  1. Hey guys, I'm just about to go in for a new tune with a few new parts about to be thrown on the car and decided it was probably about time I get a new computer before I do so... Of course the Power FC is an obvious choice as it has been around for a long time and is backed by countless performances, but I've also been introduced to the microtech LT12S which I've been told is just as good if not better. Just wondering what are some positives/negatives between the two and which would suit my set up better? I have a 96 S2 rb25det skyline that is all internally stock and just want it set up for street use but still of course the occasional drag and maybe circuit race aswell..??? Cheers
  2. ok guys, Had another play with it just then.. I put the stock BOV back on and check everywhere I could for any air/vacuum leaks but couldn't find anywhere I could possibly imagine one occurring.. After I reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery again (still not sure how I can tell if this works?) and started the car it did the same thing. Originally it appears to idle fine until a few small pumps on the accelerator (of which it struggles to spool and revs very roughly) then it has trouble idling again??? after reving it a bit it then also starts to pump out black smoke again and shutters. I had a look in the bay while it was idling also and you can notice how much it shutters by looking at it (for some reason it appeared to me to be the turbo that was causing it). So I still think its the turbo that has shat itself but still hope ive missed something???? Does anyone know any good mechanics in the Geelong/Warrnambool area that actually knows what they are looking/talking at/about that may be able to solve my problem??? Cheers, Dallas

  4. Just went and fiddled with my car again today after finally finishing all my drinking for the grand final weekend lol.. Tried resetting the ECU by removing the neg terminal and pumping the brakes , lights etc until all power was gone (after turning the BOV back to plumb back) , hooked the battery back up and started.. At first it seemed ok and was idling fine until after a couple of short revs where it started to range over 1000rpm differences. So it obviously hasnt worked yet but I plan to go back tomorrow and put the stock BOV back on and try the same again to see if that has an effect :S ..
  5. so to turn the BOV back to plumb and ecu reset will fix it?
  6. all stock apart from the parts stated earlier (exhaust, POD, regap plugs, BOV).. Im putting down to the BOV atm, will turn it back to plumb back and have a go at reseting the ecu tonight..
  7. It has a changable BOV which when it stuffed up was on atmospheric which would explain why it did, but I since have changed to the plumb back setting and it hasn't fixed it still?

Ok guys I just need some opinions on what may or may not have happened to my car, Recently (under 3 weeks) I have fully changed the exhaust which inc. a screamer and decat being 3" all the way, re-gapped my plugs to .8mm, and put an aftermarket BOV on. After having all of these on for at least over a week (except the BOV which was put on the day before) when driving my car yesterday after coming off the lights it eventually just lost power and wasn't firing properly which caused me to pull over. After I pulled over and got to a stop it had a lot of trouble trying to idle and moved anywhere between 0rpm-1.5rpm before it eventually stalled, it done this each startup. At first I thought I had done the turbo because it was spooling all that well and there was more than enough black smoke coming out the rear! However after I had it towed back to my mechanic because I couldnt drive it more than 2meters without it stalling. On first inspection they suspected either the turbo or some internal problem (eg: valve) but after closer inspection they put it down that my stock ecu which hasnt yet been tuned to my few mods (only couple weeks away ) had shat its self because it wasnt able to teach its self how to run properly with the mods, and the black smoke was a result of it running far to much fuel than it needed. I'm just wondering what some peoples thoughts are on this problem and whether my mechanic is right (im a bit hesitant to believe that just a tune will fix it because they have never really worked with turbos before) ? Hey guys, I've recently just had to regap my current plugs in my rb25det to the .8mm mark to fix a misfiring problem I had because of air flow upgrades which has completely fixed the problem for now. However, I am thinking that I will be purchasing some NGK BKR5EIX-11 sparkies to fully replace these. Will I still need to regap these plugs down as well or not because of the better performance of them? Cheers, Dallas
  10. Hey guys, I'm keen on adding a few things to the garage if anyone has them available 1. Power Fc and hand controller for r33 rb25det SII 2. Bosch 040 intank pump (straight replacement pump) 3. a plumback BOV or possibly hybrid BOV with rb25det adaptor kit included 4.   11. Ive got an in cabin boost gauge and it is still hanging around the stock boost.. and it only started shuttering much before I put the new exhaust on.. Very loud now! haha
  12. cool.. If the regap doesnt work ill check the coilpacks and prob just buy new spits... I'm still running stock boost atm 5-7psi and its onle when it goes to that 7psi point... cheers for the help!
  13. Hey guys just have a question about a shuttering sortof problem that I'm having recently. To give some background I started putting BP ultimate in my skyline and about 2 months later it started shuttering/misfiring once I boost it abit and go over the 4500rpm mark.. I wasn't sure what was wrong and hoped that it wasnt to serious.. I have now had my full exhaust put on so I know its not a flow problem and am thinking that it must be due to the better fuel that it isnt firing as well? I will have a go at regapping the plugs to .8 and hopefully this will fix it? any suggetsions would be great as to what else it could be.. Cheers..

  16. Hey lads/gals, Just thinking of starting a new small project and thought I better do some research first so I dont find out later half way through it that I can actually do it lol. Planning on the make an illumination emblem for a word/symbol like the ones made by Tommy that can be found on this page http://www.tommykaira.com/tkparts/led-emb/led-emb.htm . Are these possible to make at home? and has anyone done one or know how to? Ive done the rear garnish lightup on the skyline logo but think this looks just as awesome but alot more detailed and difficult. Cheers!!

  18. Hey guys, I've been told that my timing belt for my rb25det S2 will probably be needed to be replaced during my next service. Just wondering whether it is worth it getting a good timing belt as a replacement or just an original one? also as to whether it is worth doing the tentioners at the same time, the sellers of these performance ones reckon so but they could be just trying to make a sale?.   19. getting real frustrated with these siezed bolts! Got the first bolt i tried off reeeeaal easy however all others just cannot budge! have tried wd-40 then moved onto a special lubricant remover thing that is recommended by don burke lol to remove siezed nuts and still can do shit. someone got any suggestions that dont involve a high temperator flame lol?
