Ive got everything I need to tune my car, its just the knowledge and the location to do it. How do you determine what is the best fuel map for your car? The timing part, I assume you'd just start low and go a little more, checking knock in each cell but its not always about raising timing until it knocks. If I knew enough, I'd tune my self but for now, its risky. I can spend my time editing the tune I have to make it a little safer, but starting from scratch is a different story for me Wish I had my own private track.

What about 90 knock on full boost at about 6000rpm? Not sure why its happening, I cant find my maps on my computer to look at it now. Not sure if spend money or just pull timing my self.
-
My car was tuned there. I then got it tuned by DVS JEZ. Who are JC? I need to get my car looked at again but because Jez is up way away from me, its not always practical to go there so I might drop over at CRD for a look over. Lately Ive been seeing some serious knocks, even on low boost, in the upper RPM. Scares me.

Good to hear its still a relativley standard motor, so this stuff is still achievable! Unfortunately though, I don't want to go high mount. Time to read up on the forums, its been a while!

What's the difference between the SS2 I have and that SS2? Or has the test car changed because damn 370rwkw, I'm shy 110rwkw!

It does sound like shit. I bought one, put it on for about 10 minutes, lol'd, took it off and sold it for a profit. -
Hsd Coilovers R33/r34
SargeRX8 replied to bri73y's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
I need some fresh coilovers for my car. Are these comfortable? Ive got teins on my car and they are hard as shit and uncomfortable to drive on. -
Hmm I read your link(https://sites.google.com/site/no2vsccs/3-permitted-modifications/modified-cars/modifications-reviewed-with-stakeholders) and this seems to show modifications which do need certification. If this is the case, there is no listing there about a pod or fmic. It does say if you fit a turbo charger which increases power output by 20% of the original stated, but it leaves out alot of obvious things. It doesn't say anything about engine management, I always thought this was a big point.

Cheers for all the input guys, much appreciated. The police already have a copy of the video but chances are nothing will come of it anyway. I drive an R33 skyline and this car gets alot of the right and wrong attention. It gets the thumbs up from many drivers but other times, there would be a car full of fully sick dead weights next to me who just look like they wanna tear me and my car a new asshole. If this was premedidated and targeting me, I would know who it was. If I didn't know, I would have an idea of potentials. The problem is, I can't think of a single person, neighbour, or even a person Ive come in contact with who would have any reason to want to do this, unless they just didn't like me full stop. Last year when my blinkers were stolen, mind you the car is parked in a side street, not too well lit either, the car came past and the people jumped out, one go, pulled out the blinkers, snip and off they went. These tards who smacked my windscreen, were sloppy. They drove around twice which was a stupid move. Why? Lets ask why did they drive around twice. Did they want to double check its the right car? Did they want to see if anyone is around? If they wanted to check its my car, shouldn't they know it is? I mean cmon, a white r33 skyline, its not like the street is litered with them. If they wanted to see if anyone was around, what would make them so sure that a 1min drive around the block won't result in someone passing by. If I was out to get someones car, the plan would be set, the target identified and the task done in one pass. On their second time around they stopped at the wrong position on my car for a second or two then moved forward and hti the wind screen. Again, if this was me targetting someone specific and I was hanging out of the car with a hammer, I wouldn't give two shits where I swung, windscreen, driver glass, side mirror, bonnet etc. This looked like the other cowards who egged our cars a while back. They egged our car then done a f**king 3 point turn to drive away, I got outside but was about 1 second two late. These people are dumb. Malicious damage is generally hit and run, not hit, fall over, get up and run. I'm making the video public, view and comment if necessary. Also if someone here is good with brake lights and patterns and can identify what issues this car has with their rear lights, please post it. If you can at all identify the make or model of the car, would be great too. From what I can draw, the car has brake light issues, its a ligher coloured car, 4 door sedan, sounded like a 6 cylinder, has a spoiler light, no brake light in the rear window.

Need Help - Z32 + Wiring Test Car - Ctown/liverpool Area
SargeRX8 replied to Kane_R32's topic in New South Wales
My car was stalling and screwing around lately. I knew there was a problem with something to do with my Z32. Turns out the wiring was the culprit. Leave your car running(if it runs) and jiggle the wires, the harness and see if you get any changes in the engine sound or if it cuts out completely. I soldered mine and it seems to be going fine now. -
Someone on here, a while back, was pulled by a cop and the cop said unless the pod is completely sealed in an enclosure its defectable. Unfortunately, that cop may have been dropped on the head. A fully sealed pod filter is like breathing through a straw. I read somewhere that a guy is the ft86 got defected because of the DRL's which you can't switch off. Tyre size is, I believe, 2" bigger than the sticker on the car which again is quite silly. Unless your tyres are sticking out your guard of give turning issues, wider tyres actually give better grip to the road with the increased surface area touching the road. Making the car "as legal as possible" won't do anything if you're bitten by the wrong cop. Its all in the attitude and the cops mood. I was ready to start making changes to get my car engineered but since its just an extra cost which will not guarantee you won't be defected, its just more money you gotta spend. Ultimately it comes to ride height and the noise. If your car can't be heard from down the street or seen cutting the grass, you might slip under the radar. All this said, I really do miss my old exuahst. Its been off for a while now. I jacked the car up yesterday to put it back on but I had to resist.

