RB26 -7 upgrade suggestions for optimum performance
DJBarnstar replied to RB335's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Also Castrol 10-60 here. Works well and is regularly on special for 50-60 bucks. The dude from mainlube recommended it to me and he does a LOT of filtergram tests. Said it was the best bank for buck oil on the market. Perhaps a little thick for some, but these engines get so hot, so quickly, I think its fine. -

Does the Nismo 1.5 go clunk de clunk de clunk? -
someone with Sau stickers must be playing poker at Yass rd with me. No idea who it is though!!

Have a couple of mates that went halves in an mx5. Think it was about 7k and probably spent another 5 inc rollbar. Runs 1.16s at wakefield. ..allll day... corners as hard as my gtr, and is 90 percent as exciting with no concers about blowing it up/ dinging it. Multiple peeps driving back to back. When i have space, there will be one in my Shed. Gutless, but streessfree. Wouldn't bother with turbo as you will just chase problems and floggability will diminish.

What did you put in it Kat? And does it go..... clunk de clunk de clunk? I hate that. Mine is the V-spec and from what I can see it's a pain to put a 'normal' diff back in but looks like I have no choice with what I do with the car. Is there an option other than to a 1.5 now? Is there a tru-track available anyone? -
Who still daily's their Skyline?

^^ V true. I just think if its worth say under $50K you may as well drive and enjoy it. -

If you don't drive your Skyline at least 3 days a week and it's street registered, you are a pussy. Yes, they cost more, but if you are going to fork over big dollars in insurance, rego, servicing, then why not drive the bloody thing? Shit, a new GT86 is worth what my car is. Are you going to let that sit in the shed? My 33GTR is my work vehicle and track toy. Gets serviced every 4000ks max, has a good immobilizer, gets waxed regularly and I always park it on the street, not in car parks. The thing is that I have always had a shitbox lying around, and I have found that the moment you take the shitbox down the street on an errand you know you have ruined your car with mods. This is a symptom of my life.... -

I'ts built, and I understand that the previous owner had the head cleaned up. Seems to really like boost on E85. You can see on the graph that it is well and truly out of puff and starts dropping at that level however. -

Sure is Shaun.... Love this car. Needs a new rear diff though, the current one has started single pegging. No idea why, it has never had a hard time.......... -

Great car, but I think you need some de-reg papers if you want that kind of money with a wobbly odo. -

WAT WAT WAT? -
Looks pretty! Apart from the too big wheels........ Never seen it out though..

I missed the previous thread, and you were probably asked to supply, but do you have DeReg papers to prove those K'S? Massive asset and essential to you getting top dollar, particularly as the digits on the odo are slightly wonky.

If those are real Kms on the clock then that is a awesome alternative to say a new (Demo) Sti or even Evo? $55K + on the road. I'd consider it. Nice GTR.

That combo will be very underwhelming, unless it is on E85. it will make about 290KW on 98 and 360KW on E85. It is a waaay better drive with e85 as it wont be so laggy. I got my car with -7's from the previous owner. If I had a choice I would 100% go a big single. Don't bother with an intercooler... mine has the stock one as is fine. -
