  1. Yeah makes sense. How would the nistune benefit my setup etc...? help run the 10psi better? less boost spikes... better air/fuel mixtures?? i will pass on the pump now : ) is a better fuel pump only really needed for higher boost like 12 etc? im stick with 10 as its stock turbo.
  2. Hey peeps! some of you may know ive been looking at getting work done on my r34 gt-t.... well its had work done!!! but... the last part has got me puzzled. Ok this is whats in at the moment: 3" full turbo back exhaust (high flow cat/muffler full custom) Splitfire coilpacks 10psi set bleed tee Stealth FMIC minor service & iradium spark plugs high flow impul panel filter Now i had a call from my tuner today asking me if i wanted to refund the bosch fuel pump we where going to put in as the mechanic says my stock one is in good condition & putting in a bosch will just increase my fuel consumption.... with no real gain. So yeah fine i said yeah dont worry about it and put the car on the dyno and tune it with the stock pump/ecu set it to 10psi and ill pick it up tomorrow. Now i was/am thinking of getting a NISTUNE chip installed/tuned to hopefully reach the 200rwkw mark (not sure what the mods above will get ill find out tomorrow) So! my question is.... do i keep the fuel pump get a nistune done and install the fuel pump?? or refund the pump and just get a nistune chip... or is the chip only really good for A:F ratio tuning which would help if i had the pump in.. my tuner also suggested if i was to go the pump/chip to get injectors but thats just more money Any advise appreciated and ill throw up some pics once i get the car!!!
  3. yeah i agree i just wasnt sure if it was needed for the little power... ive had the car for about 3-4 months now only problems it had was brittle rubber hosing... seem the aussie heat hated the jap style hoses but we fixd all those problems now. Ill get a compression test (yes i know i stuffd up not getting one before i brought the car we did it get tested tho everything but comp test and it was flawless)
  4. Hey peeps! About to get work done on my r34 gt-t. Car is a fresh import (1998 model) first driver in aus... 98650kms Car had its 100,000km service done before i got it and i believe them (can see new oil filter/water pump etc) Going to have its first 5,000 km service when i get the work done. Im not getting much work done... stock > 200rwkw~ My question is... should i get a engine test done before putting money down for more power? IE compression test/leak down test? any advise is appreciated. Cheers!
  5. don't bother... buy a crapbox as your first car & get used to driving on the roads in traffic etc save your money get a job etc... turn 21... buy r34 gt-t go zoooooooom
  6. turbotech sounds good! save me some fuel too Ah, yeah the first 2 times they whent nuts trying to look for something i thought they where looking for a hidden EBC or something...... will the nistune show up? or is it only the fully installed ecu's like the POWER FC they will be able to see. cheers pals : ) (im goin to have to drive to a adelaide cruise )
  7. Hmm ok, ill send him a txt tomorrow and see what he says about the turbotech.. found some info and they all give it ++. As im getting a nistune chip aswell... that will kill any spikes anyway wont it?
  8. Damn it, just as i get settled on everything for the car u guys throw some curve balls Got a link between the 2? i better make sure its what i want before i tell my tuner i changed my mind
  9. Yeah, i told my tuner it needs to look as stock as possible, and hes done the hard yards finding a exhaust/cooler etc but did say the boost tee will give me troubles if they find it... so he said he will ask his mechanic to hide it and paint it black so hopefully they wont find it :< Whats the deal with the cops looking in the passanger door for 10 mins pulling out your door trim etc when they pull you over :S!
  10. i dont mind paying a fine, i just cant lose my car as it is my form transport to work etc...
  11. noo they are totaly muffd! Stutters under boost Engine light / slip light / diff light - Come on and the car goes shutter (mainly when its been raining) Everything points to coil packs, so i figured id get them done with the gear. Thanks for the tip tho
  12. Awesome thanks for the help people! Im happy with my boost tee but thanks for the acuator tip (i have nfi what it is ) so yeah ill ask the installer to hide it and paint it black Yeah the exhaust i think will be the hardest part its also 3" so im guessing when i have to get it tested ill put the stock one back on. Should be coverd then im guessing...? thanks for the reply guys
  13. Hey guys, about to do some work to my car and im wondering if what im about to do is going to cause me much issues.... i know the car does regardless and the 2 times ive been pulld over they go straight to the turbo and start looking in my passanger seat/door trim for things.. im guessing a boost controller... Anyways if yas can just make some suggestions or if you think i will be fairly good with what im going to do let me know (peace of mind ), from what i can tell i should be ok. Also whats the deal if i have to goto the epa or something? can my tuner tune the engine to run fine or is it just a matter of put the stock parts back on :S? im new to the skyline/performance scene so yeah any help is appreciated. thanks! also im in melb vic. 17. check the vin plate under the bonnet, left hand side. Got a 25GT-T badge on it that looks legit? look at the engine cover.... there is plenty of ways also take it for a drive and if it makes u wet when driving then its a r34!