In all honestly I'm a peaceful driver. I don't cut people off, I don't play really loud music, I don't tail gate, I don't race or get anyone gee'd up. My brother thinks someone might have tried to race me and when I give them the cold shoulder, some people get angry and it could be some wanker from a situation like that. Who ever did this was a gutless and inexperienced driver. Their plan was thought out but no so much as when it came to the crunch they looked to have fumbled their plan. I've taken alot of videos off youtube. I had a few videos up demonstrating my cars and in a couple of them I drove home and parked. Recently Ive noticed a few people subscribing to my youtube page who don't have youtube accounts. Its probably nothing but hell there could be some wanker on the internet who probably didn't like my video... and there were a few who called my car junk, rubbish, gutless etc. The way I see it is if someone had a problem with me, they should take it out on me and not on my car at 4am. If someone had a problem with me, I would know.

See those are the only possibilites I could think of my self. Its been targeted in the past as I said in my first post by random idiots, just this time it went abit further. Another guy a few streets away has cctv. We asked him if we could watch his records but unfortunately nothing passes by his cameras at that time. It was a few turns away from my place. There are no petrol stations or anything either which could be of benefit.

My only concern with this was forgetting when rego was due, but I remembered we get reminder letters 28 days before. Then again mine was always placed on the rear little window so was never in the way anyway.

I kept this quiet to do my own snooping around but can't come up with anything and just want to hear the general input. On boxing day morning, at 3:53am a car came past my car slowed down and drove off. About a minute later the same car came past, stopped near my car then rolled forward and stopped again after which the passenger reached out of their window and hit my windscreen 4 times with what I would say is a hammer, then they drove off. We heard it and some of us were awake as it was christmas night so we were just chatting and watching youtube videos. By the time we got outside there was no one there but the bangs and the car rapidly accelerating away were a sign something happened. We saw the holes and immediately drove around the blocks and surrounding area to find no suspicious activity. We got home and sat down and spoke about the indicent and the part that has me fumbled is the simple fact that there is not a single person who I can think of that has any reason to do this. I don't care much about a large circle of friends. I go to work, I come home, I sleep. I wake up and do it all again. I never go out, I never start trouble with people. Hell the last argument I had was probably in year 8 high school. I cant see any motive behind this but at the same time it looked too thought out to be random. They stopped, eyed my car out with their lights off then came back. How do I know this? The footage is on CCTV. Problem is the CCTV has night vision so colour is lost and the number plate is no where near visible. The quality of the picture is quite poor and we've watched it many times back. Its too planned to be random but I can't put a finger on any single person or even think of a potential person who would have done this. Could it be random? Around the same time last year my blinkers were stolen and numerous times cars in our street get egged. The person who did this is scum. The driver was in panic mode. They turned their lights off approacing my car. Then switch them back on. They held the brakes and accelerator at the same time when creeping forward. Their tail lights do not appear to be working properly. I can show the video but only by request on PM if you send me your youtube username as it is on private. The car can be seen at a few points but we have problems making a positive ID but from the list we drew, I know no one with any of the cars it could be. Numerous people I have spoken to suggest it is random and it could be an attack on my car and not me personally, attack for the sake of stupidity, mistaken identity while others suggest no one would do such an act without being payed for it because, if caught, they could be charged. From where I sit, I think its a random dead weight of society. Any input?

