  1. Would he still be able to boost though? He said he can just its lazier than usual. Pull off your intake pipe and give the compressor wheel a good jiggle see if it moves at all, side to side/back and forwards.
  2. I'm trained in First Aid and when we had our class our trainer told us things are very different in the US and its also starting to happen here. He told us people feel violated if you help them and some people will threaten legal action. An example which happened in Australia he told us about, someone had passed out, had a heart attack. A first aid trained person was around and performed CPR and did the usual stuff. A rib was fractured and the guy who had the heart attack made a recovery then sued the person who helped him. You do a good deed and some people will not see it like that. If I was there, sorry I would not touch the person, I would call an ambulance. The driver in the other car(regardless of car), should have stayed. He was not at fault but leaving the scene was not a good move at all. These days you try to do something good and you gotta think if its gonna swing back and bite you. I had a major car accident last year, plenty of other cars saw it. No one bothered to get out and ask if I needed help, no one bothered to come forward as a witness, no one bothered with anything.
  3. Auxiliary Air Control valve. From those sounds, I'd be looking at a fuel related issue. If cleaning the AAC didn't fix it, something tells me it might be fuel. Its hard to tell from the video but it sounds like its lean popping and not enough fuel at that RPM. Ive had a number of coilpacks fail on me and most times they never presented a symptom at idle or free revving. I had a failing fuel pump. Car was hard to start, you couldn't free rev it, let alone drive the car without it gurgling, popping and carrying on.
  4. Well if it's an r33 or 34 you wont be burning your headlights. The plastic can burn and the reflective shit can discolour. They are also far too bright especially for oncoming vehicles. Regardless of what is in your car your car uses a h1 bulb. All ballasts have a standard wire setup. You buy the wattage to suit the ballast and thr bulb go suit the car. H1. Im not positive on thr kelvin rating though. Not sure if its controlled by the ballast or bulb.
  5. Ah yeah nice stuff building the trailer. My boats 5.3m on a boeing trailer. I really do think this trailer is too small for the boat but it gets away because the capacity is fine. Just looks short lol.
  6. My car is H1. Its an r33 and im pretty sure r32 and 34 are same. I would not get a 55w version. Get the 35w.
  7. People run these mafs after the turbo in big boost setups. She'll be fine but as you said it generally isnt necessary. The only vacuum point is the intake pipe to afm to air filter. The rest of the intake goes under pressure.
  8. Sounds like a gasket somewhere either mani to turbo or turbo to dump. Could also be a hose so check those first.
  9. My car does this. Also a power fc. Most of the times idle is fine then randomly it will idle leaner to the point it pops. I cant understand wtf is going in. I cant recreate the scenario. Ive tested for leaks etc and come clean. When it happens the only other thing I noticed is there is less vacuum. According to my profc b when its running fine its at -96 but when it decides to play around its at -87. Ive also noticed the timing starts jumping to 16 then back to 15. Idle does not change but the sound of the car will and it pops.
  10. I noticed I have air seeping up through the oil filler cap. I can hear the air hissing out from there. Its a nismo cap. Anyone know where I can buy the stock one? Also is that normal? How do you get all th valves to be shut? Whats the most pressure you test with? Some people online say no more than 8psi but thats retarded since my turbo applies up to 20psi to the walls.
  11. Mmmm not true. I own a boat, the trailer wheels get fully submerged and more often than not the wheels of our truck will make contact with the water. Its a big boat and if we don't do this we risk touching bottom on some ramps and it becomes a pain to get the boat off on a hot day where its sticky on the rollers. This is with a Mitsubishi Triton, high as f**k with big wheels. If it was a skyline, you will be touching the water if you're dropping off a boat. Ive seen cars get water up their exhaust, and very often.
  12. Rocker cover gaskets and headgaskets are hugely different. There's a whole thread on oil read it. Oil coolers in alot of cases aren't necessary.
  13. Its either the flasher or the power consumption is too low triggering the blown light indicator. My old skyline needed a new flasher. They were getting stuck on.
  14. As others said, keep fresh oil quality oil in there, make sure your coolant is nice and green. Do your maintenance work and she'll be good. If you've got a big exhaust you might find it hard to hear the det. Maybe worth while investing in knock sensors with visual feedback. Maybe there is a way to intercept the standard knock sensor loom and build and wire it up to a gauge modified for knock. Don't hold me to this as I am not sure if the unit transmit a signal of resistance(more resistance more knock or the other way around) or if it sends a direct sound signal and the ECU interprets the noise. Ive also read knocking could sound like chains being dragged underneath the car. I have never heard knock from my car but Ive seen it bounce around on my power fc.
  15. Just an update. Called up a few places, ended up going with a SuperCharge MF75D23L. Was only $140 so not bad at all. Has twice the cranking power compared to my old battery, much larger, greater capacity and its sealed. It was a straight fit, old terminals were fine but I had to make a longer securing bracket on the top of the battery. 5 minute job. If you're after a battery for your R33 and need something a little bigger, consider the MF75D23L. 3 years replacement warranty too.
  16. Ive seen a few. It looks strange but its practical. Seen a few skylines towing small boats and trailers. Id shit my self though putting my skyline on a ramp let alone dunking the rear in the salt.
  17. I'll give them a call and see what they suggest. Just went down to the local and the chap suggested the same battery I got in there, the 40vlsx or something or rather. I don't leave my stereo running when the car is off, but I do think my alarm is one of those drain your battery in two days type. Zane can your sealed battery be fit in any position?
  18. Is there an optima shop in nsw or one of their resellers. Their main location seems to be in victoria.
  19. I don't feel this battery is suitable. It is far too small and since Ive had the car its always been abit laggy on cold morning starts. Also have a sound system in there, not too big but again a battery that small will be pushing it. Thinking of getting an Optima battery but unsure if they will fit.
  20. Hey all, Can anyone suggest a shop I can go to around Sydney to get a battery which will fit right in? Car isn't starting on some mornings and just now after a drive it didn't want to start. Turns over then clicks, low on juice. Voltage when running is about 14 - 14.2v which would indicate the alternator is fine. Ive called a few shops they all either cant be stuffed or don't know. Someone suggested "any battery will fit". Can't see how since there is very limited room. If I go dry cell can the battery be mounted flat? There isn't very much room at the moment between the speaker and negative battery terminal and the battery in there is tiny. Its a century branded battery and its much smaller than the battery tray in the car. Sum it up, new battery from where, how much and wet or dry?
  21. This isn't a helpful thread. I drive past more wankers in non sports cars than sports cars. Should I name and shame every single car which hoons? I'm pretty sure every sports car owner has had a spirited run on the road at once point in their life. Hell even police have admitted to this in their "younger days".
  22. Make sure the pulley belt drive matches that on the skylines balancer. Prob dont want to run a thinner belt if the alternator needs a thicker piece.
  23. My car did the same thing at one stage. Just filled it up with fresh and away it went.
  24. Will this car pass a crash test? Or are we going to be expected to place our feet on the dash to try stop the engine from crushing us while holding the roof up so it doesnt cave in
  25. Do it properly. You need bigger injectors a bigger maf a tuneable ecu a bigger fuel pump new dump a bigger cat and more than likely new coils and plugs. Open the wallet let it spill.
