The current laws allow Ford and Holden to produce these type of cars for P platers, this is business. Furthermore, these cars are cheap to make and cheap to go fast in a straight line. Then kids (and some companies) forget about the brakes and suspensions to handle all that power. I'd take my chances in a Skyline than a Ford but that's not the point as you said (besides P platers can't drive GTRs). The point is these 6 kids should have known better, they should have checked each other but they didn't, and they picked the right car to speed quickly to 140km/h on suburban roads and hit a tree. If the law enforces further restrictions on powered cars, in particular Holdens and Fords, this will affect business and big bosses don't want that.

You forget that that is the inflated Australian prices. The GTRs were around 3 million to 5 million yen when new in Japan, about $40k-70k AUD, the new GTR is around what $80k? Is a Commodore worth $150k? Ford Phase III GTHO $750k? Hell no!

Thanks for this thread, did my car a well deserved clean today. Bought all the stuff from supercheap, only had mostly ArmorAll, Mothers and Maguairs so I got the Maggies, wanted to get Zaino or Optimum which I heard was even better.

Loky my advice is the fix it up properly and wait till end of the year or next year to sell if you really have to. You never know, you might end up keeping once everything works.

Yeah I saw a Police car exhibition in Funabashi one time, didn't have any skylines but there was an RX7 plus a few cool bikes for the kids. From what I've recalled from seeing pretty much the same pictures, there's an NSX and a few cool looking kei cars. Japan rocks that's all I can say

I agree that imported cars cost way too much here in Australia, but it's to protect the local market, always have been and always will. Lets just say that Japan and Korea and more realistic than the rest of the world in terms of producing cars that are more car for the dollar. Their aftermarket market kicks ass as well. The people who got their R35 first enjoys it longer, they are lucky in that respect but at a price. Much like when the R32 GTR was selling here in limited numbers, I think it was valued at over $70k at the time (a neighbour had one) but those guys enjoyed it. They are probably not enjoying the resale value right now but that's how it goes.

honto? I don't think it's that high, spirited driving maybe. Besides, 20l/100km is extremely poor for a V6 Japanese street car built for the new decade, its not a Hummer.

My honest opinion is that the price is still a bit too high. Taking out some mods and bringing the price way down will attract more interests.
