Thanks mate, it wasn't connected to anything on the bottom and wouldn't have reached anything, perhaps it was the idea to "upgrade" at some point. Either way the clutch is working now In other news, I spent some money on the car today. I ordered myself an Ignitor and grabbed some injector seals (the last things we need before we can start the engine to make sure it's all good). Then I headed down to SPG and bought a Tial 44mm external gate, a few studs, nuts and other bits and pieces. I just need to wait for the ignition module to arrive, so hopefully we'll have had the engine running (minus turbo, wastegate & exhaust) for a few minutes by the end of next week. Looking forward to hearing it going... Jay

Hey guys, does anyone have an R33 series one ignitor laying around? Noticed that the R32 is missing one

I own a hacksaw and an underdeveloped sense of what is right in the world, it's never too late for stupidity Thanks for the info mate, I think because rally generally requires a navigator the rally standard requires the extra roof bars? (but I could be completely and utterly wrong). I think the Sainz bars are also only required for rally also? The document is long and a little ridiculous, seems very easy to miss something, which could cost a fortune later on down the line... I think I'll drop in on Steve again at some point before I get the cage done to be sure, as he will be the one approving it
-
I need to look into pricing for this but I think I would have this done even if I don't go for SI. Looking at the cage design it looks like an obvious weak point and with my limited welding knowledge it looks much easier to get in than the roof bars. Thanks for the info

Oh, almost forgot. This is the layout of the cage in my car in case anyone was wondering what I was blathering on about in my post yesterday.

I hadn't heard of this until a few months ago when I was trundling through DJRIFT's R32 build thread (never finished it, have to get back to that for some ideas as it seems to be a pretty awesome car), NA RB25's in R32 are pretty rare from what I gather. Mod plates for the engine/turbo (depending on what I need) is a bridge I'll cross when I come to it, as it's a simple conversion (no modifications to the engine mounts etc) I have been told there is no trouble with this at all. I'm not certain on other things such as whether a cat is needed, though Steve didn't mention it he didn't specifically say that it was fine to skip one. I need to get a custom front/dump pipe made up, but I'm assuming it will just be made to fit with a cat/decat in place. Small update: I received my GTR bonnet latch (so my bonnet will actually stay down now, rather than just sit there). I didn't realise before buying this car but the GTR bonnet latch is slightly further back, so you can't interchange the bonnets without either modifying the stock latch (which I've heard can be dodgy) or swapping for the correct latch. While I was there, I test mounted the GTR grill and the front bar which has been lazing around in my shed. Here's a photo of test mounting the manifold & turbo also Starting to look more like a finished car, my mechanic is coming around on Saturday to give me some pointers on work I can do myself and not tard up completely and work out what needs to be completed afterward. Getting closer to the track

I believe cages in general go against what would be considered roadworthy, I'm not sure where it stops though. He said that the fixed position seats were fine (bolt positions welded to the floor) and I believe rails are required for a normal inspection?

I stopped in on Steve Caplice for a chat yesterday afternoon, and as savman said I need a few extra bars to meet current regulations for rally, which is what I need if I'm going for SI. As far as licences are concerned I'd need a clubman rally licence ($160), and then after log booking I can apply to transport for SI as a rally car. I need some cross braces on the roof, as currently there's a single bar running down the centre. I have a feeling these could be pretty tricky/expensive to add in. One I hadn't noticed but Steve brought up is the need for pillar reinforcements, as there's more than 200mm horizontally between the top of my cage and the rear (see below). I'm assuming these will be relatively straightforward to add in, but will have to talk to someone who has built a cage first. Other than that I believe it all meets standards Still tossing up whether or not it is worth it, for longer trips I would be towing anyway and I need to work out exactly how hard (and expensive) it will be to add the extra bars in. As the cage is already welded into the car and is pretty close to the edges getting full welds could be difficult? He also said that as long as the cage meets standards that's the main thing they care about for cams, you may need to change a few things (he mentioned tyres) for the inspection, but engine, turbo, fixed position seats etc. don't matter as long as they're safe. I was half expecting that as it would be registered as a rally car I may need to downsize turbo/engine etc to meet rally standards, but he said that wasn't the case I keep losing this document, so I'm shoving it here so I can come back and find it http://www.camsmanua...le_J_2012-1.pdf Will add the current cage specs up in a few days for you guys to have a look at

It is now, before it was a random clutch fluid to nowhere brake line
-
This Was plugged in to the clutch fluid reservoir (see marking in red where I've replaced with other line) All I can think is that it was screwed in to help drain the reservoir away from other parts in the engine, anyone have any other ideas? Would hate for it to be some random workaround which was halfway through, and I've just disconnected it

Hey guys I'm in need of an R32 gtst left headlight and R32 GTR bonnet latch
-
Steve's a good bloke and probably has the answers to all my questions, will have to drop in and see him at some point next week.
-
Nah, that's what she said. Damn, still broken
-
SPG opened with new owners about a month or so ago in Kingston, have had a few quotes on prices from them I'll have to check out the cage documents when I get home and see exactly what is going on, if I have to take it back to AZ for a few more bars that's no issue
-
Will grab some pics tonight and shove them up The more I look at the car the more I see needs to be plugged in, not really much more work to get it all back together if you know what's going on, but I'm far from certain on this as I've never touched half of these things before so it would take me forever. I ended up opening the bonnet to my R33 to make sure I was putting this line back to the right area, and there wasn't a sneaky fifth wheel brake I was forgetting about

