numbers 1 and 2 are no longer valid. Revised options are as follows: 1: Extractors,2.25" piping, resonator, lukey sports exhaust, 2.5" turndown tip. = $1120 2. Extractors ($660 installed), existing 1.75" piping, new resonator, muffler(~$250) + 2.5" turndown tip (~$40). = ~$950 3. Existing manifold, existing 1.75" piping, new resonator, muffler(~$250) + 2.5" turndown tip (~$40)= ~$290 That's my options. I want number 1, but don't want to spend that much so I'm fine with number 2, BUT will it bottleneck at the entrance to 1.75" piping?

One of my brake cylinders in side on of my drums was seized and gave me a hard brake pedal, i thought it was normal until i replaced them and it got much softer. So yeah, check that your callipers are working good

turbos should always be let to idle after they've been driven, im sure gtt is turbo yes?
-
If i turn on headlights, fan etc, my revs go down cause of the added load on the alternator. Check your alternator.

There's no way I'm getting rid of this car, mainly for gazza's reason, that I'll never find one the same condition again. There is another option now added: Extractors to existing 1.75" pipe, (remove existing resonator) to lukey sports exhaust to 2.5" turn-down tip. or should i change pipe to 2"? Check out C210 Exhaust in Classic Skylines for more info.

Quite sure you do need a valid drivers licence

In light of more information I have added a 4th option Extractors to existing 1.75" pipe, (remove existing resonator) to lukey sports exhaust to 2.5" turn-down tip. or should i change pipe to 2"? MAG86: I haven't asked for 2", in my view going up 0.25" of an inch isn't going to do much, or does it?

L24 Making Tappet Noise/click.

I think i might get a new one anyway, cause this ones been in there for 32 years. just keep on the safe side -
Not sure if same for you, but my temp sensor was rusted a lot so it was showing lower temps than normal and would never go over half way. How old is your radiator water? Last flush? As for ticking noise, I can only comment as its happening with my engine currently and I'm not too familiar with RB engines but it could be tappet adjustment (valve clearances) that are out by a little bit. Good luck.

I got new tyres yesterday, balanced and aligned, front and back. after 1 day my steering tremors are back @80km/h, I'm going to change caster and sway bar bushings, cause mine are stuffed and get aligned again and see how that goes. Take a look if your bushings need to be done.

UPDATE: Took car to a recommended mechanic and he said that it was most probably an exhaust manifold leak, which is nowhere near the severity I was thinking of. The story also checks out as NA Goodness knows, the cabin has a strong smell of fumes if one window is open. The fix for this is new exhaust which I'm planning to get anyway. see here :C210 Exhaust. However, your advice has not gone to waste as I will do the tappet adjustment and oil gallery check this weekend, pending on arrival of rocker cover seal from Nissan. Also should I go genuine for seal or after-market? If so where should I call up? Thanks for the help everyone -
I am going to get a better exhaust for my 1978 C210 Skyline (L24) Fully Stock I have the following options: 1. Extractors, 2.25" piping to lukey sports muffler to 2.5" turn-down tip - $970 all supplied and fitted at 1 shop 2. Buy extractors from another place ($440), install myself + $60 Engine Gasket = $500 then take to another shop to do 2.25" piping to sports muffler to 2.5" turn-down tip - $430 = $930 3. 2.25" piping to lukey sports muffler to 2.5" turn-down tip straight off existing engine manifold $400 If I choose option two, there is the chance that the manifold bolts could snap as they haven't been touched in 32 years, is the risk worth it? What would you recommend for me? I have also posted in WA thread.

Socrates replied to Socrates's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
I have a turndown tip exhaust, so the gasses come out towards the ground. It makes a blackish spray mark on on the ground if its left idling for 10min or so. I'm pretty sure its just carbon that's come out with water. -

I went on a trip of around 350km last weekend and about half way (after staying the night/camping), I noticed that the engine was making tappet tapping noises under acceleration. Scenario: drove 150km on highway(100-110kph), then 5km on corrugation limestone road to camp site (30-50kph) and then came out again (and returned) to go shops later on that night and noticed nothing out of the ordinary. Next day: Limestone road (70 - 90kph) then once on bitumen the ticking was noticeable when applying throttle. Also: Engine was low on oil, 5mm under the rough part on dipstick, filled up in the morning before continuing, approx 2L was added. Visited a fellow forum member who noted that the car was smoking when taking off, but I have only noticed smoke on one occasion since then. Specs: 1978 C210 Skyline 4 door L24 motor-Stock Internals Manual Transmission V8 LX torana radiator The tappets are audible when idling at 650rpm, which is all normal for this car. What should I do? I have spoken to a mechanic friend and he suggested that we take the top end apart and check all the oil galleries and rockers/tappets. Is this a good idea first off? Last but not least am I overreacting? thanks for any input.

What was the go with the C210/C211 in terms of Air-conditioning, Power Windows, Mirrors and Steering? My grandparents bought my car in 1978 and according to them it was an extra $1000 for airconditioning. I don't have any of the above features, they are all blanked out. Afaik only the Japanese spec C210/211s came with power windows and mirrors. Was power steering an option back then?

Wanneroo? Barbagallo Raceway in Perth? Didn't think they would bring good stuff to Perth.
