They are the Nissan eggheads in Syd who know everything about everything. The department is just called Techline. -
V36 Rev Probs, Firmware Update Anyone?
awsam replied to awsam's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Nissan plug your car into their comp, and someone at TechLine in Syd applies and configures the update. Nissan does not provide this update file to it's service centers, remote only. Innitially I was told they would have the file in hand, but there was no warranty or guarantee my car would even start. I guess someone a little higher up decided that was probably going to get them into trouble. The ECU still learns, and power is very slightly reduced. Today in this lovely Adelaide rain I also discovered the anti slip is not as full on -
V36 Rev Probs, Firmware Update Anyone?
awsam replied to awsam's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
No clue what the patch notes are, the infiniti site might have some info on it. I know there were two seperate updates consolidated into one, a ECU update and a Transmission update. The latter specifically for hard up/down shifts. My issue was subtle for months, like you describe a very small bite. It eventually escalated. Nissan GTR centers will have the update done remotely for you. My pv36 is yet to have any problems since updating. -

That exhaust is nuts, i'd love it on my v36! I'm in a similar position, need new front brakes and was contemplating getting the rotor glaze machined off or just getting new ones. -
Anyone Have Or (Had) A Black Car... Good Or Bad?
awsam replied to Black Dog's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Black on the V36 is super delicate. All my door handles are completely scratched up. Looks like a cat had a fight with it. And it goes glossy clean to faded & dirty within an hour lol. I'll never go black again -
New Remote/key Combo Quoted $450 Adelaide
awsam replied to MikeMcL's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I've posted this before, but will throw this info back out there. I went to Main North Nissan in SA, and they couldn't code my new key. They kept using the 350Z program. Turns out the V36 needs the Nissan Micra key code program to work. I got lucky as a staff member was in the middle of importing a V36 and followed it up out of his own interest and got mine sorted. $300, fob, code, cut. -
V36 Rev Probs, Firmware Update Anyone?
awsam replied to awsam's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
My problems have only been with acceleration. I did have what you might call a lurching problem due to rough down shifts, felts like it was shifting down at high rev's, and the lower gear was given too much power. But it never altered my speed or made it difficult to control. It was more of a single jolt which it would also do when accelerating after letting the car roll for a bit. For me after updating, that problem is mostly gone. Perhaps your problem is something else. A while back I had a Auto Holden Calibra, i swear this thing was haunted and trying to kill me. I would slow down to stop at lights and it would all of a sudden rev up and send the car off at 80kmph! I ran so many red lights. Turned out it had a blocked Idle Control Switch (little valve controlling air flow during idle) 2 cans of degreaser later and I had purged the demon.. -

V36 Rev Probs, Firmware Update Anyone?
awsam replied to awsam's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
You'd have to get your local Nissan GTR dealership to chase it up. Tell them TechLine Aus has the update. If they're confused they can call Josh Kolinac @ Main north nissan South Australia and he can fill them in. Nissan won't give the file out, TechLine won't even give it to the Dealership. They drop the file into a remote workspace and do the work themselves. -
V36 Rev Probs, Firmware Update Anyone?
awsam replied to awsam's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
It's almost been 2 weeks after having the update applied. The car runs 90% better, which for anyone who has the same problem is incredible! The grunt is still mostly there, and the acceleration delay feels 50% reduced. There is no more bucking, hiccups or stuttering. A couple of times i've felt maybe 3 small bucks (like 5% of previous strength) at low gear, but only ever once while driving. There is no more hesitation from a stopped start at all. The anti slip control seems to be less sensitive now also. I highly suggest anyone experiencing my issues with a 2008 V36 sedan have the update applied, even if it's just so you can sell it for more. Main North Nissan charged me $190. If you're in Adelaide, ask for Josh. Andrew Taylor from Infiniti Melbourne was the man who made it all happen, top guy, went above and beyond for no reward other than the gratitude. I'm so happy it's fixed, so incredibly happy. Now we can actually sell it for what it's worth -
V36 Rev Probs, Firmware Update Anyone?
awsam replied to awsam's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Had the update applied today, Nissan changed their mind on supplying an actual copy of the update to the service center, instead Techline did the update & re-tune remotely... Amazing... They road tested about 60km's worth and it came up well. The biggest change I've noticed is take off is now incredibly smooth. Prior to the update, a slight push of the accelerator would often give more speed than intended. This would also happen while the car was rolling. Auto gear changing is now a lot smoother, although going from 3rd to 2nd still noticeably slams in, but NO WHERE near as bad as before. There's no longer a delay going from 2,500rpm to 3,500rpm, prior to the update there would be a 1 second delay for me and then it would rev to 3500 as quick as it could. Now it goes from 2500 - 3500 at the same rate as I push the pedal. I let it sit for a couple of hours tonight and I did notice some very slight bucking (like 10-20rpm) for about 30 seconds. I'm hoping this is as bad as it gets and this isn't a case like others have had, where an ECU resent buys you 1-2 weeks of smoothish driving before it learns your habits and starts bucking/hiccuping again.
