  1. Flame posts are fun and entertaining
  2. The U13 has that S14/R33 styling about it.

  4. I guess I'd like to see how someone that paid for their 1990 GTR in 2005 goes.
  5. Brake to a stop and put hazard lights on to piss them off.
  6. As your name says, you need an R33. If I wanted a car that looked like a Camry I'd buy a Camry. Personally, I would take the R34 if I had a spare 25Gs. + Newer + Faster + Looks better

  8. Damn, and I was going to swap my R32 GTR for a Smart car. LOL Sucks to be a Mexican!
  9. I had a thought, since the sound is only there on cold idle, could it be insufficient oil pressure? Would a new oil pump help?

  11. < is the *less than* sign. Less than 15 year old cars have to be made standard.
  12. It doesn't matter how non-standard the car is. The compliance process for <15 years old vehicles will involve taking all non-factory fitted parts off the car and replacing them with stock factory items (at your expense of course). A highly-modified non-accident vehicle has a better chance of being complied than a stock vehicle that has kissed the rails a few too many times. It's all about the damage. BTW, the compliancing workshop I used (for 15 year compliance) said they warn people importing about the stock parts requirement; the car importer then proceeds to remove all non-standard parts before the compliancing workshop gets their hands on them. So the importer gets to keep their goodies and the workshop keeps their nose clean. So they've seen cars turn up without exhausts and the like.
  13. Everyone wants to drag you off at the lights and overtake you.
  14. So it doesn't matter right?
  15. R31 Silhouette. RB30E engine, with 250nm torque! Plus LSD. Should be around $3000-$5500.
  16. Hi all, My R32 GTR has a tapping sound in the engine on cold-start idle. The sound is not there under throttle. The sound is not there once the engine is warm (some driving) and idle. My friend says it's lifters and that I should use diesel oil to quiten them. What do others think?
  17. I never said he *hid* the cost. I'm not abusing Geoff. I'm saying in general, the *advertised* price is not the price. I knew there would be *other* costs. So I guess by what you are saying, there are *no hidden costs*, only *allowances*?
  18. Hidden costs, yes siree. Prestige quotes the FOB+Shipping+Customs price. Then you have (approximately, I don't have my receipts in front of me): Compliance (15 year) $1150 (for a 15 year car) Engineer sign off $100 Roadworthy $???? (I needed new bushes so $660 incl. labour) Towing, towing and more towing (or unregistered vehicle permit) $??? New keys because my key doesn't start the car $50 Air con degas $160 Air con regas $100 Full service $300 So my $15000 car on Prestige is around $18000 to date. Next I have to register it. And insure it. Beware of other import brokers that quote "landed" price because I think they don't include the customs duties to clear it. That said, the car in the flesh matches the description Geoff gave.
  19. Ah ha. I'm having my BNR32 complied at the moment. It had 136000KM on it when Geoff (Prestigemotorsport) held it for me. It now has 30000KM on it. Tampering with a car that has been sold already? WTF?
  20. My car arrived in Brisbane about 3 weeks ago. It spent a week on the docks. It's spent two weeks at the compliance place. It's going to a mechanic for a full once-over after that. It better be on the road before Christmas!
  21. This is all Nissan's fault. They confused the weak-minded by calling the Chassis V35. Since the last Skyline was R34, people see the 35 and stick an R next to it. They should have just skipped some numbers or something and called it the V40 or something (like the R30 was the start of a new generation).
  22. What does N1 stand for? Searching doesn't help because it's 2 characters.
  23. You'll find that for R33s at least, there isn't much cost advantage to importing over buying locally (at least privately). You'll find there is a saving over the price from a dealer's markup. You'll have an opportunity to select from a greater range of examples by choosing to import.
  24. Porsches are great and all, but since they're rarer than R33s parts are going to be hell expensive. Just my opinion.
  25. Sounds like someone would fail the psych test... But really, what sort of people are the kids that choose high powered cars then write them off? They won't be the ones that pass the psych test. I believe there is a difference between the kid hoon and the enthusiast driver. The kid hoon is the one which puts up all our insurance on Skylines.
