You have gone through the same process as me and suffered the same outcome with the stock intake pipe closing shut near turbo inlet. If you want to keep your car looking stock with standard air box i recommend you run a Just Jap silicone intake in black . I have done this and it works and looks great. Happy to show you some pictures of the finished install if you ask nice. This should help you extract all the power available from your set up. Good luck

Most Power Thru A Std Rb25 Intake Pipe
manuel replied to Harey's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thats the same JJ intake pipe i used in my car, great product, highly recommended. The three inch pipe inside my stock rubber intake did not rectify my vacume sealing. The small rubber section that slips onto the front of turbo was closing under boost after i did this modification. When i installed the JJ item, car performed beautiful all through rev range. No vacume syndrome and looks stealth. The JJ silicone pipe is reinforced and very thick. You will need to trim it and dummy fit a few times but it will look like magic once you get it to fit. Just take your time and dont butcher it. I can arrange some photos if you get excited enough .... -
Most Power Thru A Std Rb25 Intake Pipe
manuel replied to Harey's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
My stock intake pipe vacume shut at 254kw with gcg high flow. This resulted in major power drop from 5000rpm onwards. I have an r33 94 model and from what i have seen some stock intake pipes can handle this power and beyond and others let go. All depends on luck of the draw. I installed metal 3inch pipe inside stock intake but this mod did jack shit for me. I went to Just jap and sourced an aftermarket rubber reinforced intake pipe and bolted it in. I run stock air box and everything looks factory to the untrained eye. Problems went away and works perfect now, full boost all the way . Yavuz from Unigroup engineering is recommending them to other customers with this common problem and similar set ups with 2.5 inch turbo inlets. Installation only required some minor trimming of the black JJR intake pipe rubber to make perfect fitment. Im sure with this rubber intake you can run 290kw without any serious modification to intake set up, and you get to keep the stock air box(cops cream themselves over stock air boxes here in nsw) These days it doesnt pay to look good so the trend is maximum power while maintaining stealth look. -

I purchased the turbo from SAU forums for $850 second hand in good conditon. Called michael from GCG and quoted the Job number stamped on turbo and then he gave me the build date. It was only two years old. GCG is in my neighbour hood(condell park), went in and saw michael and he visual inspected turbo, he reckons it looked fine. I wouldnt spend $1900 high flowing my stocker, just buy a gt3071r or 76r new or second hand. When you are honest and generous in life things come back to you 10 fold. look after people and people will look after you. Good quality second hand parts are all over this site and i have been fortunate to deal with good honest people. Like JC says" love your neighbour as you love your self"

I stand corrected Thankyou for teaching me to read a dyno, thats why i love this site, you never stop learning What i should have said is that you will have full boost 16 to 18psi by around 3200rpm with this turbo Thanks.

I sourced most of my parts from SAU second hand from good honest people, thats why i love this site..spread the love. Paid $850 for GCG high flow only 2 years old checked by gcg , sold my stocker for $300 so cost me $550 and installed it my self, piss easy took about 5 hours and everything bolted straight back on. True direct bolton , nothing to change. If i can do it , any one can. Apexi power fc=$950 second hand SAU Nismo 550injec=$600 second hand SAU( need injectors to max out turbo potential) Bosch 040 in tank fuel pump=$50 second hand SAU(needed to meet fuel demands) Splitfire coils=$450 second hand SAU(needed to run bigger gap on my plugs, went from .7 to 1.1 coppers when i upgraded coils. JJR return flow coooler=$450 new 3 inch exhaust turbo back full stainless=$650 wreckers Greddy profec b EBC Run stock air box. Tune=$750 unigroup engineering My set up is begging for a garrett gt3071 or 76r bolton replacement and retune but this exercise will cost me between $2500 to $3000 , to gain an extra 30kw atw on my current set up. The only way i would justify this would be to take a ride in a gtst making 280kw + . If blown away by the difference then i would do it. For now im at peace with what i have. Hope i helped.

Guys i love this site and i value everyones knowledge and opinions. SAU forums has ensured that i have made the right decisions in modifying my car with guaranteed results. And harey, i still love ya mate. You will always have a special place in my heart...... From what i know and have researched my conclusions are as follows GCG high flow= 254kw with great response for street HKS GTRS= 250/260kw with best response for street Garrett gt3071r 5 bolt flange= 265/290kw with good response around 3600 to 3750rpm depending on rear housing Garrett gt 3076r 5 bolt flange=275/300kw with good response around 3650 to 3800rpm depending on rear housing Dont waste your money on the 6 bolt garrett series as they are turd. Hks 3037 and 2835 are great turbos but only for the elite and wealthy

Actually its all about power 2 weight ratio. Harey If its all about power work this out for me 300kw skyline with street tyres loses everytime to 250kw skyline with full race slicks down the quarter Its not all about power buddy, its about power, weight, suspension, tyres, tempreture and also driving skill and ability My apologies to all for drifting from the original thread. Ps i love you harey

I got 254kw at 3200rpm with r33 gcg high flow turbo. Im very happy with the response and power i have with this turbo. I only paid $850 for gcg from SAU forums and sold my stock turbo for $300. So only cost me $550. i still retain factory air box and car looks very stealth. Best bang for buck turbo. I know of people on this forum who have run 12.3s quarters with this power on semi slick street tyres. Invest in some mickey thompson full race slicks on 15inch chaser rims and a jim berry full monty race clutch and you will run 11s with around 250kw. Its not always about all out power. Many other factors to consider...

I had standard bcp7 copper plugs gapped at .7 when i got my car tuned for 254kw at wheels on 16psi with my standard coils which have seen 120000klms and the silicone band aid treatment. Antything more than .7 was making car miss badly. Got some splitfires and gapped the plugs back to 1.1 and the car runs perfect, no miss or hesitation. Big improvement in down low response and also revs harder up top. My research indicates that a new set of coils or some splitfires will allow a better spark to the plug thus allowing you to run a bigger gap. Bigger gap means better combustion of fuel, bigger explosion=more power and igniteability. I have seen this...... i have done this....believe me you want this.

I run a r33 gcg hi flow and also had it tuned at Unigroup. I made 254kw atw with stock air box. I notice that my car boost to 20psi then drops off to 16.5psi from 5500rpm through to 7000rpm. I run a 10psi actuator from a r32 stock turbo. If you find a soloution to this boost drop then let me know as well. As far as i know i think im on the limit of power for this type of turbo. Ideally though, i would like to hold 18 to 20 psi through to red line...
