Has this sold? I'm located in Newcastle and am looking for something with some balls (as this seems to have) for around about that sort of money, to replace my gutless (and falling apart) 80's Rolla. thanks Matt

what did you do with the car once you got it back? i think i'd almost be more sad to get it back all bent out of shape, than to never see it again. and yeah, i would agree that you were pretty lucky on that one. unfortunately I've heard that if you don't get it back within about 48 hours then you're likely to not get it back ever.

least you still got yours... wishing i'd come home to find mine unsuccessfully broken into. at least then i could've done something about it. much better situation than an empty car port!

Nah, no news. and I don't expect that there will be either. I'm pretty much putting this car to rest, RIP my beautiful zed... if it appears again and I somehow get it back, that's called a bonus, but i've got about the same odds of winning the lottery

yeah it couldn't have been a more sucky situation eh... guess i'm just about over it now, it's at the point where i've pretty much given up... life goes on... and shit as it can be sometimes, it goes on

yeah, is a nice car pretty bad story really... it didn't have a full security system, i thought it had the stock zed alarm but obviously not, a lot of the zeds came with alarm systems that were designed to go off if someone played around with the wiring or anything like that... unfortunately the 2 other 280's that ive owned have had this feature, and the nice one happened to not have it (i can only assume). problem with these older cars is the wiring can start to play up a bit, so i don't know if that accounted for anything... it's just all the bad variables thrown into one really... wouldn't wish it onto anyone

oh, brycey posted it in here too oops... i posted in the general section... oh well gotta get the word out there i spose... I just talked to the president of the z club in sydney, he's going to alert all his members in case someone tries to flog it off or flog it for parts

well gee thanks guys, I post up this morning that my car has been stolen and I get not 1 response, and it's a NISSAN of all brands... f**k me dead how many cars do i need to have stolen from me before someone around here gives a f**k ok ok i'll settle down now... just think if any of you had your beautiful skyline taken from you, how pissed would you be... that's how i'm feelin...

This is my '83 280zx that I bought from Adelaide only a few months ago. And now I have to sell her :'( I have too many cars and, apart from being called "insane" by just about everyone, I need to sell this one to get one of my other cars rego'd, so off she goes. Very tidy car, nice paint, only a couple of tiny rust spots, car spent its whole life in dry areas (SA, Adelaide), paint is only about 8 years old. 180000km Auto 2+2 (4 seats) p/s, p/m, p/w, a/c need a re-gas blue interior Targa Roof (removable glass panels) 9 months rego new full 2 1/2" exhaust and radiator just put in It actually sits a tad lower than the photos show, I took those photos just after I put those wheels on it and the suspension hadn't settled yet. Engine runs well, pulls quite hard, has been well looked after for its life. Price: $4000 with rims, $3500 with stock (boring) rims. It will be sad to see her go, it's quite a smick car and black 280zx's are quite rare, so I want her to go to a good home. The 280zx's have been seen as more of an obscure zed, a majority of them are ending up rusting away in scrap yards, stripped apart to put in 240z's or 260z's, or are owned by people that just don't take care of them. Hi guys, I have for sale a completely rebuilt rb30 engine and 5 speed. It has professionally serviced head, new seals, gaskets, rings and bearings, new clutch, as well as 5 speed gearbox which is in good nick. Comes with all wiring and computers. Was for a project which has now been abandoned, would hook up great to a big turbo or useful to put an rb25/26 head on. Good for 300+ HP. Looking at $1650, but make me an offer and see if i'm crazy enough to accept. I'm in Newcastle, obviously pick up is preferred. PLUS, if you buy now you can receive absolutely free, an R31 skyline, red in colour, everything included (except front headlights and a couple of other bits and pieces. The engine has been removed, it is the one being sold above. the gearbox was sold, the one above is from a different car, but hooks up to the rb30). Am interested, I need an rb30 and will be rebuilding anyway, however is this the sort of problem that can be cured with a normal rebuild? i don't know enough about it, got a mate that does but he's not around at the moment... Matt

My Red/white plate is coming in a week or so for my 280zx, plate number: ZXD-00M. Can't wait to see it, i'll take some shots and post them online. Matt

beats me, he's one cluey guy, that's for sure. i'm interested to see how it all goes as well. he's got a lot of contacts around newcastle, works for a few different garages/autosport places, has been tinkering with cars since he was a kid. as for the price, it's cheap, i'm hoping it goes cheaper

Ok, latest update for those that are interested. Found out that a guy at my church knows how to drop an rb20det into my car and do all the necessary work involved. Says that it'll be about $4000 all up but he's still looking around to see if we can do it for cheaper. It's looking as though i will get the r31 rb20det and put an rb25 turbo onto it, get a skyline radiator, new gearbox and all electricals, new fuel pump, new engine mounts and gearbox mounts, and not sure what else my mate has in mind, but it sure is looking exciting. will have to keep everyone updated as it happens, and take photos as well. yeah, l28et would slot in nicely but i'm not sure what my chances are of finding one, and even then i dunno if i'd get it for a decent price. Or alternatively, how would i go sticking a turbo on the l28e? difficult? expensive? the engine only has 169,000km on it, so it's probably got plenty more years left on it (i hope) and guys, please, i'm not buying a skyline i love my zed, there's not many on the road and i like it that way.

Hey guys As for the new bits i'll need, i've taken a few of those things into account already, i've got a 2 1/2 " exhaust all the way through, i've priced an engine ($900 with electricals) and g/box ($350), not sure what those other parts will cost. How hard is it to modify the engine mounts? gearbox mounts easy to find and put in? as for getting a skyline, well, a) no cash, B) my car is my child that no skyline could replace (you should know, you're a fellow z driver) Mattrix

Thanks for the replies guys I didn't think it was going to be that complicated, rb25 is out of my budget so if i was going to do anything it'd have to be something a bit cheaper. I'd like to do it the best way that i can first time around but a lot of money just isn't available right now and i'd still like to do something. From what i can gather the performance is up'd by about 150% when going from l28 to rb20, and i heard that the rb20 isn't too hard to fit in... (?) Anyone else able to offer some advice? thanks Matt

Hi guys, i'm going to be attempting in the near future a swap of my l28e in my 280zx to an rb20det and wanted to ask in here a few questions that i have. firstly, how difficult is the conversion? what sort of things will i need for the conversion? is there anything i need to take into account? secondly, i was thinking of selling the rb20 turbo and putting a bigger turbo in, such as an rb25 turbo. Is this possible? also, how much would i be able to a) sell my rb20 turbo for, and B) buy an rb25 turbo for (and where from)? lastly, does anyone know where i can sell my l28e once i've done the swap and approx how much i will get for it? thanks for you help guys Matt
