I'd love the Autech but i don't have or really want to spend 18k on a car that when im off my P's i can get another car for around the same or cheaper and demolish it. I don't know honestly what I want out of my car, I obviously need something to get around in to and from work each day (Don't need anything like a ute for work) but something I can have fun with at the same time and enjoy driving. I would get a 34 but I don't like the sedans at all there real ugly. I don't want to turn it into a beast but i want something just nice thats got a little bit so i can open it up when I want to and have some fun with it. Don't plan on doing TO much to it, while im on my P's mostly looks if anything. My mate was telling me if I get a N/A supra its the same drive train as the TT Supra so when im off my P's all id need to do is switch the engine basicly and im done?

Yeah i know what you mean by the Supra's end up looking very rice rocket compared to the skylines, they look real like a real mean car. I keep getting people comming past my place and calling me giving me ideas people saying check out S15's now lol. Oh the dilema. Maybe i should just stick to what i was going to get orginally haha.

Yeah thats what I thought, skylines have that more aggro looking body with more umph! to it than the supra, tho the supra is a machine. I don't mind the inside of the supra what i don't like tho honestly is the front lights, in my eyes there really.. really big. I think i might have to do some modification to it tho if I got some make them a bit more skinny. they also feel like they have a massive front end.

The VTi-R with the Vtec engine (Isn't it always a vtec engine if its a VTi-R?) As a act of god tho, one of my old friends from highschool came past with a mate of his. He just got his N/A supra and since he lives 2 streets away came past to show me..... and let me take it for a spin. Fun fun fun... maybe i'll slowly not hate them?

Iv driven a N/A supra before and i admit, they are machines for no turbo cars but there's something about them I just don't like in the shape. Thats the reason i liked Skylines since I was a kid because i loved there aggressive style but something about the supra just doesn't do it for me. Then again the more I think about the supra's the more i'll probly end up liking it ha-ha. How does 4WS go is cars that had a little work done to them? I understand there good for parking etc but how do they go on a strait line. Also, what if you where to do a advance driving course or drifting with the car does it affect the car much comparded to a 2WS

Tried doing some searching but i just can't exactly pick it up 100% with the meanings but VTi-R is a VTEC engine yeah? Whats SiR engine? I just don't get the honda engines whats the more powerful etc

Well my budget for my Skyline when I was getting one was about, 14-15k (Planned on a R33 S2 GTS or a 34 2 door) BUT if I don't end up getting one, im looking at around the same if not lower, if i spend less on this one its more money i can put into my Full licence car when I go to buy it. Thinking about, -Honda CRX -Honda Prelude -Toyota Celica -Honda Civiv -Other VTI-R cars. -S13/14/15

Yeah thats what I was thinking. Keep something nice as a daily and have my beast ready for when im off my P plates. Now all it comes down to is what, I want something a little sporty with a bit of go but not to much. I been told look into the VTEC type car, integra or a prelude something around them lines. I was looking into a Series 3 or 4 Rx7 but been told they drink the fuel and need to be looked after alot.

Ok been thinking recently and just can't decide so I thought i'd get some advice from you guys. I like the skylines, ever since i was a kid iv been interested in jap culture and loved the skyline and am almost ready to buy my first one. The only problem is it will be my daily driver and to get to work so the KM's will stack up on it. Also im on my P plates, So no turbos. I been thinking maybe, buy one and build it up over the next 2 years so it'll be ready for me when im off my Ps and just find another car for the next 2 years, something thats nice with a little power for some fun but not a car wreck. I been a fan of the rx7's for a long time and was thinking about maybe getting a S2/3/4 or a cheap prelude or a older Silvia? That or buy a cheap, 32 GTS make it run on the road and keep something a little more powerful like a GTR out the back for me to work on and learn about the car over the next 1-2 years befor I could drive it. Also just wanted to ask, considering i don't know a heap about skylines. Should I look into importing one or stick to trying to find it local. Thanks for the advice, just in 2 minds at the moment need some guidance

Yeah think i'll just stick to a GTS RWD. What sorta KW am i looking at for a gts 33/34? Even tho I might not be buying it from anywhere from now to the next 4 months, Mind if I see some I like if I shoot a PM with the link to you to have a quick look and tell me if its ok? Going to start doing the search now, if i find something i really like i might buy it befor my trip to japan.

