hahaha, sorry i just found that funny at least you didnt short circuit your cluster like i did. regarding your actual problem im unaware of any other sensors, i think the one you plugged in was the only one, it may be your actual climate control unit playing up. if you have access to a mates unit, swap them out to see if it is a faulty unit or not. otherwise i cant think of much else. cheers

just read the entire thread, and this sounds like exactly what im after. so can these chips be installed into an r34gtt ecu? do you nistune guys know of any tuners in tasmania who can tune your stuff? how much for a chip fited to my ecu? ready to be tuned, or any other options? cheers

as per the title, im looking for an R34 instrument cluster, must be manual, good working condition, and km's range between 45-60 or thereabouts.. pm me with how much you want or sms me on 0437 580 559 if you know someone who has one, please send my number to them.. btw im only after one because i blew mine up by shortcircuiting the thing and now cant drive my car , mine was reading 45km's... cheers

i pulled the thing apart completely last night, and i mean completely. i was holding the actual circuit board in my hands and visually inspected every connection/line and nothing was visibly damaged. however when i plugged the circuit board into the car, it started beeping again, obviously indicating its not happy.. i guess im going to have to buy a new cluster, which is going to be interesting when i take it to get inspected for tasi registration, as the car has only just been bought into the state. 0 km's on a 10 y/o car, haha.

i know its a big ask, but surely someones got an r34 cluster i could use to determine whether its my cluster thats F*#$%^d or if ive just blown a fuse. willing to pay for the privilege. auto electricians say they cant tell whether its rooted without sending it off, ie: big bucks..

i took off the black cover that you see in the photo. but no damage was visible.. do you mean take off the black plastic cover then completely disassemble the thing? i was thinking about it, but didnt want to make it any worse.. but seeing as its not working anyway, i might do it tonight.

typically i would disconnect power before unplgging anything, however with the leds in the cluster, they have a certain polarity, and if the polarity is wrong they wont work, so i left power on in this case to test whether i had installed the leds corrctly or if i needed to rotate their sockets.. i have tried resetting the ecu and then reinstalling the cluster but it still just makes a constant beeping noise and none of the needles move, lights all work though.. what a cluster f*$k..

ok guys, could you's please read this link, if you have any ideas as to what it may be let me know. if you have an r34 instrument cluster laying around that i could borrow to check whats actually at fault, even better. obviously, i would not allow this to happen to your cluster.. cheers guys

last night i took out my instrument cluster to replace the fugly blue led's i had with red ones.. anyway, i have a quick release boss kit for my steering wheel which i took off to make getting the cluster in and out easier, that left the horn button exposed as well as the ring around it which completes the 'ground' (i think) cicuit for the horn.. the 3 plugs at the back of the cluster where as usual a prick to get off and in the process the back of the cluster tapped the horn button and maybe the ring at the same time, which produced a flash and immediate constant beeping from the dash. i got worried and wanted to see if i'd rooted anything so re-plugged the 2 i'd already taken out back in to the cluster. long story short.. my cluster lights all work, and the fuel gauge is active, but the rev's, speedo, oil pressure, kilometre counter and the triple gauge cluster are all inactive, but they do all light up, just no actual movement. also when the cluster is plugged in there is a constant beeping from the dash, which will only stop once i remove the centre white plug.. i think ive fried some of the circuitry in the cluster itself though visually i couldnt see evidence of this. has anyone ever had something similar happen? anybody know what it could be? the only way i can think of finding the problem, is trying another cluster to see if it works, if it does than ive fryed mine, if it doesnt work, then ive just blown a fuse somewhere, or worse the computer. dont know if im posting in the correct thread but this seems where all the electrical questions go.. im really keen to get this fixed as id had the car apart for some time doing mechanical work and an intense interior detail, and this was the final thing to do before i could drive again. so im spewing that ive got to deal with this now. any help is as always hugely appreciated. cheers guys.

hey mate, ive also seen that car driving around down here in tasmania, in the devonport area though.. so is it N/A or turbo? on the street it certainly looks very attention grabbing, i dont mind the style myself, but doubt i would feel comfortable cruising around in it, well done anyway though! if you dont mind me asking how much did you sell it for?

on this point, where can i get an upgraded wastegate actuator that will directly replace the r34gtt's 7psi (i think) wastegate? or will one of the gtr's ones fit directly?

hicas appears to be random, and no, heroics dont belong on streets im well aware of this. went out last night to double check everything again, and it seems the tcs off button does work as does the backlight as it displays "tcs off" and no fuel cuts around corners.. so thats all sorted, i think i was just worried as im unfamiliar with these cars. however i know enough to know it needs new coils. does anyone know about question 5? or has anyone experienced similar? i know its weird, but on over-run the car makes what sounds like a sharp buffeting noise from what sounds like the lhs? only at higher revs say above 3000rpm hence why it only seems to do it in 1st 2nd and 3rd.. has got me stumped. -

ive also just done an epic search and read up on the common slip/tcs problem and will see 666dan re: gizmo to turn tcs off automatically, however, when i press the tcs button, no "tcs off" light comes up on my dash, as it sounds like it should.. is this a problem with the switch or the tcs backlight? also forgot to add question 5. perhaps the most worrying. 5. when im driving along in 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear and realease the throttle but still in gear, i get this loud scraping noise coming from waht seems like the lhs passenger door, its obviously a mechanical type noise and very hard to explain, like theres sand/gravel traveeling down exhaust after the turbo.. only happens on over-run though. does anyone know what this may be? completely goes away after i press throttle again.. -
id really appreciate a few questions being answered for me.. any help is better than where im at now. 1. when cornering fast, the "SLIP" light comes on in my r34gtt's dash, at roughly the same time, it feels like fuel is cut to the engine and momentum is seriously halted, is this the same as the "TCS" off button? which doesnt seem to stop it? how can i turn this off? 2. hicas light comes on every once in a while, doesnt seem to do anything though.. is this an issue? 3. turbosmart dual stage boost controller doesnt seem to change boost settings, i checked with a multimeter to see if the boost controller was getting the signal to change to high boost when i flick the rocket switch and it is, however boost always stays the same at 0.6 bar. i wound up the high setting a few notches and still no difference, anyone know what could be going on? 4. the tubosmart dsbc (above) is teed into the line between the turbo and wastegate, where it should be.. however there is a second gated boost controller teed into the line between the intake manifold and a little electronic box with "boost sender" written on it.. obviously this isnt going to effect boost, so why is it there? simpy to trick the boost sender with a lower reading? cheers for the help guys.

not sure if a thread like this has been done already.. im hoping to get a list of workshops who tune skylines, what brand ecu's/software they tune, and any good or bad experience youve had with them. ive never had any of my cars tuned in tas yet. i live in the nw coast but im interested in tuners from all around the state. my r34 has only bolt on mods and runs quite well, but probably a little rich.. hoping to sort that out and also just find out what power it makes. hoping to only get workshops up that youve actually used and have first hand knowledge about. cheers
