So far for the Galant I have TD05-16G Turbo, Chipped ECU, 055 AFM and Intake Pipe, 720cc injectors, and a Bosch 040 pump all sitting in a box waiting to be fitted. about $1270.00 so far... 17x7's and 215-45's went on a couple of weeks ago $1080.00 from wheels-online off eBay... My suspension was already done when the car arrived but a whiteline rear swaybar would help turn-in, $370ish... Boost controller on the way from Nengun as I type, $417.15... Exhaust also done, but intercooler piping needs to be upgraded to 2 1/2" $450.00 Need a Dump pipe (about) $650 clutch $400ish and a LSD for the rear diff $???? By my calcs that comes to just about $5k without the diff. Put together and driven right that's a recipe for a mid-low 12sec VR4 (ok, maybe not with my stiff suspension) Damn I need that last grand.......

Ran the VR4 down until the fuel light came on and filled up with Ultimate so there could only be abour 1/2 a litre of ethanol left in there... Starting problem fixed... From now on I drink the ethanol courtesy of the Bundy Bear and my car gets straight petrol.

Just make sure you don't fit all those gadgets to your car, I know someone who did and they only got 10km down the road and their fuel tank overflowed because they were saving 110%.
-
I have run 2 full tanks of "Boost 98" (50+ litre fills so old fuel dilutution will be about 97%) and I will not be using it any more. This is in a 89 VR4 Galant so Skyline experience may be different... The car does not start as well cold and if the engine is hot and you try starting after about 10-30 minutes it takes several seconds of cranking and when it does fire it will not idle, just dies. You have to give the engine a rev to about 2000rpm for it to settle to a stable idle. Economy is noticably poorer too. 400km before filing up and I get 450km on Ultimate or Optimax. My final word? Leave the ethanol in beer where it belongs, not in your fuel!

I sent in a suggestion about that to PPQ last year but I guess they weren't interested as they never even replyed to my email. I even asked to reserve [87-28] as it was the Galant's rego in Japan.

That's not knocking, that's flogged bearings. Above idle your mum's car's oil pump can deliver enough flow to build up some oil pressure. Knock (and ping and detonation) in this case is referring to the non-smooth propagation of the flame front in the combustion chambers of your engine and the characteristic noise it makes. Wikipedia article on knock read and learn. That's how most of us did it...

Yeah, those things are REALLY good. But they work best if you run 1:100 ratio of snake oil in your petrol... Wanna buy some? It's simple people, if these things (or any of the similar claiming gadgets) worked, EVERY taxi and courier van in the country would have them fitted. Fuel is their major expense and even a 2% saving would be a big deal to them.

Where The Available Stock Photos Are Taken
PTR33 replied to PTR33's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Who me? Farkoff, I work for a living. It wasn't that hard to find, just look for that very distinctive bridge at a major Japanese port. I got it third time lucky. Not f*kuoka, not Osaka, bingo for Nagoya. Found the big bridge and then matched up the two barges across the channel from where most of the cars are photographed and then some of the other bridges, buildings and other details. Too easy. Perhaps I should work for ASIO... p.s. anyone else having problems getting onto prestigemotorsports website? I'm just getting error messages. HAHAHA that's really funny, the thought police module of the forum won't let me type F-u-k-u-o-k-a. It thinks it's a rude word like Fu(k. -
By the time I get 2km down the road, the engine better be warm if it knows what's good for it because it is going to get the fork reved out of it and the full 15PSI boost up the motorway onramp... every morning. But that's ok, because "Diamonds are Forever"

Ever wondered where the photos of the cars on prestigemotorsport.com.au and some on j-spec.com.au are taken? You know, the ones all with the same suspension bridge in the background... Well I did, so I went looking on google earth. and I found it. Car Pics (link to google earth placemark) Have a look around, you can see all the landmarks that are in the background of pics like these ones CLICK CLICK 2 Have a bit of an explore of the port of Nagoya. See how many thousands of cars there are in the yards there!!

appologies for resurecting an old thread that is 90% gobshite, but I just have to put in my 2cents worth. I had a BA MK2 XR6T from brand new (Oct 2005) for six months. Nice enough car, but nothing special. I am now back to driving my Jap spec 1989 Galant VR4. It's faster and handles better. and it cost less than 1/4 the price of the turbo taxi. Oh and the Galant has things like Climate Control A/C standard. Yep, the locals still have a looooooong way to catch up.

It's only illegal if the traffic is moving. You cannot overtake a moving vehicle in the same lane. BUT you can pass a stationary vehicle in the same lane. It is a case of being pedantic with laws that don't really apply to the exact situation. There is no actual law that deals with "splitting" lanes on a bike. BUT this incident has naff all to do with that. His vehicle collided with your stationary vehicle that was in a valid and legal position on the road. He is at fault and liable for damage that he has caused to your vehicle. Book him Danno (heh, just realised, probably no-one under at least 30 will get the Hawii Five-O referance)

Have a good day everyone and drive safe. I won't be able to make it this time, but any of the other club events have been great. I hope you all appreciate Erin's efforts in all these events you get to attend... Peter