If you run this through the de-sexistamatranslatorer it comes out as "Hi, welcome to the forums with your first post. I have noticed you are female. Good day to you." Unfortunately the de-sexistamatranslator is broken at the moment, please bear with us, your forum viewing will return to normal shortly. Haven't seen the car around, will need to keep an eye out now. Oh, and welcome to the forums, too

Hey guys Thanks for the feedback, wasn't sure on SI but reading the regulations last night where it basically yelled "RALLY" every second word I'm even less sure I could use this for what I want... Does anyone know of anyone who actually has SI on something that isn't raced in actual rally's? Burgz32 is your car SI plated? The cage is CAMS spec, and should be fine for any inspections as far as I'm aware. Towing isn't too much of an issue, and if I head up to symmons or further I would be towing it, but I would jump at the chance of registration if possible as getting a trailer to take it from/to a mechanics or spur of the moment track days could be a complete pain. That being said, I don't want to jump through all the hoops to get it registered (and spend a heap of money doing it) and then be told at the last moment that it wont pass because of something I'm definitely not changing (i.e. the cage). I hope to get it to the track as soon as possible, I want to work out what actually needs to be improved before spending much money on it. Timing all depends on my mechanic as I don't trust myself to plug it all back in in the right order. Although it looks simple as pie, I've heard of enough DIY jobs blowing up engines that it has put me off that part at least. Hopefully sometime in the next two months, I have money sitting here ready to be spent on it, I'm just waiting on people now. Found something interesting with the tonight, when I bought the car the clutch pedal had literally no resistance. With my limited knowledge I've been looking into random bits and pieces on the car that I know wont screw anything up, so had a quick look at this. After poking around in the engine bay for a bit I jumped under the car and moved the clutch pedal myself, and was rewarded with a spray of oil right next to my head. After looking around trying to work out where the hell it was coming from I realised that it was coming from right up near the clutch fluid reservoir, and that the line which runs down to the clutch had actually been unscrewed and was just flopping around up there. That isn't the interesting part, the interesting part is that I had noticed what appeared to be the bottom of a loose braided brake line while I was under the car. This brake line had been screwed into the bottom of the clutch fluid reservoir and was just hanging there. I swapped the lines back over and the splurting of fluid has stopped, and the brake line is off the car. Anyone have any idea why this would be there?? I can't think of any logical reason, but there's always the possibility I'm an idiot. I double checked the brake lines and they're all the same braided lines, so I'm not sure what a fifth would be used for?

Hey guys Took delivery of a new 1989 gts-t R32 skyline on Saturday afternoon which I've been looking into over the last few weeks, and zoidbergmerc kind of talked me into the idea of putting up a build thread. The guy who I bought it off (Ray, probably known by some of you) had spent a chunk of money on the car before running into a few issues and the car never being finished, it has been sitting around for the past two years or so and he finally decided to sell. It has most of the parts which I would normally look at putting in my own car, luckily someone else footed the bill for buying/installing it all The car is currently not running, and it ran out of rego several years ago. My mechanic seems to think getting SI rego is a possibility, I have no idea about this but SI would be fantastic to avoid towing it everywhere (anyone on here have any idea what would be required for this?) The idea of the car is to get into more hill climbs, time trials, motorkhana and as many track days as possible. Maybe in a few years getting into super series once I have gotten my skills up to a decent level and the car is stable. Hoping for a decent chunk of midrange torque to help around the track, not overly interested in peak output figures, but we'll see how the tuning goes for the car. Really interested to hear input from you guys, possible weak points, tips and thoughts. I have no idea what I'm doing, so if it sounds stupid there's a high likelihood it is This is a learning experience and as I find things out I'll post back here for the expansion of the internetz. I hereby retract my offer of help. Your goat is outside my area of expertise. Go somewhere like here http://www.yellowpages.com.au/tas/kingston/kingborough-exhausts-12099199-listing.html
-
You weren't meant to notice that part... I was just waking up. Interesting fact of the day, I'm changing my exhaust over tonight.
-
I have no idea how difficult this would be in an m35 but I change the r33's exhaust over about once a month and am a self maintenance newb. I have a track exhaust which gets shoved on and then I have my stock one for normal driving, keeps the neighbours/police/wife happy Prop her up on some axle stands and have a good look how difficult it is, if it doesn't have a robotic goat under there bleating at you about safe sex you're probably going to enjoy doing it yourself. I'd be keen to help out (goat aside) if you want a hand, and I'm sure I can volunteer another few people off here too

The camera was bought in the Jurassic period, and has degraded since then so the (auto) focus was taking ~5 seconds (I kid ye not). I was mostly trying to get some shots of the little 504 for Angus so you're all pretty much an after thought There's more in his camera, but I only spent like 5 minutes takin' pictures http://www.dropbox.c...1-2012?h=11262b

I'm doing the underpowered, take it easy dance of awesome. You love it.

What an arse, great looking car. I'll keep an eye out

Yeah turned out to be a really good day for it, dried out really early and the track warmed up nicely Car felt good with new a1RM pads, exhaust, and slightly higher boost levels. Had the first small issue with my car from track use, blew half the exhaust manifold gasket out toward the end of the day. For 5 track days I'm pretty happy with such a small problem, same set of tyres as when I started too
