Thanks sorry I see. I was thinking more like a piece of totally open road with no other traffic, i guess in the old days you could go bush and drive fast out there. So there are racetracks? How much do you pay for insurance and use of a racetrack? I was kinda hoping this would be a friendly scene.. I used to be involved in classic car racing and hill climbs in the UK and this was a very friendly scene, although i didnt own my own car my uncles had old racers from the 30s and 40s! Im just looking for a new hobby, ive given up on motorbikes since a nasty accident.

I am thinking of buying my first sportscar an old skyline. Where can you learn to drive fast in brisbane? Do you need a special license? What about "open roads" with no cops?

Hi I have never had a performance car before... I want to buy an old Skyline and learn how to drive fast before I buy something better! There are many Skyline variations and I know some are much better than others. I want to spend about $12,000. Can someone advise me which model to get... um my GF only has a license for an automatic but then again she doesnt have to drive it... Also I live in Brissy... where can i go to drive it? I mean are there any racetracks you can go to for the day, how much does that cost or are there any free places or big roads with no cops!! Will i look like a tit turning up in an old $12000 banger.. when everyone got the latest and modified skylines! How can i get into this??? Im still trying to understand all the specs etc Thanks Please not too many flames for the newbie we all gotta start somewhere!! P.S I am 31. No car crashes or insurance claims yet currently insured with AAMI with my old Camry lol... how much am i looking at for third party insurance? Ive had a car in Australia for the last year. Also are Skylines expensive for maintainance? Thanks
