  1. Like most things it really depends your personal expectations for your car. There are many things that can make a car faster oven a given area of road, assuming that is, that the road is not just a short straight. Straight line acceleration is already pretty well optimised from the factory, so power mods, other than forced induction, return a pretty low bang for your buck & for me quite honestly are not a priority. This really only leaves handling & braking, which in my opinion can be greatly improved which in turn will make your car faster. My personal criteria for the mods I have done revolve around the fact that every 6 weeks or so, I do a 6 hour each way trip to Central West NSW, to visit my ailing parents in-law. I have to be able to do this as quickly, safely & comfortably as possible, in all weather & road conditions. For my purpose, a stock 370gt coupe was quite a good fit, but there was also room for improvement. The handling was reasonable, but to me seemed aimed more toward the luxury side than sport. Personally, it felt unsettled at speed & a bit doughy through the corners. It really didn't inspire confidence to push the car any harder, & when I did the VDC would drive me up the wall. The temporary fix for this was to continually drive with the VDC off. Braking performance (my coupe is an sp & has the Akebono Brakes) was also quite good under normal driving conditions, but when pushed harder did loose some feel, not to the point where it was uncomfortable, but you could feel a loss of performance. After all she's no light weight. The tyres she was wearing when purchased were ok for general street use, but by no means what I consider to be a an excellent all weather high performance road tyre. I feel the mods I have done, have addressed these issues for me. I'm sure everyone has their own take on their own car & may do things differently due to their particular requirements. So this is my list of recommendations, if you have similar requirements of your V36 to myself, it may set you on the path. Firstly Tyres, buy the best tyres you can afford, then spend a bit more, you wont regret it. Tyres tie the whole package together & allow you to get the best from your other mods. Sway Bars, I now have Whiteline adjustable bars front & rear. Best bang for your buck for these cars period. They have transformed the vehicle, the combination of the tyres & bars is absolutely fantastic. The car is now very settled, precise and inspires confidence, it begs to be pushed harder. I have them set soft on the front, medium in the rear which gives good balance with a slight understeer when on the limit. Front Strut Top Brace. Not really a necessity but does deliver a slightly crisper turn in, which I like. Really only noticeable when pushing quite hard. Brake Pads. I'm now running Project Mu NS400's, great initial bite, even when cold. They hold up way better when pushed & are no where near as dusty as oem. That's about it for now, the drive is much more relaxed, I can leave the VDC on which is really handy particularly for this time of the year when the roads out there can become icy in places. So, is my car now faster? In a straight line no, but every where else, absolutely. For me, I also consider it to be safer due to a higher level of predictability & much more pleasurable to drive. Win, win, win. Future mods? Short term, probably rotors & maybe another pad change. Lowering for me is out of the question, due to varied road conditions. May also look into some tuneable shocks. Cheers.
  2. Yahoo Japan, secondhand. It came from here originally. http://model.auto-style.jp/v36coupe/CMS20251150011/ Fit is okay, but not as good as oem. Fixings leave a bit to be desired, but will do the job. Fiberglass, so quite a bit heavier than oem. All in all, fairly typical aftermarket product. Not Bad.
  3. Max, I called you an arsehole because you were rude & arrogant. your post consisted of a collection of condescending assumptions about the op. Thinly veiled insults to myself & then finished by singling out a grammatical error on my behalf in an attempt to belittle me. May I ask your motivation for this, were you trying to demonstrate to everyone here your superior grasp of the English language, or indeed simply being as I so immaturely put it, an arsehole? It seems to me it would be fairly hard to meet your varied demands with just a single post containing a question. Who knows, maybe a second post would have gotten him/her across the line with you. Without knowing the op's personal situation all you are doing is jumping to baseless conclusions. So this is the justification for your abhorrent behavior, you thought you'd teach the op a lesson for his/her own good. Your incorrect, I never called Ben an arsehole, that was directed firmly & squarely at you only & I do apologize for my immaturity & vulgarness now that was for Ben. I assure you I do not live in a bubble of sensitivity, quite the opposite actually. I find it quite interesting that people full of their own self importance see themselves as being responsible to, as you put it, "Give people that nudge in the right direction", its a great universal banner to put over pretty much any insults you dish out & quite a common theme among certain personality types. Look, I'll make it easy for you. You are important, You are intelligent People should seek your approval You wield a very powerful sword here on SAU. Now, please I beg you, try to show just a little patience with newbie posters. Who knows, you could turn out to be great friends.