Hey guys thought I would say hi Long time skyline / import lover and almost first time owner of one Joined the forums to try and learn as much as I can about skylines and cars in general and so far from the victorian section they helped me out quite a bit, hopefully i'll have my R33/34 GTS or GTS-4 (Non turbo, damn P plates)

Yeah I like the look of the skylines better than the supra, I got to drive one once out of town (N/A) and damn, it was fast but im just not a fan of the shape. I pretty much got it down to to either a (prefer S2) R33/34 GTS or GT4. Don't know if theres a massive difference in the car with AWD if its N/A but i remember driving my best friends subaru AWD and it stuck like anything. Don't plan on doing the engine conversion later. I'll just keep it nice how it is. Do a few mods here and there for some looks and probly just sell it once im on my full licence. Now the search begins to find the car

Well just got out of hospital. Tonsils out and im pumped up on heaps of morhpine. On a side note my mums bf got me some car mags to read while i was in there. Found a nice little artical about top 10 P plate cars. Poor mans (Up to 10k) and Rich kid (10k > 20k) The rich kids had, Supra first, Integra, S15, MR2 and then nissan 300zx. Been told by a few people to think about a N/A supra but i still like the skyline a bit more One thing I can't get my head around, Been told by a few people think about a 33 instead of a 32 since there old. True? Also. Correct me if i'm wrong GTS RW only. GTS-T / GTT RW tubro? GTS-4 AWD non turbo? GTR AWD turbo. Then theres also V-spec but im still trying to get my head around that Atleast I got 2 weeks of looking at cars and learning since hospital said take 2 weeks off.

Yeah nah I hear what you mean and agree, i know what will happen in a turbo if i get caught so thats why im not going past that path. Lol, Not worried about the parents. Only child to my mum so i could never get her off my back "Oh no you shouldnt drive a fast car" mentality. Dad tho, 1 of 4 brothers and from there track record (All lost there licence at one point or another, many times each) he thinks im the same "all your gonna do is rip burnouts and drift and blah blah blah" Sticking 100% to a N/A. Yeah, I'm 20 but being the slack bugger I am didn't get my red P's till just befor i was 19 Going to stick with a non turbo for the moment tho, mainly because my mums boyfriend knows quite a bit about cars (not jap cars tho) and there's no way she will lend me the cash for the car (she doesn't want me to take a loan prefer to just lend me the cash and make repayments to her) and he will be able to tell with a blink of a eye if i had a turbo on the car. Wouldn't mind it haha... good to be in something thats probly faster than my brothers VE Dad drives a 2008/9 M3 and his having a go at me about getting a skyline saying "I'll never grow up" ... yet he drives that monster haha.

I'm on my Green P's, I'm not so worried about the turbo anymore or a GTR, I don't mind waiting the 2ish years I have left on the P's to do the upgrade. Over the past few days reading around the site i got it out of my system. I don't want to have trouble with the cops every day and have to worry about cops everyday on my way to work ect hoping i don't get pulled over if you get my drift. Not going to mod it to the point where cops are going to want to hammer me don't want it sitting 1cm off the ground. Don't mind keeping things legal... Or atleast things that are going to get noticed left right and center. Don't plan on thrashing it around either. I got 3 older brothers (I'm 20, Ones 20 (4 weeks apart half brother) another whos 27 and oldest at 28) and I know all to much trouble they had with cars they way they drive then and how many times each of them has lost there licence. I don't plan on following the same path they did Money wise I was looking around.. 14k mark.. give or take. I plan on borrowing the cash off the old girl from my saving for my house deposit (Don't think im ready to get a house yet) to save me getting a loan out from the banks and paying intrest. Gotta keep reading and trying to learn as much as I can about the car, only got really into cars and learning about them (not just how much i can smoke a set of tires) past 2-3 months. Well yeah, it did well for about the first 8 months of driving (its a TRX also) but it had this one lingering problem that when it started, it would conk out very... very slowly after about 3-5 seconds of the car being turned on. Almost like it was struggling to get fuel. Then all of the sudden it didn't do it for a few months and then bang, past month and a half every day its happened. Been waking up 30 minutes early to make sure i can get it started incase i need to take a tram into the city. Taken it to god knows how many mechs to check it out and everytime they check it out they either can't find the problem, or its running 100% for the 3days to a week they keep it. I love the car and even tho I didn't get a VE like my brother did (4 weeks older than me, half brother ) i still loved it but its just starting to cause me a heap of shit I acually like l_uk3y;s idea, i thought about just one and slowly buying parts and learning about everything slowly over the next 2 years so that when i can do whatever i want to it i'll know what im doing and able to appreciate it more knowing that i put time into my miniture beast over the years All's looking good at the moment, thanks guys really helping me out

Work at my dads pet shop (Upmarket Pets) in the city, opposite queen victoria market. Also work at his aquarium in coburg on bell street (Coburg aquarium). If anybody needs advice or stuff for the pets or fish, i'll try and hook you up I drive a pintara (upgrading to a 32 soon hopfully)... dad gets to drive a brand new M3...

Thanks Charles89 and the rest of the guys, I would love to keep the pintara since its what i learn't to drive in but its just starting to cost to much to keep going and spent almost more on it than what i got it for and it still keeps giving me grief. From what I learnt today and talked to some friends who drive skylines or know about them i;m going to stick with either a 32 / 33 GTS, Hell if i somehow pull some more money out the wazu i might get a 34 but I think i should just stick to keeping it cheap and not wasting to much so I can save to keep me keen for when im off the P's to work on building it up from there or getting a new one. Also, one last thing. I been on carsales a fair bit looking around since im working full time at my dads pet shop at the vic market so not much time to go have a look around caryards all day haha What am I looking at... carsales is anywhere from 6k to around... 14k ish give or take.
