  1. Thanks Ryan, I appreciate it and must apologise for the trouble. Work and birthdays must take precedence
  2. Is it too late to cancel and get a refund? (Reade Clouston + Jimmy Wong)
  3. Tyrepower up in Essendon (??? or one of those NW suburbs) is frequently mentioned on here.

    Bird Issue

Bitter agent might work. We bought it from the vet to spray on my dog's wounds after an operation so he wouldn't pick on the stitches. I accidentally got some in my face and it tastes RANK. We have also sprayed it on furniture after he started biting the leather couch and it didn't discolour anything.... perhaps try it on something inconspicuous first like on your tyre sidewall before you put it on your sunroof rubber. In any case the rubber's already chewed so you got nothing to lose if you discolour it...
  5. I wouldn't worry, they likely would have given chase if they wanted to nab you, and at that speed they definitely would have given chase. Chances are they didn't check your speed and they were distracted with something else. Generally they would monitor both lanes in the direction they are monitoring.
  6. Good call JRM. Eg. I have used RACV's own smash repair shop due to the "lifetime guarantee" and I swear they did not do any surface prep or use primer on the new panels because the clear coat came right off when I used the high pressure water jet at the carwash, only a year later. I didn't bother going back as it was just a small area; just did a dodgy DIY patch up fix to seal the area. 2 years later the rest of the clear coat on all the repaired panels all cracked and started peeling off. I didn't bother going back, ended up selling the car when someone wanted to buy it and do a full respray. IMHO do it right first time (choose your own, good repairer), and you will need no warranty. I think someone mentioned here that Famous offer your choice of repairer. May be worth looking into if Shannons won't take you.
  7. They are building apartments now with NO allocated car space as well, and they are selling like hotcakes. I know where I would not be living, I'd rather live in my car than have to park on the street
  8. Exact reason why I switched from AAMI (which is same underwriter as JC) to Shannons this year. It's costing me 30% more on the premium, but the discount I get for having a CAMS license, pays for the license and my SAU membership. Bargain Plus it doesn't cost extra to pay by the month. Finally I no longer have to pay yearly insurance and rego in the same month
  9. Call me paranoid but I already look ahead at pedestrian overpass bridges, to spot the little f**kers if they are up to no good. I wouldn't be surprised if the people doing these types of things are (literally) mentally retarded. I mean there are pranks and then there is gross negligence.
  10. Damn Al I thought great, here's one where you'll be driving again! Didn't you get it back from the panel shop only recently?
  11. More money than sense. Big time!
  12. Shit it's going to be a tricky one for insurance.... who pays for what?!
  13. In my old car the weirdest shit would happen, I would always have orange peel and bits of vegetables in this little area above the gearbox. I clean all of it out, it comes back again in a few days! Turns out it must have been mice taking scraps from the compost bin and setting up a nest in my engine bay! Luckily they didn't cause any damage.
  14. I'm pretty sure the answer is no. It would put out the timing of the day's events since the venue is only hired until a strict closing time. The insurance is probably limited to 50 participants as well. Just go on reserves.
  15. +1 on the course layouts a great variety of sweepers and tight 180s. The mini wang should be called medium wang now
  16. Don't stress Josh you are first on the reserves and almost at every DECA there will be a minimum of 3-5 people dropping out in the weeks leading up to the event. Always good to see a variety of cars as well
  17. Wow only one R34 this time... where are all the 34GTR this time; it may just rain (for the first time at DECA?)
  18. I only have one thing to say: COWABUNGA DUDES!!!

    A Warning To All.

A few things I have also learnt through various mishaps: 1) If in a rush the only place to never try and save time is getting the car off and back onto the ground. (crushed a power steering steel hose when jack slipped off crossmember. On boxing day, with shops closed for another 4 days). 2) Like Rchoo said, if you don't feel safe under the car then GTFO. Either that or you will probably make mistakes because you are so nervous. 3) Working with poor lighting, foggy head, hangover etc. You will make mistakes. Reschedule for another day. 4) Not having proper tools for the job. Make sure you have alternative transport to go to the shops I am guilty of all 4 and only managed to damage the car and make the entire job more costly and lengthier. No more shortcuts hereon I don't want to end up like the poor guy on the news...

    Need Help!

As suggested, use a tiny bit of engine oil as lube. I use WD40 on rubber exhaust hanger mounts but prob don't want any of that getting into your intake manifold.

    A Warning To All.

"Sergeant Geoff Exton says the man's wife was in the car at the time of the accident. " that is absolutely terrible I built some of those timber ramps (sleepers stacked on top of each other so they are like steps). It inspires much more confidence than any jack stand or spare tyre, especially when using the big breaker bar when the car sometimes sways side to side).
  22. I've always been happy with Advance Tyres in Richmond/Burnley. Always great prices, service, they even wash your wheels which is a rarity these days. Every time I go there it's always full of imports.
  23. love it how quickly the sau community pulls together for stuff like this
  24. Went to Sandown today, running A1RM front and HPX rear, TRW600F fluid, stock discs front and rear. My tyres are overheating before the brakes. Even then the fluid is overheating before the pads. They are phenomenal I was able to pull up hard after the long straights for 2 hot laps before I had to back off because the tyres were squirming. Since 90% of my driving is daily, and most of track time is motorkhanas and other relatively low speed work I'm going to change over to HPX some soonish so i don't chew up my rotors so bad. I'll keep the A1RM on the spares shelf for when I do hit the high speed events.