How Much Difference Will Swapping Exhausts Make.
SargeRX8 replied to SargeRX8's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I think TiTAN's statement is correct, its when you find a quiet exhaust with no mufflers(low profile crap you see online) which can shut the sound up but poses a massive restriction. The size of the rear muffler is f**king huge, if you've seen the Nismo exhaust you'll know what I mean. If you haven't its about two times the size of a HKS canon. The mid muffler is nice and big too. The pipes are full 3" all the way to the back. My old HKS was 3" then became 3.5" after the resonator in the middle. Just fitted on the Nismo, honestly doesn't sound bad at all. It loses that tough raspy sound of the HKS but what I'm left with is a very nice quiet idle and a clean RB note. Only issue now is the damn gasket between the cat and the cat back is shaggered(its the multi plate copper thing). When backing off I can hear the plates flapping around so gonna need to replace it. My car is all bolt ons(injectors, turbo, dump, ecu etc) for 255rwkw. Most of my drives are on average 15 minutes long. Sometimes the odd 40 minute drive. Never really take it anywhere. When summer rolls by Ill throw the HKS back on if the temperatures are an issue. -
Hey all, Long time since Ive posted here. Anyway just looking to quieten down my car a little. At the moment its got the HKS Silent Hi Power exhaust(the one without the muffler), and its far from silent. Its a 3.5" exhaust pretty much just a long tube to a canon. Ive got another exhaust here which is the 3" Nismo exhaust which has a mid muffler and also the biggest rear muffler Ive ever seen. If I swap these exhausts out will I notice a big drop in performance? I don't really do anything with the car which needs performance all the time. Just a daily driver to and from work and when out with the mrs. I figured since I granny drive the car I should keep her quiet(after seeing the ACA shit on TV and how cops are going to be cracking down on defective cars and mainly noisy cars, the least attention we attract the better). I can live with power loss but if its going to cause my turbo to heat up much more rapidly which will raise intake temps and potentially cause det, that is what I can't live with..... We all know how strict HG is about high flowing exhausts with their turbos(SS2). Any input? Are those nismo exhausts rubbish? Last I heard it on my car, I couldn't even hear the thing at idle and since the stock exhaust isn't even enough to stay legal, this one is quiet enough not to hopefully awake sleepy eyes when I finish those late shifts.

Have you tried bleeding the coolant? Do the bubbles come back? If you get bubbly coolant after bleeding it properly chances are your head gasket is gone.
-
I put the new penrite hpr stuff, extra 10 full synthetic. I get a much more comfortable oil pressure with this than I did with the every day stuff. I used to use expensive oils but it really is a waste if you just drive the car as a daily IMO. $40 a bottle too. Used to cost me almost double before.

Just Purchased Gtr32 And Need Help (Headlights, Wiper Spray)
SargeRX8 replied to kor_gtr32's topic in General Maintenance
If the car is PURELY a daily car and you do want to remove the brakes and you have a big brake kit, you can make some pretty good money selling that kit which you can use to buy original wheels and brakes and potentially have money left over. I think brakes are a good thing though. I have no idea about the R32 headlight but I don't think its necessary to buy the N1 headlights to fit HID's. HID's are nothing special. What ever size globe your car fits, get the same size in 35w 4700k(or 6500 if you want the blue look) and it should plug straight in. Any suspension will hold the wheels onto that car(unless that car has some crazy work done on it to the suspension and the alike). I think you should steer very clear of the original units. They are really old parts and you won't find a good set. Get a replacement from Bilstein if you can source them. Stock ones will be too soft for their age. Also if your highbeams aren't working, you need to check if its the highbeam element in the globe or a fuse/wiring issue. If its a fuse/wiring issue, fitting in HID's will NOT fix the problem. If the globe is gone, then yes the HID's will be the fix. Then again in the 2 - 3 years owning my skyline, Ive used my highbeams twice.- 15 replies

The midget with the milo tin is normal, its just metal components losing heat and cooling down. The other sound is a strange sound, if I had to take a wild guess I'd say some sort of liquid dripping onto something hot and evapourating. If there was air escaping from a pressurised cylinder, it should be more consistant. That is a really odd sound, it doesn't sound electrical, mechanical, metallic.

SargeRX8 replied to kor_gtr32's topic in General Maintenance
If you want to make it comfortable for street drive, get rid of the tein stuff, its far too harsh for the roads in sydney. Get some Kuhmo ku31 tyres. Nice and cheap and will last you. Feds 595's are also a nice tyre. Don't overlook Maxxis MA-V1's. Tyres won't make a difference for comfort but at 18" you will be running a low profile which will have its effect on road feel. An option is to get smaller wheels with a larger profile(my brothers 18" are 35 or 30, my 17's are 45). You will notice a difference with that setup(wheels/suspension). I think the little water pump may have seized up. If it was empty to begin with, these parts are about 22 years old, it may have corroded internals. Get the bucket seats out and find some r32 GTR seats.- 15 replies

Just Changed My Auxilary Belts Now They Squeal
SargeRX8 replied to SargeRX8's topic in General Maintenance
Just tensioned up all the belts a fair way more(they all seemed alot looser than before...). The PS pump is now tensioned up as much as the bolt can go and still feels pretty loose. Started the car up and no sound so I'm hoping its all done now. If necessary ill get a shorter belt for the PS pump. Cheers for the help guys. -
As Mr dvs suggested put some fresh fuel in it. If the car was running prior to being parked, its probably just fuel gone stale. If you know how you can check injector pulse and see if its getting a spark.