  4. That's a bit immature Ben, & you are how old? You really seem to be missing the point here. Oh & insulting people, then following it with a smiley face, doesn't make you seem friendly, fyi. It just makes you sound even more condescending
  5. Its quite interesting how you describe yourself there. Do you think that description could possibly fit the op. Unless of course you are the only person on here that this applies to.
  6. Headlights are another thing to be careful of due to being Left Hand Drive. There also seems to be a lot of fairly gimmicky crap for sale in the US too, so it pays to do a bit of research.
  7. Mate, its become like kiddies corner around here. All of the regulars have their own specific criteria they feel posters have to reach. If you fail to meet it you get flamed. They then try to justify their actions with ( insert their version of what they say should have been asked). Then the rest of the morons jump in & perpetuate the whole thing. You see it time & time again. How about a bit of common courtesy? It was the op's first post here & I doubt he'll be back. Who knows what he could have brought to the site in the future. Very disappointing.
  8. All Fixed. Happy with the way it looks now.
  9. Mate, i'm in my 50's & am well aware of the days before the "gosh darned internet" as you put it was around. I've also been on here for 12 years & am well aware of how forums work. Whats wrong with a bit of common courtesy? The OP imo wasn't asking to be spoon fed, he just asked a simple question. The way he was responded to is FKN keyboard warrior syndrome. & as for your smart arse chip on my spelling of reply's, you can kiss my arse. I'll spell it how the f**k I want..
  10. You Guys should take a serious look at yourselves. How dare someone come here & ask a serious question, that he has obviously already looked into. I guess for some, the idea of coming to a Forum to find info they are struggling with deserves Moronic reply's. Doesn't exactly create a friendly environment now does it..
  11. Here's how the installation went. Passenger side first. You will need to remove the Battery cover surround & the lower windscreen cowl cover. The connector is located between the wiring harness & the Popper mechanism Its pretty tight in there & I have fairly big hands so I decided to remove the popper for access Pictured now with the canceler connected Back together & cable tied in position Now The Drivers Side Remove the Brake cover & surround to expose the ABS Unit. The Bonnet popper connection is right behind it. I didn't need to remove the lower windscreen cowl on this side, I just propped it up to allow a bit better access. Shown with the popper disconnected. Canceler fitted All cable tied safely. Everything Back in Place, Job Done.

  13. You've been looking in the Mirror again haven't ya.
  14. Okay, good news. They Fit & work 100%. I ended up buying a set off Ebay to suit R35 GTR, as my mate in Japan let me down unfortunately. Access to the connectors is pretty tricky but totally do-able. With both Bonnet Poppers disconnected & the Cancellers installed there are no check lights on the Dash. I've done around 1500k's with them now, Track only of course & no probs. I'll post up some pics later. Cheers.
  15. Exactly, A lot of good info there hey. Cheers.
  16. Hi Scott, yes I fully understand that. I consider it a track only mod. From what I gather its quickly reversible by just unplugging the modules & re-plugging in the Bonnet poppers (battery disconnected of course, thanks Ben.). The "how to" is just to show people what they need to remove etc to get access to the connectors. I certainly understand where your coming from though. Cheers.
  17. Sure, probably going to be 2/3 weeks before I get the parts & then probably another week to find time to do the job. I'll do a pictorial "how to" if successful, for anyone that might want to do it also. So unfortunately it could be a Month at the outside for a definitive conclusion. So, bear with me if I don't update the thread for a little while, Cheers.
  18. After 3 weeks my modded emblem sh1ts me now. Its just to friggin big. Part of the problem with the hamburger originally was its obese size. I like the idea of the 370gt on the side Bliksem. When I get a chance I'll re-do it as emblem-less & maybe try a side emblem. All good fun. Cheers.
  19. Ok, after a bit more research, I've spoken to a guy in Japan who helps me occasionally bring in Vintage Japanese Electric Guitars which I am a collector of. He says, in Japan they make this for R35 GTR, V36, Y51 & Z34, one part fits all. So as a bit of a favor he's going to source a set locally & send to me. So, I guess I'll be the Guinea Pig. Does sound pretty positive though. Cheers.
  20. Wow, thats really interesting, wasn't aware of this potential issue. Good effort on getting this sussed out. Keep us informed when you fit the new bowls. Cheers
