Ken - you dirty man go get some tissues
Paul - bloody oath I like reassuring when I'm talking about an expensive piece of machinery... never can be too sure
Yeah sorry about that old chap - thanks for all your help again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again, again wise silent Ken...
You're right - but I'm also a very curious bugger!!!
Plus the front one is a piece of cake to change - I'll show you one day if you like young grasshopper:)
...probably wont bother though cos what difference does it make
Yep - no codes, timing presently about 32 deg.
Must admit that after changing the rear knock sensor on the weekend I haven't had any problems from the sensors
*touches wood*
so let's assume that it was faulty - could always put on the front to confirm, but I might get things right first.
Tried it all over the bloody place - could never get the base timing to stay the same.
No complaints about who/where I bought the car - can give you the guy's number if you like;)
Makes me wonder whether there ever was a problem with the knock sensors - who knows as long as it stays away, I don't really care.
Must say I have learnt a lot about the car throughout this process, so that definately makes things worth while (kind of!).
Vspec should be home soon ppl so he will have plenty to talk about as normal
I bet he is hanging out for some posting cos his strike rate will be well down today
Still can't figure out why the reference is out for base timing, but got the CAS at about midpoint which should ba around 20 degrees - no pinging as best we can tell.
Hopefully put the car on a dyno tomorrow to check a couple of things are normal & then if all is good I should be able to put the problems behind me
*crosses fingers*
Well, we think so!!!
Car goes well, nice chirpies on hard changes into 3rd...Pulls well throughout the rev range right up to redline...no pork crackling any more!!!
You will probably find that the injector seal is the source of your leak not the injector itself. Not sure how they are set up on your car but on the RB26 it's an easy job to replace the seal - the seal itself should not cost any more than about $2!!!
Go to a place that just does fuel injection - I would be surpised if it costs you more than $50 to sort out:)
Still need to try the CAS & AFM's - I will test with original parts first to see if the cam timing was the issue.
Starting to get a bit excited now cos I think the end must be getting nearer.
Also a bonus to find aftermarket parts that I don't have to buy - cam gears was on my wish list so now I just need to get the intake one.
