I dunno, I wouldn't go to watch the football no matter where it is... I always hear this about Burnie etc, but having grown up in the north east and now living in the south I always think about the people in Huonville and Sorell when these sort of arguments are brought up About half of Tasmania's population lives in greater Hobart, and more than half in the south overall, so it's a fair statement to make

They're here. I'm not racing, but it's still worth going along (and there is generally a couple of karts for sale if you're interested)
-
Done easy over the 1k mark now

I might be going out to one of the monthly kart meetups on Sunday. Heap of people, heap of races, good spectator sport and worth a look if you're about These aren't like the indoor karts btw, they max out at ~140 on an average gear, and get to over 100 easily on the tiny little straights the track has if it's raining it's awesome fun too, can't keep them straight and have to drift every corner
-
wow, pretty sure there's a massive story behind that which I don't know...
-
Pretty sure I'd just be a spectator if I went, transporting the car over and whatnot isn't worth enough to me as my stock little R33 isn't really competitive Although you're not sure on prices, will there be a spectator entry fee?

126 days to go? I'm actually very tempted... Nice site too, hard to pull off a black but clean style but get rid of that view counter! so 1995 geocities Use GA or something if you actually want to find that kind of information

Got it in one All the fonts used above are vector based I believe. EDIT ----------- Deleted rant, good example of this is here.

That's good man, getting the ideas out there is exactly what we need at this point. I like the fact that people aren't competing to create the best logo and are actually attempting to help each other, pretty damned rare to find This is a very good point, images like this don't scale well and this is something which will need to be considered in future. For a good example look at Drifting Tasmania's logo, as pretty as the road is it's not scalable and often you find it blurred, jagged edges out and even in this small size you can see artifacts throughout the image. The colours and gradients used in the text have been set in this image from the beginning, and the original file lost (to the best of my knowledge at least) so they also have issues when blown up to any size greater than what you see there. This is a good logo, and the drifting scene is known by it, but I believe it has restricted their design choices after creation. It's the same with the Labella car designs, they're eye catching and a good design, but I can't look at them without my mind screaming PIXELS PIXELS PIXELS because of the huge amount the design has been blown up to just fit on the car </ Rant> In my personal opinion the logo needs to be clean, with strong but simple fonts, which will scale properly This is far harder than it sounds and very vague, but it is definitely worth it in the long run as everything will be based off this initial design. It's been a couple of years since I've taken up the photoshop brush in anger, and I was never overly comfortable designing branding logo's, but I'll take a stab at tweaking a few designs or making some of my own in the next couple of days. I think we can get a pretty damned good logo here, maybe the best! (In all honesty, no offence meant, but the look of the QLD and SA logo's make me gag a little ) Jay

Sorry, even though I know this is just a typo, the idiot in me wants to point out the saying is you get some "Peace of mind" Would be up for adding a hand in this but unfortunately not driving up to Launceston anytime around then, sorry mate Good luck with it!

+1 on this, though the 'Tasmania' could be a little lighter (font wise, not colour) so that it fits nicely without taking over too much if anyone has an idea but no image editing software, get it up here even if it's hand drawn and scanned. If it's a good design someone will take it through the process to smex it up a bit At first I thought this marketing seemed like a bit of a weird first step, but this kind of stuff can make or break this club from the beginning because of how people will perceive us. Very important to get this perfect from the start

Sounds like my kind of skidpan, go for it

Sau Affiliation, Club, Stickers, Branding Info
Clandestine replied to grandmasterb's topic in Tasmania
Has there been any forward movement on this? I'm interested to see what information you are able to find and what possibilities are available -
Got some wire cutters or something? Doesn't look like a goer from the responses on that thread

Oh, if you're in the north of the state, drop by these threads as Anthony is in the south. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/362598-wrecking-r33-skyline/page__hl__broomhall http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/348219-wrecking-s1-r33/page__hl__wrecking+r33 They both still have a fair bit of the interior I believe

Hey mate, check out http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/366201-wrecking-r33-skyline-gts-t/ last I heard he had what you need

+1 for most epic list of opinions this month

Wow, that front bar definitely matches the skirts! (sarcasm intended)

Holy baby jesus, mate that's horrific... I'd offer other help if you weren't a 3 hour drive away, but will be digging into my (rather shallow) pockets for what I can get you. Hopefully a heap of other people do the same Perhaps we could organise a working bee or something to help out putting a shed back up, or... something? I always feel like shit when I see peoples cars being stolen and burnt out, but three at once?! That's too damned much.

+1 on this, heard bits and pieces but don't know the full story

As he's not on here often, it's Hobart area

I think I read that the HPX's aren't being sold by people in preference for a slightly more expensive but much better pad? I had a good look into QFM AR1M's when Jack recommended them ages ago, and I couldn't find anything but absolutely positive results, especially for the price. Very tempted to try them out myself later on This is the email I got from GSL Rally Sport (sales@gslrallysport.com) when I was enquiring about them for my R33 earlier on in the year. -------- A1RM to suit your car are $119 per set front or rear. Shipping is free when you order front and rear together, so all up for the whole car would be $238 delivered. A1RM is the pad we recommend for a mix of both street and track work. Easiest way to order is credit card over the phone, 1300 884 836, or else swing me your delivery address (preferably a work or business address!!) and contact number and I can fire you through an invoice with direct deposit details. -------- Jay

Something that threw me for a while was the helmet standard, basically any motorbike helmet with the silver sticker of awesome is fine The membership pays for itself in a couple of track days, but with a new membership and usage of baski for a day it is $150 all up, and just $80 each day afterward, which is awesomely cheap. This may not be the place to mention it, but I'm keen to try out symmons plains at some point, so maybe we should attempt another poll or something? Would be good if this could turn into a full state thing, rather than just southerners getting the upper hand each time (that being said I do like baski as a track more )

I've got some (very good) professional designer friends from work, I'll see if they have some spare time for this logo. Though I think that will be the least of our problems
