  1. Hey everyone, Just sayin wanted to stop by and say Hi. Im from the States, I live in Chicago, but figured this would be a good place to do some research on the RB series engines from Nissan as these engines arent very common out here, yet are increasingly more popular as swaps into the S-chassis. A bit about me: I've had my first 240SX since 2003. Its a 1995 240SX SE 5spd that I purchased from the original owner @ 98,xxx miles. I daily drove it for 2 years. Unfortunately Chicago winters and salty roads have a detrimental effect on the chassis and in 2005 I retired the car from daily driving duty to prevent further rusting. I completed my KA-T setup in 2006. ( If you dont know what I mean, the US cars got a 2.4 L non turbo 4 cylinder Nissan engine designated as the KA24DE: 155 hp / 160 lb-ft torque and 2.4 L of slow revving 4 cylinder power with a redline of 6500rpm. Not a strong engine but not bad for a N/A 4 banger. Its becoming increasingly popular that tuners stateside put on turbo kits or build their own custom turbo setups. The engine is capable of decent numbers and with rebuilt forged internals can handle lots of power. ) and its been boosting happily since then. Recently I added a calumsult real time ECU ( compatible and similar to Nistune ) to the setup and eventually will rebuild the KA and upgrade the entire setup for more boost. I picked up another 240SX meant as a daily driver in 2008. It was a 1990 SOHC KA24E (less power but easier cheaper to work on) Auto coupe. But the trans was blown and it was rusty. At first I wanted to 5spd swap it but then found a cleaner shell that was 5spd with a blown headgasket. I sold off the 5spd swap parts and parted out the rusty shell. I picked up a 1989 SOHC 5spd coupe last spring and swapped over the motor from the auto car over winter. The chassis has 80,xxx miles on it and was driven by an older lady. Its got some rust but nothing beyond fixing. Its been my daily driver since then. A few months back I picked up a 1995 auto S14 with over 200K miles on the chassis that had a lower mileage motor & trans swapped in. I bought it for $100 since the guy thought the engine was gone on it. $80 tow later and a jump start car came to life again. I replaced the brakes on it and added some shocks and sold it to a friend for $1500. In its place I picked up a 1987 Mitsubishi Mighty Max 5spd pickup truck with 63,xxx from the second owner. As we speak a spare 6 bolt 4G63 from a 1st gen Eclipse is being rebuilt at a local machine shop and as soon as its done I will be doing the swap into the truck. Ive also built several 240s for different local people as well as numerous DSMs (Diamond Star Motors aka Mitsubishi Eclipse Turbos both FWD and AWD). Im also working on 2 x 2nd gen Eclipses for some friends. 1 is a 97 GSX with a built 2.0 6 bolt and a borg warner S366 on AEM standalone and the other is a 95 GST with a rebuilt 2.0 7 bolt on a super 60 with some goodies as well as all new front suspension / drivetrain running on DSM link. I am also in the process of opening up an online store for performance parts and hopefully in the near future will open up an actual shop location. Cars have been my passion for a long time now and as soon as I am done with school I hope I will have more time for them. Some pictures of the different projects: KA-T setup: S13 Daily ( future track car ) The Mighty Max: The GST: The S366: Hope to meet some people on here and dig the forum around for some good info.
  2. I am also curious about this as I am considering the option for the RB20DET swap into my S13. I dont need a lot of power and dont plan on a turbocharger bigger then an RB25 unit. But ive never heard anything about this company as I am located in Chicago, USA.
