A Wobble In The Rear End
daywalker05 replied to daywalker05's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
it didn't seem like it had any movement, but I didn't pull it all the way off to check. had to get more tools from the ute and wasn't overly keen that arvo. thought id ask a question first before ripping it apart. but I do plan on pulling the tie rod off so I can check the ball joint for movement and then the actual shaft into the rack. -
Hi Guys Recently just got my car back, 95 r33 gtr vspec. was getting eflex and tune after couple new parts. Driving home I was getting a bit of a sway or wobble in the rear, felt like the rear. normally I like a little bit of wobble but not on the car haha. So took it easy it was only when I went over a rise or bit of a bump in a dip. Ive had shot suspension before and definitely didn't feel like that. So checked all wheel nuts when I got home, all good and tight. went down to pump up tires as they were a little low, 15psi then what I would usually have them. went for a drive felt good. gave it a little and the wobble was back. Pulled over and had a quick look under. all nuts and bolts where there and seemed good. Got home and jacked it up, gave it a once over. Found that I could move the passenger side wheel to the left and right, well left and back again, about 2mm or so. Driver side is all tight no movement. The movement seems to be coming form the join at the steering rack. The tie rod doesn't have movement anywhere. My questions are, am I right in assuming that there should be no movement at all, and this is what could be giving me the "wobble". if so, are there any bushes I can replace rather then the rack itself, as the exploded diagram from Nissan doesn't have anything apart from rack, and the tie rods, covers and what not. or an over haul kit or something of the like. Has anyone else had an issue like this and should I just put a hicas lock bar in as most likely cheaper. Also is it just a simple job as the 33 is elec rather then the hydraulic one on the 32s. thanks for any help you guys can offer. any pics also to reference would be appreciated. I have attached the view Nissan sent me. cheers guys image2015-08-24-121100.pdf

damn straight cal. haha.

welcome alan, its always a slow process mate, haha. but you will get there. ive had my gtr near on ten years now, motor was first thing to be done, and just last year was all the cosmetics. slowly tickering with things. most people will be able to help on this forum if you have any questions.
-
so what's been happening with everyone of late?
-
yeah ive cut it up a bit. id do it only if u needed some more air, apart from that to much measuring lol
-
yeah ive never had a problem with shrouds refitting.. I just broke mine lol. but that's good it all fits sweet. its a pain when it doesn't. get some n1 slots. although depends bow big intercooler is, that will give some extra air through it
-
nice. I gotta find another shroud. one day.. or make something so I don't get fingers hit lol
-
did you get a ali rad or just another stock one. and I might head out, will see when I finish work
-
lol. I wanted it to look half like it was ment to be there. other it would be silicone and tekies lol
-
yeah I wanted to keep all bracing, I thought that's where the issues lie, in cutting or modifying the bracing. but if you can cut holes out in between or even a sheet, as in a square the size of the z tune vents and fibre glass it in, keeping all bracing there wasn't much of an issue. hoping. if I can find a carbon fibre z tune vent that is.
-
Chasing a z tune vent whether off a damaged bonnet or one of the single pieces you could buy. So long as the vents arent damaged in way im looking to buy one.
-
anyone see any draw back to putting a couple of the carbon fibre r35 gtr vents on a stock bonnet.. maybe see about a ztune vent in the middle aswell.. just maybe.. ztune only if it can be done legally..
-
Im chasing a standard bonnet for a r33 gtr vspec to be exact, pretty sure they are all the same. white preferable, but doesn't matter on colour. close to mackay region, but may be able to get it shipped. let me know a price and location if you do. thanks

sime1, post 5000, is that a spelling mistake. "every component helps separate this example from its taxi lineage just that little but further" the underlined but, should it read "bit". congrats on making the mag also.
