I highly doubt the RB box would hold up long at all with the torque the LS motors will be putting out and doubt fitting up an LS gearbox to the 4wd GTR drivetrain would be very easy at all

R33, Stock, ~$2k To Spend.
Marcus89 replied to HtwCHACtkh's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Don't bother with boost controller until you have a exhaust as has been said. Nistune is not big $$ either from all account it's $1000 drive in get installed and tuned up that is not expensive at all considering what it does for the car. If your really set on it then get the leather retrim and the tint but also get a turbo back exhaust and then save up for a boost gauge and nistune -
i love these probably one of my ultimate fairly affordable dream cars. Not sure how much extra power can be achieved since they seemed to be tuned fairly heavily but that high revving 3.2l 6 cylinder sounds so good

is an evo9 really an upgrade on a r34 GTR? I guess it depends on what OP is looking for. What about something like a 370z? Although the question still stands is it really an upgrade on the r34 GTR

No way an GT would beat a GT-T under regular circumstances. I'm betting his was a GT maybe with GT-T badging on it

Silvia's aren't exactly the best handling cars around. I thought the mr2 would have done better and would of been interesting if the impreza could of overtaken if it hadn't stuffed up like that. Very interesting to see how well they ran but and to what extent they actually tune the factory suspension.

If you don't mind toyota a 1uzfe is also an option. Theres a guy on coast i think goldy not sunshine coast and hes got one in a 180sx. Can't find the build thread but here's a vid sounds fair awesome Although i agree the LS motor is probably the best option

lol the first 3 pages of this thread went to shit had to keep skipping stuff and trying to sort through the real information and girly whinging. As people have said the Honda's are very good cars. Really if you do the basic power upgrades to a honda you will have plenty of useable power for the street (keyword being useable). Even for the track the power will be enough too keep up with the heavier but much more powerful cars. I looked at them for a while but was put off that they were slower (straight line) than a lot of other cars in the price range while still being stupidly expensive on insurance. After i sell my r34 i'll probably look at hot hatches but something more along the lines of xr5 turbo, Golf GTi ect..

lol obviously didn't read the jjr vs splitfire thread with all the people with JJRs getting failures after a year

Are you trading your card for the slower card plus cash or just seeing if someone can hook you up free?

Power Drop In Rb25det?
Marcus89 replied to ScreamerNewbie's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Did it sound weird/different? If it drops a cylinder usually starts sounding like a rex and running kinda rough -
What Is The Difference Between Gt-r And Gt-t
Marcus89 replied to damainevent's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)

Shocks Affected By Cold Temperatures
Marcus89 replied to Marcus89's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Only bought hte car fairly recently so nah haven't. Seems really strange my old s13 had stock shocks and was many years older and they worked fine i guess ill just have to look at the shocks see if i can see leaking or something -
that sounds like gearbox/engine mounts to me which makes no sense as they usually take a while to give up
-
nothing wrong with red as such biggest issue i have with it is if it starts to fade you get yourself a pink car lol. As has been said wait till you find one with everything you want or go for the one your most happy with otherwise
-
i was badly torn between both and you will find heaps of threads around of the same kind of thing. I test drove a few jap spec s15's one with a bit of work i.e. exhaust, front mount and boost controller. And they were definitely quick and fun to drive. They feel much lighter through the corners although i reckon the r34 actually handles better. R34 Brakes are far superior and the gearbox craps all over the s15's. Looks i'd go for the s15. Main reason i went r34 is i could get a decently late model for a cheaper price than i could s15s and yet the r34 is a more expensive car new. So value for money had me buying a r34 although i do have a soft spot for s15's

Hey all, The last couple days it's been getting fairly cold in the mornings and i have noticed that my r34 (standard suspension all round) seems to have a really bumpy ride like i have lowered/harder suspension in there. When i come home from work in the arvo or midday it all works fine only in this colder time in the morning. Could this be a sign of the shocks going out or is this just something that happens? Ride comfort isn't adversely affected just seems bouncy like stuffed shocks would likely ride (at least i think never driven a car with stuffed shocks).

Wow i find that interesting i always thought more throttle in a higher gear was worst for economy as the car is struggling more ect. might have to give it a go although wouldn't it be more likely to hit boost and use more fuel then?
-
That's awesome as what you have is exactly what i am aiming for with mods now i know what to look forward too although i doubt my fuel economy will get much better than 13/14L/100km as i do a lot of short distance travels where it is in cold start
-
dunno how long ago the update was done as never really play the game but have heard the servers are now all region based so instead of always getting red connection everyone has good which i'd say is several times better as that's a big thing that made me quit. That and the super nerds spamming overly powerful weapons

clear the huge brakes they have?

Mitsubishi Electric Car Just Landed.
Marcus89 replied to Kujotk's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Basically the way i see it is for the best chance of a sustainable future is to start getting out power from a renewable resource in the first place then anything is viable. ATM things like desalination plants for water are not worthwhile due to the fact that we are still using fossil fuels. Nuclear plants do not release many toxins when actually producing power but the by products have a half-life of up to 100 years and where are they gonna store all the nuclear waste. Who wants to have a nuclear waste dump in any kind of vicinity to them noone. So then they would need to carry the waste to a far off area to dispose of the waste which uses fuel which causes emissions (unless of course they are using a alternative fuel). Now after all the waste is dumped it can't just be left it is going to have to monitored often to make sure there is leaks and have checks to see levels of radioactivity left and it doesn't add up to being cheap. -

What i mean by electric cars not being viable would be on an environmental scale when taking into account the amount of cars that will be running these vehicles especially with developing countries such as china and india who have massive populations in comparison to Australias. Now global warming is not guaranteed to be linked to pollution although there is alot of information that points to this being fact. So if every car in the world were to be electric and these were powered from coal and nuclear power (remember to take in a full life cycle analysis of both which makes nuclear and coal power just as bad as eachother albiet in different ways) then the environmental cost would become phenomenal. Hydrogen is a very viable form of energy but a safe way of releasing the hydrogen to needs to be found. This car here seems to have a good idea: http://www.hydrogencarinfo.com/scorpionhydrogencar.html. Around 170km/10l is fairly good efficiency although an issue that needs to be taken into account is the creation of the fuel cells could cost far too much or be made of dangerous/hazardous materials which then would counter the benefits of the vehicle. No one type of alternative fuel can really be written of altogether and they all have their pro's and cons the real thing that is needed is the backing of big brand companies to get a particular type going and public support of the vehicle in the form of good sales and all of a sudden that will be the next big thing. Just have to wait and see. -
So the car started running badly and you kept on pushing it? You could try to get the old fuel out and put in some 98ron from the closest servo. Another option is octane booster although have heard bad things about it and wouldn't use it personally

Electric vehicles are not viable until our power is completely or predominantly sourced from renewable resources i.e. wind, solar, hydro. Ethanol can be used and does produce fewer emissions but how big an area is required for all the crops to make then ethanol? What about food production if you think driving somewhere is more important than eating then there would be something wrong with you. Hydrogen powered vehicles would be the best option in my opinion unless, as stated, electricity can originally be sourced from clean power sources for electric vehicles.
