16. I'm taking it to the mechanic sometime this arvo. Two weeks ago I had an idle/stall/jerky acceleration problem the mechanic cleaned the AFMs and it was all good... now the jerky accel thing again I read the AFM post on this forum about dry solder joints being the problem. I was about to open up the AFMs to have a go myself, but dad said his mechanic friend can have a look first... so I'll keep u guys updated hehe
  17. Doesn't look like GTR dash, I has mine replaced recently too.
  18. On P's I'd say don't get a skyline, save up for a mint example when you get off P's. You'll thank yourself later
  19. Possibly the Ryco air filter I put in hmmm I'll put back the old ones to see how it goes, then sparks next. Cheers, fibbo.
  20. Hi guys, I'm getting pretty jerky acceleration, it feels like i'm driving over a staircase. Any ideas?
  21. Good stuff, I'll keep his name in mind thanks for sharing!
  22. I noticed afew weeks ago my driver side window had a 1cm wide scrape on the inside leading all the way down to the spot where you can unlock the car. I think someone tried to get at it :S
  23. Received my cluster 2 weeks ago and front bar last week. Troy and Matt are top blokes, always replying to my SMS asap Thanks guys!
  24. Just got back from my honeymoon and straight back to tinkering with my baby lol I'm no seasoned mechanic, more like noob trying to learn stuff from the forums and trying it myself. Managed to install a new air filter yippeee Had a bastard of a time trying to get the oil filter out unfortunately. I can grab onto it but it just won't budge. I've changed filters in other cars no problem, just this one is in a nasty spot and my 'jaws of life' oil filter wrench cannot get a grip around it bugger! How do you guys do it? I'm contemplating an oil relocation kit but the missus voted against it. New exhaust is on the Christmas list fingers crossed Cheers, fibbo.
  25. I just got my A/C checked and refilled, plus a second hand cluster installed for a grand total of... $80. I'm in syd tho.
