  1. hey guys Im thinking of giving the sohc the boot on my engine build and doing a RB26/30 for my vl turbo, im posting on here because not many people on calaisturbo would have the knowledge on rb26 heads as you guys do! I know exactly i have to do with SOHC but twin cam is new to me. Turbo i have purchased is the biggest of the garrett GT42r's and is rated for 1100hp 1.15a/r exhaust, at the end of this build i want to be pretty close to what this turbo can produce. So far i have only got these specs from rb26 setups i wish mine to pull in this power range. specs are: tomie procam 290 duration 11.50 lift tomie type b valves 9,500rpm limit hks djustable cam gears porting valve guides standard valves Would this setup be close to what i should be running? any comments would be great on your opion on the right head setup! thanks guys shaun
  2. Will i have to get a second job to get a Trust GTR Drag Cooler, or are they fairly Reasonably priced? cheers boys shaun
  3. Hey guys As the topic stats what do i have to look for when getting a front mount for 800hp?...Is it worth getting a custom made cooler when it comes to these types of HP figures or buying a kit going to be fine? cheers guys shaun
  4. hey liquid85 $1000 will get you a really good bang for your buck system, what type of car audio shops do you have around your area? places like JB HiFi ect ect, places like these just go crazy when they see cash in hand. So make them offers. 300 - 350 will get you a good headunit for this price bracket. I would go pioneer:)....UsAlly to make a good front stage go some 6" splits, depending if you want to be heard from the shops or sound qauilty the size of the sub and and box will play a big part. For sound qauilty go 8" to 10", if you like your rap and RnB go 12" to 15", as i say to my mates the box is pretty much every thing when it comes to the desired sub bass. Spend no more than 200 on the sub. splits you could get for 200. Make sure when you purchase an Amp Ask to see the hand book to see the Specifications of the amp, find out its true WATTS RMS power output, just because an amp has shown on it 200watt by 4, dosnt mean it produce's that amount of power, its just a marketing tool. Thats what sucks most people into buying amps thinking they have you huge power output. Save around 70 for wireing kit and RCA leads and other things like speaker wire, 8 gauge wireing kit sould be fine for a single amp setup. 400 will be enough for a good 4 channel amp for your purpose. :)NOW BARGIN WITH THEM:) if you need any more help just ask cheers mate shaun
  5. hey guys just did a search on them and i couldnt find the answer to my question, im new to this forum so i dont really know my way around. any help would be very good.. cheers guys shaun

  7. I am looking into possible turbo upgrades for the RB25, and would like to know if anyone has fitted one of the GT series turbos, what hp rating it was and the sorts of results they got from it? Cheers Guys Shaun
  8. so dose the fluttering only occur when you dont have a BOV?
  9. hey guys just wondering how that flutering noise is made when ya back off the Accelerator, is the noise produced from the pod filter? Cheers guys Shaun
  10. Hey thanks guys for the replys, Hi Sydneykid, ok so far i have a stock as a rock R33 Gts-t, things like exhaust sysytem are no dramas as my mate works at an exhaust shop. Horsepower target hopefully will be around 600Hp, (447rwkw i think). The Budget i intend to spen on "JUST" the engine alone is $8,000 - $9,000, i have a totally different budget for other engine parts. So The Engine has to be built to handle 600Hp for $9,000 is this possible?. The intend use for this car will be a bit of every thing 1/4 mile, daily driver and drift car:D. I will be able to do some things myself but other thAn that i can get it done threw my mates or if worst comes to worst, threw a turbo workshop. So Rember ($9,000) to Spend on engine internals, cams, rods, pistons ect ect all the stuff to make a stable and slightly worked rb25det engine. Thanks for the help guys Shaun PS: I want to build me car around the JMS R33, but without stock internals:p. Turbo i will be using is a Garrett GT 3540.
  11. Hey Guys Just wondering what the going rate is these days to get a r33 gts-t engine built to handle 400rwkw, i want it to be a strong engine, not an engine i will just boost up for the 1/4 mile. As i am in melbourne which turbo mechanics would be best to go too?. I want to spend about $9,000 tops on the engine internals to achive 400rwkw, do you guys think this is posible on this budget? What type of modifications can i aspect for $9,000?. The turbo is not included in the $9,000 as that will be purchased in the near future. Cheers Guys for your help Shaun
  12. hey guys i have not currently brought my skyline yet, but was just wondering what is the going rate for a stally and shift kit? Im hopefully trying to pick up a R33 GTS-t at the start of next year as i am at still at school. Ive got a buggered up left leg that makes it a bit hard to use the clucth unless the seat can be placed back alot. If i can get away with a manual i will get one for sure but other than that i will probally have to work an auto:( ...so how do the worked auto skyline R33 gtst's go??? Cheers Guys shaun
  13. Hey guys Even thowe im new to this skylineaustralia forum. i still know my fair share of car audio knowledge. First of all find out what amp rating fuse's are being used on the amp. What type of amp class is the amp? mono block ect ect ?. Wonce you find out what the rating is of ya fuse, then you will be able to make a good choice on what gauge cable you should be running, and keep in mind if you are going to upgrade your system in the near future it may pay to spend that little bit more and go a bit thicker. The run of length of wire you use will also play a big part on the sive you will have to get. I am currently running 0 gauge and i everything is fine, but rember as soon as you go up size's in wire componet's like fuse holders, get expensive so just keep that in mind. hope that helps shaun
