  1. i need to get the turbo tuned to the power fc. My power fc is tuned to stock r33 turbo so im only running the gcg on 7psi untill it gets tuned. i have noticed that the turbo comes on later than stock but pulls harder to 7000rpm and more. It feels alot quicker than the stock r33 turbo on 7psi and its not even tuned to suit im hoping that with a good pfc tune and greedy boost controler we can get it to boost quicker and pull hard to red line.

Took some photos of the turbos while they were both out of the car The GCG internalls are much bigger than stock Bigger front and rear wheels Also noticed a stamp on rear housing of gcg which says 7. The stock 33 rear housing has a 2 stamped on it. Gettin it tuned soon, chasing 250kw with good response.

  4. Why do i need to modify oil lines if im only replacing my stock r33 turbo with a gcg high flow. Both turbos look the same and all lines bolt up perfectly. The gcg turbo has different internals and new ball bearing cartridge. It is a direct bolt on fit. Anyway we dont need to continue the thread cause the car runs perfect, all problems have been sorted, thanks guys.
  5. Thanks for advice guys, problem has been fixed. 1. Hose between throttle body and intake pipe was leaking air. 2. irridium plugs were fouled so i cleaned them with prepsol and gapped them to .8 Car runs perfect on 7psi with gcg turbo and pfc current tune. it appears that the car can only handle 7psi on current tune as anything hire than this will foul the plugs.
  6. Recently purchased a GCG r33 high flow which appears in good condition. Before i installed it i changed the wastegate to a rb20(10psi) wastegate. The original wastegate on it was an original 7psi one.Then went ahead on a straight foraward install with mechanic supervison and support. My r33 gtst was running 190kw on 12 psi with stock turbo, pfc, 3inch exhaust, smic, , 040 fuel pump, profec b greedy boost controler, standard air box. After install: When i installed the gcg high flow, car started fine and then i took it for drive around the block. When the car came on boost it whistled loudly then the car hesitated and stalled. Got it started but it idled poor and was blowing white smoke when i reved it. it did not allow me to rev it. Manged to get it home home and then took all the plumbing off to inspect compressor wheel as i suspected a blown turbo. Lucky for me everything was good and wheel was still on the turbo. I took of the rb 20 wastegate off and installed the original r33 wastegate which is the same as my stock turbo. Started the car and took it for a drive. This time i drove it on 7psi stock boost of wastegate and not 10psi(rb20). The car ran well however it has a small miss in the low rev ranges. I have z32 airflow meter, injectors and retune planned for next month Is this normal behaviour for an untuned turbo upgrade? What are your thoughts on this please help.

  11. My previous car before owning my r33 gtst was a 1972 toyota corolla with a SR20 turbo running 180kw atw. Full sleeper look, car weighed 950kg and was fully engineered. Raced it at the creek on street semi slicks and ran a 12.8s quarter. Put mickey thompson full race slicks, got heaps of advice from local veteran racers at track and ran 11.89 after 6 passes on the full slicks. 11.89 s at 117mph with 1.7 sixty foot. Due to family illness i sold the car and later settled for a skyline . I cant get away from the nissan family. Any way i would like my skyline to run this time. it will keep me happy for a short time
  12. How many kws will i need to make to run into the 11 second bracket with suspension mods and full racing slicks. Planning on going to the creek with 250kw atw with full slicks when car gets tuned.

  19. Thanks for the feedback, you have inspired some new confidence in achieving my desired results, well done. If i can achieve the same results i will be a happy man. Did your high flow retain the standard wastegate or did it have an aftermarket wastegate. How was the response of the turbo? compared to the other bolt on options for r33 .
  20. I have a greedy profec 2 boost controler. I want my target boost to be 18psi and holding strongly to 7000rpm. Wouldnt i be better off running Rb20 wastegate(10psi spring) rather than Rb25 wastegate(7psi) spring if i want to hold 18psi on high boost setting. The controler will not work as hard as you say.. I already have both wastegates and im tossing up wether to buy another wastegate say 12psi or maybe 14psi aftermarket . My aim is to hold boost levels strong and consistant as i have heard that the high flows cannot flow 18psi without dropping to 16psi. Also why the GCG turbos retain the standard rb25 7 psi wastegate, shouldnt they be upgraded like hypergear turbos and hks turbos etc.
  21. I recently purchased a GCG r33 high flow turbo. I took it to GCG and had it inspected . While i was there i spoke to michael and he informs me that this turbo can handle 20psi, make 250kw on rb25 and also boost 400rpm later than the original turbo. my mods include 3inch exhaust with dump pipe PFC Standard airbox with high flow filter FMIC 040 fuel pump Z32 air flow on its way 555cc injectors on its way Yavuc from Unigroup will be tuning I have upgraded the r33 wastegate 7psi with the r32 10psi wastegate as these are stronger. i have heard that GCG HF spikes at 18psi then drops to 16psi. Hopefully i have eliminated this with a stronger waste gate. Is the r33 rear turbine housing causing this issue due to the size? Does the r34 op6 housing eliminate this issue and allow higher boost? Will i hit 250kwatw with the above mods? Any advice or experience greatly appreciated, thankyou