  18. hello all, i have a R34 GT-T 1998 model.. 2 door. some of u probly already posted to my other noob threads but im getting better It is completely stock at the moment and i have a few ideas for it and im in the middle of chasing up quotes etc some of you may of already seen my posts but at this stage i have pretty much made up my mind i just got a few q's to ease my mind a bit before i start blowing some dosh Basicly this is what i have gatherd so far... im still a bit torn between pod/fmic as the gtt already has a smic good for 200rwkw and thats all i want... i think the only reason i could justify spending the extra money is if im not going to reach my goal with my stock cooler and pod then i can go for a fmic and a performance filter in my box. Also do brands play a part in anything as i have nfi on brands or what to use... and i like the 3" exhaust but if i go 3" all the way it may be too loud but i dont want to restrict flow? im going to contact my tuner today and ring around for pricing so yeh i guess the more info i have the better... is there any advise you guys recommend before contacting shops? Here is a list of what i have in mind so far. Nissan R34 GT-T 1998 White Engine/Performance: 200Rwkw Goal. Stage 1: Engine test before any mods. & Dyno run Sparkplugs/Coilpacks: Replace with new Spitfires/yellow jackets? & Japanese performance spark plugs (ngk irradiums?) Exhaust: Full exhaust, Dump pipe 3" open bell mouth, 3" high flow cat(info) 3" Back end high flow muffler (Bigger size cat?) (twin tip) dont want it too loud but still want a nice sound no droning sound etc.. Intake: Pod style air filter, heat shield, cold air intake (use the stock one?) or new front mount cooler. Stage 2: Boost increase: Electronic boost controller 10psi constant, remove 2 stage controller. Ecu/Tune : Nistune software. (dont need to spend big $ for the power i want) Exterior/Interior - Main WHITE - with colour coded dark/black colours. 18" Shadow Chrome/Black Rims (like the 34 gtr rims too expensive.) buddy style rims? Front Bumper/Lip: Like the black lip on the bottom of the GTR - series 2 front with lip. Boost gauge replaced with psi reading boost gauge / replace all gauges. Pedals: Series 2 style pedals. New gear shift nob: (stock one is slightly loose in set position) Suspension: 1" lower after rims are put on possible coilovers? (like how car is handling at the moment just want to lower it) Brakes: performance brake pads/calipers - to match colour code Rear wing: Carbon fiber tipping. "on sides of wing and where wing is mounted" Purchased / Installed Sound System: Alpine SPE17CS 6.5" 210watt & Tweeter fronts $140 Pioneer TSA1673s 6.0" 220Watt Rears $100 Pioneer DEH-4150SD 4-channel high power wma/mp3/aac/cd receiver with usb direct ^ built in sd head unit. $280
  19. Oh dear... having far to much fun today.... 3 points lost the copper was a absolute douche too i had a fairly good reason to be driving fast as i was trying to do the right thing at the time lol.. didnt want a bar of it just said pop the bonet and says "what mods do you have" i was honest and nice and he gave me a ticket i even said have a good day pal and he just grunted lol.
  20. your not wrong, top bunch of guys very laid back. I probly forgot to mention before.... part of the deal me buying the car was they where to do a full service on the car.. so yeh its been done havent had any of the lights come on today been driving heaps... cant help it hehe but petrol is getting nasty . From what the dealer said they can come on randomly if it does a small missfire they automaticly come on... could be a sign of the coilpacks wearing ill most likely get them replaced with good ones when i do some performance work. *Boost gauge fixed!* you where spot on dude, first thing i did in the morning was check that hose and it was barely on there was a split at the end that connects to that black box, i chopd it and put it back on works like a dream. Thanks heaps for that saved me been a noob and going to a garage . Also noticed it likes to boost a fair bit in the cold was rather fun driving home altho i was granny driving... not ready for the wet yet . Fair sure i have a speeding fine already its god damn too hard to resist :\.
  21. hey awesome thanks alot mac, ill ahve to try it in the morning getting a bit dark atm but i will let you know thanks heaps for the advise i guess because recently its been 35+ and ive driven it heaps the engine has gotten hotter than what its used to and the hose was already brittle and hte heat just made it crack or some shit...... its strange because it was probly the 3rd time its been driven here lol ill sus it out before i head to the tuners : )
  22. thats what im saying... im probly not saying it properly lol. it DID go into negative like your all saying but ever since we drove it back and its been hot and me non stop driving etc, it STAYS on 0 and moves a little bit as i give it gas. as soon as ignition is turnd on it jumps to 0 then as i get up in the rpm i can see it move its hard to see tho. any ideas ? oh and my dealer taught me how to look out for the dreaded coilpacks... ive had the tcs/slip/engine lights come on twice now just as im driving along, he said that would happen as they missfire. Does this sound like my coilpacks are about to go? it is up to 82,000 dont think they have been replaced.
  23. haha how awesome is it? so funny the frequency only goes up to 90.00 so icant get any of the local stations except for 89.9 which is light fm (Christian channel) spent most of today as im on holidays from work for 2 weeks cleaning the car.... got some random stickers in jap on it, there is a big one on the right back bumper which wont come off and i dont want to do to much as i may damage it... over the next few weeks im goin to be driving around talking to performance shops cos im going to be getting all my work done by a professional spent to much money for me to install something and stuff the car so much fun to drive i freakin love it and so clean first thing first is to fine me a mp3 player and some decent speakers and fine me a tuner! RE customs seems decent and i live in rowville so kinda local...
  24. it is rather annoying at times.... i stalld it and the timer kickd it had 2 minutes on the clock i kept driving and it cut the car out half way up the road lol
  25. One thing i have noticed which im not really sure about as this is my first turbo/skyline car When we first drove the car back from the dealer the far right gauge (boost) was bouncing everywhere it whent into the negative with clutch in and whent up as u gave it more... now as u can see via the picture on idle it sits in the 0 when i go it goes up a bit but it never gets below 0.... is that because it has warmd up and ive been driving lots?
